The Knicks also are trying to make a splash by making a move for Kwame Brown. The Cavs have Michael Redd atop their list

This from an INSIDER article I was reading on ESPN. Don't have an insider account to read the rest of the article, but it is is in the NBA section.

Redd got offered the max from Milwaukee, so he's leaving roughly $20M on the table if he bolts for the Cavs. I would be shocked if he left the Bucks.

And the Knicks supposedly are going to dangle Michael Sweetney in any sign-and-trade deals. I guess I would be okay with that if it was the best we could do. I'm a little worried though about his ability to get up and down the court with our fast-paced offense, seeing as he has some weight issues. He'd be an upgrade offensively over Etan, but a downgrade defensively.

If I was Redd, I would take less money to play with Lebron. He has a better chance at winning a championship with the Cavs than he ever will in Milwaukee.

I'm not too impressed with Sweetney, but at least he isn't as much of a headache as Kwame. Yet if this deal goes through, can you imagine Kwame dealing with the New York media after a bad game? If he pulls half of the crap he did here, they would eat his sensitive ass alive.

I like Sweetney. He may not have Kwame's upside but he's better right now and gives us more girth, power, and attitude in the post.

Plus he's a Hoya. :)

what a win situation for us....our 2nd round draft pick this year will be our big man project (Kwame without the luggage) and Sweetney can give us some offense when haywood is having a bad game.

I wouldn't do it. We already have Ethan and he and Sweetney are in the same mode. I think we could get a better deal if Ernie really wants to get rid of Kwmae. But IMO, I don't see this taking place.

Kwame's gonna stay and frankly I want him to. Eventhough he pissed me off and alot of you other guys. I think the situation during the playoffs and him watching and getting chewed by the media will help his attitude. Also, being given another chance and having something to prove.

Here's to kwame staying. Kwame can run the floor alot better IMO then Sweetney. So, don't do it...

Sweetney is one of the best offensive rebounders in the game today!

HAhaha, someone used the word girth.

Anyway, I'd hope we can get something more than Sweetney for a former #1 pick who's still young and pretty raw.

I would defintely make that trade especially if they also offered us a low draft pick.

Just read this morning that Portland is another team that is interested in Kwame and could pull a sign-and-trade. I don't really want anything Portland has though, so I'd have to go with Sweetney if it was between the 2.

I think Portland has Shareef Abur-Rahim and i would love to have him instead of kwame

Reef is unrestricted. I guess we could do a double sign-and-trade, but we could just sign reef without having to give up Kwame for him.

I dunno if you can sign Kwame to a low ball one year contract and just see if he can reach the potential I think thats what you have to do.

A sign and trade for someone would be nice but right now we are not going to get anything near the value of the pick.

I'd like to see him play one more year completely healthy with the team that went to the playoffs.

If Kwame thinks the fans/media are tough on him in DC, what does he think the Big Apple will do to him when he plays possum or gets in trouble?

sounds like a reasonable idea. His teamates like him and feel sorry for the kid. They have his back. Did anyone read the crap this kid went through growing up. And the back woods town he grow up in. This has all hit Kwame to hard and to fast.

If they play the PR right, they can get the fans to understand Kwame better and give him a fresh chance. It may be best for Kwame and the Wiz to sign him to a one year deal and give him another chance.

Take a step back.

Leave out last year. He was injuried and playing for a contract. That had to suck for him. The year he was supposed to prove himself and he was to injuried to do it. Then the team was winning and he wasnt a big part of it.

MJ or no MJ. He has gotten better each of 3 year until last year when he was hurt. He showed some game in 03.

This may be why you are concerned.

He has gone throw all of this. The #1 pick. The MJ thing. The new front office. New coach. and all the while, he was getting better. Then the injury.

After all of this, he is still just 23. Hes athletic. He 6-11 243 and quick. Hughes played many years without putting it together and now everone loves him.

Hes not a head case like Artest.

You risk the chance that he will pull a Ricky Williams on you but look at the talent Ricky was. You have to give him another chance. Its seems like forever but its only been 4 years. years 2 and 3 be played 80 and 74 games.

If you remove his injured last year, thats only 3 years, 1 of which was the first 18 yr old kid choosen #1 in the draft. He was real raw. Kind of like Ramos. Ramos got like 20 min total last year. They wish they would have done this with Kwame.

I would be most happy if we sign him one more year. There will be players we can get for him after this coming year. There are always players available in the offseason. We dont have to do it this year. We are young. We have time to get it right. We can be better safe then sorry this time.

I'd like to sign him for another year with a team option for another....that way if we blows up we can decide to keep him, trade him or resign him to a deal...without losing our pants in the bargain...

980 just said the wiz and knicks are in talks about the Kwame for Sweetney deal.

Can Sweetney move up the floor at the pace the Wiz play? That would be pretty important I think considering how hard we push the ball up the court.

The Knicks are gonna have to throw in more since Sweetney only make $2M per, while Kwame will be getting well more than that (at least the MLE). They might throw in Junk Yard Dog, or hopefully a future 1st.
