It was in another thread the Wiz said they would trump any offer for Larry. Which as it has been pointed out we can do very well by throwing out that extra year on the contract.

Hey we may not have Bron but we have a team that has shown it has what it takes to get to the playoffs. We also have a group of people he enjoys playing with. Most importantly to most athelets we have the ability to offer the most cash at the end of the day which is what it usually takes.

Coveted free agent Michael Redd agreed Thursday to re-sign with the Milwaukee Bucks, choosing to stay with the only NBA team he's played for over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"He's going to get a max deal in Milwaukee for $90 to $96 million, depending on what the cap is, over six years," Redd's agent, Kevin Poston, told The Associated Press early Thursday afternoon. "Michael started his career in Milwaukee and hopes to end it there, too.

"It was a tough decision between the Bucks and the Cavaliers, but Michael's heart is in Milwaukee and he's excited about his future there," Poston added.

Redd, who was the top remaining free agent available, met with James and Cavs officials in Cleveland on Wednesday, one day after meeting with the Bucks.

The 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged a career-high 23 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists last season. He has averaged 17.7 points while making 39.4 percent of his 3-point shots since Milwaukee drafted him in second round, with the 43rd overall pick, in the 2000 NBA draft.

Poston said Redd, who turns 26 in August, is excited about playing with former Utah center Andrew Bogut, the No. 1 pick overall in last month's draft, and for the Bucks' next coach.

"Michael had Andrew have spoken at great length and are really looking forward to starting something special in Milwaukee," said Poston, an agent based in suburban Detroit. "We also know who the Bucks are focused in on to be their next coach, and Michael is very comfortable with him."

The Bucks signed Bogut to a multiyear contract last week and have been searching for a new coach since firing Terry Porter last month. ESPN.com's Andy Katz reported Thursday that the Bucks are expected to hire Warriors assistant Terry Stotts.

Poston? I hate that name. Hey Redd, make sure you read the entire contract before you sign it on Jul 22.

The Hughes buzz begins. Don't let us down EG.

Uh-oh! From the Akron Beacon Journal:

A person close to Hughes said Wednesday that he's unhappy with the initial talks with the Wizards and might now be turning his interest to the Cavaliers. He's not the shooter Allen and Redd are, but averaged 22 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and a league-high 2.9 steals last season. He's also only 26. Mark Bartelstein, Simmons' agent, said he's spoken to the Cavaliers about his client, and he thinks there's a chance the two sides could get serious, especially if Redd returns to Milwaukee.

Interesting. We shall see, the way things are moving, he may choose a team within the next week. What do we do if the Cavs offer him the max? I don't really want to give him $14-15M per year.

14-15 a year would be a tough play I dont think you can give him the max I would much rather give him Arenas type money.

As much as you want to keep the nucleus together at what cost do you do that? I was always thinking something along the lines of like 10-12 a year for 6 years but I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Hughes isn't worth the max. If the Cavs offer him that, which I doubt, they can have him.

Also, wouldn't Hughes find it a slap in the face after all this?

"Hey, Ray Allen signed, Redd signed, and now I guess i'm everyone elses second choice..."

Our season will not be dead without Hughes.

Grunfeld will make something work. This man is amongst the best at his profession. We're not talking about Wes Unseld here. If he doens't resign Hughes, it's because it's for the best of the team.

I told a friend of mine just last week that this is the first offseason in almost 20 years where I don't feel any angst about the Wizards because I know they have a professional running things.

Ernie Grunfield may not be the best GM in the NBA, but he's no slouch.

If Larry walks then he walks and we go from there. There is a plan B for this situation. We may not know what it is but we know there is one because we have a true GM in place.

Last year at this time we had no clue that we were going to trade for Jamison and we did. I'll relax and wait to hear what happens after July 22nd once Larry signs his contract with Cleveland.
