The O's won 2/3 down in Tampa and hopefuilly will win 2/3 here in Baltimore. That's the goal of every series. The O's send Bedard (1-1 3.80) against Hideo Nomo (2-2, 6.41) Nomo no-hit the Orioles as a member of the Boston Redsox in 2001.

Lou Pinella will not be on the bench tonight as he will be serving his suspension for the fight against Boston.

I'm going tonight and with my $5 student ticket! Best entertainment value you can get for a friday night. Go Birds!

I think the O's have a good chance to get tonight's game. They have the pitching edge and 2 full days off. The only downside to the time off is that they were hot before the rainout.

If they can get tonight's game then they have a great shot at winning another series.

On a side note, thanks for the series by series threads. I enjoy a little discussion throughout the season and this breaks it up nicely!!

Os win 5-0. Bedard was nasty

TheDoyler23
April-29th-2005, 10:15 PM
Great start by Bedard. They didn't even hit it hard off him, and he didn't fall behind more than a couple batters.

Good to see Gibby hit one out. Lopez is heating up too. It'll be tough to take him out of the lineup (dh tomorrow?)

I got my $5 ticket and posted up in right field. Such a bargain!

Tomorrow is Ponson against Mark Hendrickson, the tough lefty. The O's used the right handed heavy lineup against him earlier in the month, knocking him out in the 7th with 4 earned runs, going on to win 5-1. Lopez hit a homer in the game as well.

Lets win this series tomorrow!

mad4comp
April-29th-2005, 10:57 PM
Yup, its gonna be a good game tomorrow. The thing is, we need Ponson to go at least 6 strong innings against Toronto, because Hendrickson will start to crumble around the 6th-7th inning. I just hope Ponson can keep the hits down and keep the runs under 2-3. Even if we get down 0-2 going into the 7th, its easy to makeup the runs as we've proven in Boston.. GO O's!!!!!

P.S Bench Sosa....what is wrong with him, he went 0-4 today, im all for Newhan right about now (just not tomorrow ;)).

TheDoyler23
April-29th-2005, 11:03 PM
BTW, I dunno if they showed this on TV, but when Sosa did his run towards right, Mora and Miggie did the finger in the air sprint to second base. I guess they'll have to do it tomorrow since they won.

I love how they keep it loose. You watch a Yankee game and they almost look panicked out there. The O's always look confident, even when down.

Bench Sosa???

He's hitting .283 which is better than his career BA of .277

He has hit 4 homeruns with 11 rbi's
At this pace he will have 29 homeruns, and 81 rbi's on the season.

If you ask me Sammy is doing pretty well, and at least much better than Newhan could muster in a season.

TheDoyler23
April-30th-2005, 12:12 PM
Sosa had 2 hits last time Hendrickson pitched against the birds, though one of them was against the pen. That was one of the classic Erik Bedard gets no run support games, and Kline got the win after getting one out from Aubrey Huff.

Sosa was going to have the third game at Fenway off, but it was fained out. I think if you're gonna start the mostly righty lineup +BJ, then keep any and all sluggers in the game. Gil will prolly get the start at C with Javy DH-ing and Gomez at first. You HAVE to keep Lopez in the lineup ahaionst Hendrickson. Javy owns him with 8 hits in 17 abs.

Gills opposite field swing and BJ have each done well battling against topugh leftys. It would be nice to get Gibby and Bigbie more AB's agenst left handed pitching.

Gibbons doesn't even have bad numbers against southpaws, with a .259 (career .260) average. However, both Gibbons and Bigbie have been DISMAL against Hendrickson, a combined 3-30.

Unless he learns to hit to the opposite field...i dont see why he gets to play. I know what his numbers are, but they are decieving. he hits into DP's like no other, and cannot hit to the opposite side. :/

Yes, very true. He stands away from the plate, begging the pitcher to throw to the outside corner. If the pitcher can hit the outside corner all three times, he'll whiff. If the pitcher misses outside middle, Sosa slams it somwehere. Sometimes he hist to the opposite field when he hits it off the end of the bat, but he's more likely to roll over to short.

The Nats had 41k their since there were was a massive contingent of Mets fans. When Floyd hit the 3 run double, there were nothing but Mets fans in the shot behind home plate. So nats fans really don't have a leg to stand on when they talk about Fenway South or Yankee Park at Camden Yards.

I'll get a better look tonight since they'll be on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN.

Jeez man, relax. I wasn't that serious when I started that. Look, people are always going to be comparing the two teams now that they're close to each other and Angelos put up a fight. I'm sure there will be a time when the Nats are better than the O's. I look at it as a friendly rivalry, despite what a lot of other people think. It's not like the Nats are fighting us for a playoff berth or vice versa. Both teams will do well here.
