Any NC people here enjoy good BBQ?
This coming weekend, there will be the Greater Hickory Smoke BBQ competition and Festival at LP Frans Stadium in Hickory NC.
So far, there are 39 teams registered to compete plus an amateur class.
They will be compteting in chicken, pork and beef barbequing so, there will be plenty of food.
If any ExtremeSkins members are in the area, check it out.
Last year was my first time attending and I had a great time. I have a friend that competes(J.C.'s BBQ-Statesville,NC) and I'm going to help him out on his cooking team.
Just a heads up for all the BBQ fans on the board.

That's exactly right. Hard to beat that place for Western Style.
As I understand it, that guy and the person that runs Bridges BBQ in Shelby learned that particular style from the same guy out of High Point/Greensboro or something. They are essentially the same, I think.
Personally, I'd go with Lexington BBQ, with Speedy's BBQ just up the street in Lexington also being pretty good.
Worst BBQ I have ever had was at the Hickory Log in Forest City. For my taste and texture preference, awful.

Might have to check that out 44, I hear about it every year. I was asked to help judge the CASI NC Chili competition a couple weekends ago, and I'm not kidding, I think what I make could've won the damn thing. I was not impressed, which really surprised me. I was prepared to be 'wowed' by the pros and wasn't.
Might have to check out the BBQ festival though.

Jacksons Big Oak BBQ in Wilmington, N.C. is also very good. Mr. Jackson also grew up with Sonny Jurgensen.
