The NHL draft should be coming up soon and the question is will there be one and does anybody care if there is one.
My concern is since there was no season then there is no change as to how the teams finished. So how will it be determinded as to how the teams will be seeded.
The reason why I ask this question is because the caps had the fisrt overall pick last year and I'm hearing that the would be number one prospect is suppose to be as good as Greztky and Lemux (forgive the spelling lol). Any word on this.

That is a GREAT question that I would really like the answer to. WEre they in a tie-breaker for the pcik, or was it theirs out-right? Very interesting........

The draft has already been cancelled...and the top pick that you are talking about is Sidney Crosby and he is just plain sick....a bit small 5' 10" about 185 but he will get bigger...he dominated the competition in QMJHL averaging almost 3 points a game....

I heard on the radio today that they are going ahead with their combine. Lead me to belive they will have a draft.
Are they just going to let them all be FA's?

They still are not sure how the lottery will function.
There will be a lottery but it apparently will not be based on the 2003-2004 season or else Washington may get another high player (like Crosby, imagine him and Ovechkin together!)
Anyways from what I read it may work something like this
They combine every team's records the past 5 years and do the lottery based on that. Well one of the worst teams in the NHL since 1999 have been the NY Rangers which fuels into conspiracy theories that the NHL wants Crosby in New York.
The draft was to be in Ottawa but will be done via a conference call now

that would be so kick ass if we got him. that would be a great corp. but you've got to remember, not all of these "can't miss nhl first overall picks" work out. eric lindros? quebec nordiques? yea, he pulles an eli manning on them (well, technically, manning pulled a lindros on teh bolts because lindros's situation came before) and refused to ever don the nordiques jersey. well, the got him, and traded him to philly. funny thing is, lindros never turned out to be a gretzky, and all the players, cash, and picks sent to the nordiques (now the colorado avalanche) has helped them win 2 stanley cups, and a current playoff contender. the trade was the herschel walker of the nhl. not sayin that crosby's gonna fail, but there not always no brainers.

Well the draft would have been this past weekend.
We'll see what happens soon.
Hopefully the Caps get at least a top 3 pick.

it would be really cool if they would use the same order. maybe they should do the lottery with the same odds as the 2004 draft? cus technically, that'd be the fairest way, to base it on the season's performance before the lockout.

The NHL Draft Lottery is Today! Crosby is going to be sick, whoever gets him is lucky as hell.

Cross your fingers for Crosby, odds are slim, but it would mean Stanley Cups for a decade around here

The reason they are doing it this way is that A LOT of teams are going to be completely different this time next week.
Tons of really good veterans are gonna be bought out and with the cap and floor, who knows what teams are gonna have what players
It is gonna be a fun 2 weeks
