Apoligize if this is already been posted, haven't seen it on the front page. On PTI today Sean Taylor's agent mentioned that the agent has talked to Gibbs but Taylor hasn't, however he also mentioned that Taylor has talked to Synder a couple of times.
According to Drew he mentioned that Taylor has talked to Synder a couple of times but not Gibbs. I do not know how all of you feel but this just scares me a little. If one of our best players won't talk to the coach but will the owner, then has the young players already starting to not listen to Gibbs?
I feel since Synder does talk contracts I can understand a little, however if players are bypassing the person that is the president of football operations, that scares me.
I hope Synder told him to call Gibbs.

I heard the clip on 980 on the way home. He said he's talked to Gibbs on Taylor's behalf.

Maybe Snyder told him he would give him a plasma, flat screen for his cell wall. :)

WTEM was playing excerpts from the chat that PTI had with Rosenhaus today. Apparently Rosenhaus claimed that HE has talked to Gibbs and that Taylor has spoken to SNYDER in the offseason. He also said something to the effect of, "I'm not advocating that a player doesn'r return calls, but, you know, it is the offseason, and Taylor really isn't obligated....."
Yes, I know that its this guys job to get Taylor more money, but to publicly say this sort of stuff is just insane. ST is getting paid HOW MUCH but yet isn't supposed to have any obligaion to the team in the offseason?
I'm sorry if there was another thread started on this or if it was part of one of the many Taylor threads on this board. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what other Redskins that Rosenhaus represents?

I am really sick of Taylor right now............
Looking forward to training camp and the rev up for the 2005 season and this bonehead has to come along and play tarzan over a god damn $20K vehicle when he has a $40 million contract.
What a bozo.

Drew did mention that, but still doesn't answer why he would still talk to Synder and not Gibbs. Drew was trying to not talk to much about and it and I was shocked that Tony and Mike didn't question him more about it.
I loved when he did say he wants other agents to hate him then he knows he is beating them

You beat me posting it by 6 minutes, jbooma. The arrogance of Rosenhaus is just amazing.
I know the Skins have excused ST from some of the upcoming minicamps, but if he would like to make a good impression on us fans, he should get his butt up here and participate. At this point, I could care less whether Sean Taylor plays in 2005 for the Redskins. If he does, he better be something special this year.

If true, I think this says Sean is scared to face Gibbs like a man, and wants Snyder to smooth things over before he and Gibbs speak.
I'm not worried about bypassing Gibbs on this, Snyder hasn't undermined Gibbs yet, and I don't expect him to start now. He knows Gibbs has things moving in the right direction.
This is only more proof that he needs to grow up. He knows Gibbs is the man he's ultimatly accountable to, and is scared to admit his screw ups.

Doesn't really matter to me. In fact it's more of a slap in the face than not returning a call in my eyes. "Hey, agent, be my ***** and call my coach for me while I go live up the nightlife in Miami and wave a gun around at people who stole my ATV's."

Yeah, who would have thunk?
Anyone catch the reasonably intelligent portion of Rosenhaus' interview where he talked about TO? He made some fairly good points.
(for a soul-less guy, anyway)

I would agree with that if Sean ever showed for once he does care, but from what we have seen I think he only cares about himself.
I hope you and Pete are right but wouldn't put any of my money on it.

So,
it was Taylor who talked to Snyder about changing his number maybe......
Meanwhile the big boys (Gibbs and Rosenhaus) talked about Taylor......I'm guessing about contract and OTA stuff right?

I do find it very interesting that Drew is in DC today. Anybody down around Olive's or Morton's tonight to see Danny, Joe, and Drew having dinner :D

I know where your commin from, but I can't figure any other reason he would talk to Snyder before Gibbs.

Drew was doing what he should do.
Be an agent.
Nothing he could of said would of make both us and his clients happy.
His T.O. take on how everything unfolded was just retarded and revisionist.

I watched the whole piece on PTI, and was actually pretty impressed with Rosenhaus. Here's what I took away from the interview:
First, he did say that Taylor had spoken with Snyder and not Gibbs. He also said that he had spoken to Gibbs several times on Taylor's behalf. When pushed by Kornheiser, he wouldn't really comment as to why Taylor wouldn't call Gibbs, but his generic answer kind of implied that he viewed it as a youthful mistake.
Second, Tony made a statement something like,"Drew, you're known for not holding out players, why the change?" Rosenhaus corrected him by saying that he wasn't holding anybody out yet, that these were offseason workouts, and camp is still 2 months away. He went on to say that he was trying to handle business early, so that everybody could be into camp on time. He said that he does not want to hold anybody out, and believes that he won't. This part of the interview gave me MUCH more confidence that Taylor will be in camp on time.
Third, he did explain the TO situation, and like another poster already said, I do understand now why TO wants a new contract. The way he explained it, and knowing how the Eagles don't budge on these types of dealings makes me think that things could get ugly with TO and Philly.
Lastly, Rosenhaus convinced me that he was an agent trying to do things the right way. He said that his top priority was to his clients, but that he also tried to do what's "good for the game". Overall, a very interesting interview.

GSF, I also walked away a little more impressed with Rosenhaus. I have to remind myself, of course, that he said what he wanted us all to hear. I also think that if I ever make it to the "big Leagues", he will be the first to call for my agent.
BTW, there is no way in he!! I will make it to the Bigs. Do Advertising reps need agents?

I highly doubt contract demands is what is on Taylor's mind right now. The law might be keeping him out of some camp this year not contracts. The skins are in a very interesting position right now. If Taylor is convicted of anything or even pleads guilty to get a deal they will have the option to take back some of his contract.

I'll tell you one thing, If I was a decent player, I'd be calling Rosenhaus night and day to get him to be my agent.
Night and day.
I'm not really upset with this. Taylor should call Gibbs, and we've already gone over that quite a few times. He probably shouldn't be calling Snyder, though who knows, maybe Snyder put him in contact with who stole his ATV's.

Snyder is like everyone's buddy... Gibbs is the boss. No one really takes Danny seriously, but they do Joe Gibbs.
Taylor wants to have his entire offseason (for the hundredth time, yes we know what you'll think he should have done) If he talked to Gibbs, Gibbs would have probably talked him into showing up. It's not that hard to understand.
When the whistle blows how many of you stay late on your time, or come in early on your free time. Just because he makes more money doesn't mean squat, because he knows he only has to do what is in his contract, and that's show up at MANDATORY functions.
I am not saying it's right, or wrong, He's 22 immature, lots of money... and he wants to milk his free time in Miami Beach to the last minute, before going back to boring old work. When you where 22 which seemed more likely for you.... Working out with a bunch of sweaty guys, and go into boring class work... or hanging with your friends, and chasing bikini's?
Just reasoning this out... I don't think he thinks he is direspecting coach Gibbs, just avoiding him so he won't be put on the spot about workouts.

Any way you look at it, Taylor not returning Gibbs calls is inexcusable. How anyone can defend this kid is beyond me. It's a shame because he could be one of the all-time greats if he gets his $hit together.

I'm 21.
And though I have a lot of respect for Gibbs... I'd be damn tempted to stay out and party like mad if I was a millionaire, a fine tuned athlete and it was the offseason.
I think I'd at least give a call, but it'd be hard as hell to say flat out no to someone's face on the phone. Especially the coach. So, playing it off is probably easier.

Sorry, they all talk to Synder because he has the wallet and he has allowed this to happen because of his actions in the past.
Has anyone heard from Vinny since the draft, it has been pretty quiet :D

That part was some spin.... he left out that a special arbitraitor was probably going to rule in TO's favor making him a Free Agent... The NFL just bent the rules to try and make nice for all parties involed... because they were the ones who screwed things up. TO didn't have to sign the contract, and if he didn't he wouldn't have been forced back to Baltimore... that was BS. If he was being forced... he would have waited a couple days for the ruling.

Who's defending him... just explaining his actions as I see them... and the key word was "KID". Kid's usually grow up and learn from their mistakes... some faster than others.. lets hope Taylor learns from his mistakes.

The contract situation, it's not an issue.
A player can't demand a new contract when he's got fresh felony charges against him.
If Taylor tried to pull that stunt, even if it doesn't go to trial, he'd literally be the laughing stock of the sports world.
And I don't think he had plans to holdout anyway, or at least not until Ed Reed came out and said he wanted a new deal.
Reed's going to raise the bar for what safeties are paid in this league and Taylor and Rosenhaus would be smart to do their deal after Reed's. It will make them more money.
Doing it now doesn't make any sense.
Plus, if Taylor has a great season this year, he'll be in even better position to make some cash. He's just coming off a pretty decent rookie season. Negotiating a new deal coming off of a season like that makes you less money than doing it after a Pro Bowl season.
So I think they're just waiting, probably until next offseason.
But obviously Taylor is in a bad way right now. He might not even be a free man in 2006.

We all know that Snyder is the money man in the equation. Snyder tried to send Schaefer to visit Sean and he got denied. It doesn't surprise me that Snyder and Taylor have talked.
(Remember there was a little thing going on about contract and money before he started waving guns.)
IMO - This isn't an attempt to undermine Gibbs by Snyder, its an attempt to deal with contractual situation.
In other words, the sky is not falling again. (How many times can the sky fall in one month?)

Taylor and his BULL$HIT has really turned me against him and I was firmly in his camp on draft day 2 years ago. Hey we could have either taken him or the other head case Winslow, turns out both are losers

I love Taylor when he's on the field -- he's my favorite player on the Skins D.
But immature kid or not, off the field he is an absolute disaster. I'm sincerely hoping the threat of jail time or a NFL suspension opens his eyes and fast.
What an off-season for me. First my favorite player on the Skins offense whines and whines until we send him back to the Jets, and then my favorite player on the D does everything he can to look like a total punk.

As I said, I think people have been blowing things out of proportion with Sean's no-show. I really do think he just wanted to get away for a while. Does it make it right that he didn't return Gibbs calls? Not at all.
Also, it was proven a couple of months ago that he wasn't looking to hold out, since the Redskins sent their cap guy to Rosenhaus, and nothing came of it. Do you really think Rosenhaus would have not talked contract if that was the issue? Course, it is a moot point now because of Sean's situation.

i am hoping that Snyder told Taylor to call Gibbs for anything football related and reinforced Gibbs stance within the organization to Taylor

If you go into the NFL, you obviously love the game of football (well, there are exceptions). I understand everyone needs a break, but when you were part of one of the top-tier defenses in the NFL and playing for a HOF coach making millions of dollars, why the heck would you show no contact to the headcoach of your team??Why would Sean not WANT to contact gibbs? it just makes no sense to me.

Doc Walker was talking about it today on the JT show and he doesn't like how players go to Snyder for a lot of things. The reaons this happens is because he has allowed it in the past, and it continues even though all the players know to talk contract they should go to Gibbs first.
