im having trouble with the link but if u go over to espn and look at the stein chat he said several encouraging things about larry coming back to DC. He said the wizards are not letting anyone even get close to Hughes and that he should be signed around the 60 million range. I think it will take a little more then that seeing how ray allen got 5 years 80 million. Im thinking 6 years 65 million.

I think the most years you can re-sign for is 5 years (new cba).
Hughes is worth it. Arenas got his, so did AJ...now its Hughes' time.
If we can just add 1 more big man then we could be dangerous....we already have a great nucleus.

The wiz can offer Larry a 6 year deal another bidding team can only offer a five year deal.
We should have no problem keeping him.

Actually, it's 6 years for re-signing your own players, 5 years for FAs (Ray-Ray will only get 5 years though because the Sonics are penny-pinchers and because he's already 30). 6 years, 65M is about right for Hughes. Hopefully we can get him to agree soon so some desperate team doesn't try to max him out.

Agreed. Its so refreshing to not have unseld running things. I trust Grunfeld 100% If Unseld was still in charge larry would be a clipper right now :puke:

Theres alot of speculation that since the clipps whiffed on allen they they will go after hughes hard. They have 16 million in cap room with most of their squad already under contract. This would suck big time. Come on sign larry now!!

Yeah i really like Grunfeld's work and attitude. He reminds me of Jimmy Bowden (Nats GM). I wouldnt be mad at him if Kwame left but if Hughes leaves them im raising h3ll!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Seriously though I really like the way the EJ and Grunfeld are on the exact same page and work together....you REALLY need that in todays game (all sports).

I DESPISE THE CLIPPERS, when are they going to learn they will always SUCK. They tried getting Arenas and luckily didn't succeed and now they are going to try and get Hughes? F them, they put themselves in this whole every single year, by drafting players at the same position year in and year out. I love how they drafted that foreign player who avg'd 3.0 ppg at the what? 11th pick? That is just sad, I feel bad for Elton Brand.

I agree. Its quite comical watching free agents just use the clippers as a stepping stone to get the contract they want from other teams. They mortgaged all last years budget on the slim possibility of stealing away bryant. This year it looks like they will whiff on Allen, Redd, and Hughes. They are a joke franchise.

The Cavs also have significant cap space - if they lose out on Michael Redd, I could see them making a huge push for LH.
I hope he re-signs. Lez Boulez are very close to being very good!

The Cavs are the bigger threat of taking away Hughes than the Clippers. No one seriously sees that team as an option, the same way we were viewed 3 years ago. Cleveland on the other hand has Lebron, and desperately need to attain some players who can fill the rim so LJ won't bolt as soon as his contract is up.
Hughes can help that team get over the hump and become a playoff team, but I doubt he'll want to start over in Cleveland after all the success we had here last season. He also has better chemistry with Arenas and Jamison than anyone else in the league. Stein is right, he'll be back.

How do you hate the Clippers? They're such trash and even for the past few years they've been so close to being a playoff team they can't get it done. Hating the Clippers is like hating the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL or the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the MLB, it really serves no purpose because they just flat out suck.

Did anyone ever doubt that grunfield would sign hughes in the first place?

Ya never know in free agency. Someone can pick off one of your free agents easily. Weve been burned alot here in washington. It's more so guarded optimisim.

Dont fret if he doesnt sign immediately.
They may agree in principle and sign the contract later to allow time to sign other free agents like Abdur-Rahim or Antoine Walker and/or Bobby Simmons.
To me that would be a perfect offseason.
Well almost....I also would like Eddy Curry.
What do you think about this idea...signing and trading LH for Paul Pierce?
We might have to sweeten the deal with a draft pick or 2 and a bench player....but I like that idea...
There would be no drop off...
Pierce is a better scorer and a good defender...not first team All-NBA but still pretty darn good.
Arenas, Pierce, Jamison,Walker, Curry
with sixth man Simmons.
It would give Blatche time to develop in NBDL for 1 or 2 years and learn under Walker for a year or 2 before taking over when Walker retires or gets traded..

Good news regarding Larry, this from some Cleveland/Ohio paper:
http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=14817891&BRD=1699&PAG=461&dept_id=46370&rfi=6
"Next on the Cavaliers' list might be Wizards guard Larry Hughes, but a Wizards source said they intend to trump any offer he gets."
Don't even bother Cleveland, everybody needs to stay away from Larry so we can bring him back for a reasonable price (Arenas money).

I hope they trump any offer Larry gets it would be a shame to see them brake up a team that for once is actually developing chemistry and is pretty damn fun to watch.
