According to the New York Post...

i dont have a direct link since u need a login/password....

i got this from insidehoops.com which basically sums up newspaper articles

"To Shareef Abdur-Rahim, it's a two-way street for him and the Nets. "They have a very good team, a team that can win," the 6-9 prized free agent said yesterday on the eve of visiting the Nets for a two-day recruiting trip. "I can complement them in a lot of ways. And they certainly can help me." But with stiff competition for Abdur-Rahim from the likes of the world champion Spurs, the Nets are trying every ploy they can to ensure that the Portland power forward's road ends in New Jersey. "Really, for the most part, I like everything about the Nets' situation. Even now, they are one of the top three or four teams in the East," said Abdur-Rahim, 28, who then added the dreaded "but" to the equation. "But I'm keeping my options wide open. We're speaking to other teams. Although I like the situation, myself and Aaron [attorney Goodwin] will weigh all my options, listen to everybody," continued Abdur-Rahim, who said the Spurs, Heat, Wizards and Kings also are courting him. "I don't want to lead anybody on." New York Post

ehh...I've never been that impressed with Raheem...I want a banger that can score down low and raheem certainly isn't that....

Man if we could get him that would be AWESOME. A true 4 who can shoot the ball.Thats the only peice we are missing. Trade kwame for a ham sandwhich and resign hughes now. Use the full mle to get abdur rahim.

Arenas
Hughes
Jamison
Abdur Rahim
Haywood

Looks pretty darn good to me.

Where are you going to find one of those? Theres not many of them. We need someone who can step out and hit the 13-16 foot jumper when arenas and hughes penetrate. Not another rim rocker who couldnt throw the ball in the ocean from a sail boat.

The problem I have with Shareef is his durability. He seems like one of those guys that gets hurt every year. I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve seen him play (maybe with the Hawks?). Plus I would like someone that can run the floor … I really like the idea of Stromile.

My choice would somehow be a trade for Maurice Taylor. No reason in particular, I’ve just always liked his game and wish he played for the Wizards.

actually, I would like to see us pull a sign and trade with Kwame before we sign anybody other than our own guys.

Then maybe we either receive a pick in next years draft. Or a role player and a pick in 2 years.

But, there are a few guys, restricted and unrestricted that would like to see them at least take a look at.

Mo Taylor is not a great rebounder, Reef will do much better on the boards. Plus Mo Taylor is making $9M+ for the next 2 years, I'll pass. If he were making half of that though, I would say trading Kwame for him and a future 1st would be a good deal.

Reef would actually be a really good pick-up for us. As Livestrong said, he can hit a mid-range jumper, which would perfectly complement Arenas' and Hughes' slashing. Plus, like Jamison, he's an 8 rpg player. Haywood and Etan can bang down low for the tough baskets.

I'm not sure what our odds are though of getting him. He could go to SA, but I'm not sure where he'd fit in unless they move Duncan to the 5. And in NJ, he'd have as tough a time getting shots (with gunners VC and Jefferson) as he would with the Wiz (Hughes and Arenas), but I think it'll come down to either of us (depending on how much we want him). NJ and the Wiz should both be in the 3-6 range in the East next year, so it could come down to which city he likes better, or who he thinks he'll get along with better. I'm not counting Miami because they're going to re-sign Haslem (if they're smart), and the Kings because they're trying to trade for Nene (who'd be a nice pickup for the Wiz but we don't have what they want). Of course, if Hughes gets away from us, that would most likely change Reef's decision. It could be bad (we won't be nearly as good as last year, so he'll go to the Nets) or good (we still should be a playoff team if he signed with us, and he'd have a bigger role in the offense).

Stiff competition.

I doubt the wiz would be able to afford him, but does anyone notice that this fool has never been on a winning team. Most games played in history without a playoff birth! I guess that was the case with many of the current wiz.

I definitely think he'd help our team out. He can score at the number 4 spot, which would take pressure of Gil, AJ, and Hughes. We would make the playoffs again with him on our team.

That's what Jamison does, we only have one rim-rocker and he only averaged 27 minutes a game last season. We NEED another banger who can be a consistent scorer. Rahim just isn't that type of forward, he's a better fit for the Nets than he is on this team. He'll likely go there with Jefferson and Carter being able to penetrate and kick it back out to him to hit his mid-range shot.
