We did sign Cory Hall and he retired after two days for God knows what reason and Gibbs said he was lookin for veteran safeties and I am sure Tongue is about as good as Hall so it might be a nice fit if Tongue can accept being a backup.

Jets release veteran safety Tongue
June 15, 2005
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Safety Reggie Tongue was released Wednesday by the New York Jets after starting all 16 games last season.
Tongue played just one season with the Jets and had the longest interception return in the team's postseason history with an 85-yard touchdown run against Pittsburgh.
A second-round draft pick in 1996 by Kansas City, Tongue played four years with the Chiefs and four years with Seattle.
I was just going to post this, I can see us quietly going after Tounge.

I don't care about guys coming in to camp for competition, but I like Bowen, Taylor, Lott, Prielou and Clark better.

Tounge has some good skills. Bo-staff skills, num-chuck skills, kung-fu skills. He could definitely help out the secondary. We'll see what happens; I think our new strategy of not overpaying players will put us out of his price range. Maybe.

He is good.
I remember him more as a Seahawk than anything else though. He was nasty for them and they cut him.
I wouldn't mind him at all, but I can't remember if he plays FS or SS...pretty sure SS cuz Hamlin was their FS and Boulware moved to SS for them.
Tongue is good and this is surprising cuz he still has a few years left in the tank.

You can never have to much depth and special teams help IMO.

Here are his career numbers http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/3608/career
not the best in the world and numbers don't show how many times you were beat as Ohalete showed. I suppose there must be another team without as much safety depth as us where he would rather go and get some playing time.

I'd bring him in for a visit, if only to drive up his asking price. Isn't Dallas in the market for a safety? :)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas end up with Lance Schulters, after he is cut by the Titans.

Well Shulters is also a free agent so we have a choice of veteran safeties this week.:helmet:
