I heard the same thing!!! Could you imagine it? The only question I have is what they'd want in compensation. I like the make up of the team now, and don't want to risk any young players like Church or Wilkerson (or both). Hopefully this is just rumor. We have a viable playoff contender now. I hope we don't do anything crazy and disrupt the chemistry of the team.

Yeah i heard this as well, but on TK this morning, a guy was on that said he didnt think the Astros would do that.

My thoughts were what about burnett, or Jason Schmidt if you really want. ALthough i am opposed to giving up church or wilkerson.

The team is doing just fine without Vidro

Use him as trade bait

No way, he is a all star caliber 2nd baseman, you get him back then you can get rid of wil cordero and his miniscule batting avg.

Clemens salary is 18 mil.....so thats about 9 mil remaining for this year. If we did acquire him then we'd have to hope Houston would eat some of his remaining salary.

I would love to see Clemens come here but i dont think that we have the prospects to garner such a player.......i will keep my fingers crossed that something does happen though!

Nats will never get Clemens. I don't see the Nats being players in a trade for any of the big names available. They have very few good prospects and they aren't going to give up someone like Church unless he brings in an All-Star caliber player who's signed at least through next year. I think the Nats will go after guys like Mark Redman or Kip Wells from the Bucs, or they might try to get Encarnacion from the Marlins again, if he isn't traded with Burnett. Those are probably the caliber of players we can expect. And they will not trade Vidro, he's one of the best 2B in the league. When he gets back, I would not be shocked if they try Spivey at SS for a game or 2, to see how he does defensively there. Maybe there is some AL team that would be dumb enough to trade for Guzman!

I wouldn't be willing to give up any decent young players for him.

He'll retire after the year and wouldn't be worth it.

We've already got our ace in Livan. :)

The Clemens rumor seems more a statement that the Nats will pony up than a possible trade.

On baseball tonight Thursday night, Tim Kurkijan said that the Nats had scouts out to watch both Jason Schmidt and A.J. Burnett pitch. Then again, 11 other teams also had scouts there.

Its a promising sign that they were there, depeneding on what we had to give up i would welcome eitherof them to the staff.

If we were to get him our staff would be unbelievable. The Nationals are becomming a powerhouse. Imagine if we had an owner!

I'd definitely take Clemens on the team. Id give Wilkerson before Id give up Church though if I had to give up one of them. Wilks strikes out too much for me.
