While hurricane-watching and ducking staff requests for early evacuations yesterday, I checked in on espn.com and saw that Pasquarelli hatcheted you guys yet again, Gibbs specifically. Thought I'd see some venting here. What gives?

Any Skins fan that reads or listens to Blubber Butt must be a masochist. Whenever I see or hear him I just turn the channel.

I can really care less about what the media has to say, because with all of the nay-sayers, believe me they will be loving us when we start winning this season, including "Piss-a-belly"

I just think that it says we're not being homers when it comes to Pasta, when a guy under hurricane warnings and all that other stuff to worry about can see that the Redskins get 'hatcheted' by that mustard stained walrus on a regular basis.

Yeah, after a while, you become numb to Pastabelli's stuff. I guess no one had the energy, or even deemed it worthy, to talk about it. After a while, his stuff becomes "blah, blah, blah," which also describes Peter King.

I overheard a manager at Johnny's Southern Italian Buffet restaurant here in Atlanta the other day...."Mr. Pasquarelli, while this is an all-you-can-eat buffet, we do request that you eat at your table and not bring a chair to the buffet bar."

I guess when you eat all the time, most of what comes out of your mouth is :puke:, which is basically what the Lenster does in his columns.

Sorry, Danny--here's the Tip Sheet excerpt, which I've cut and pasted:

"• What began as a brainstorm, a move by Joe Gibbs to counter his lack of experience in an instant replay system that allows for coaches to challenge on-field rulings, has now "officially" been rendered a bust. As first reported by the Washington Post earlier this week, Gibbs and the Redskins have opted not to retain Larry Hill, a retired referee who was hired in 2004 as the league's first full-time replay consultant. Hill's contract with the club expired last month, and given the Redskins' dismal experience with replays in '04, Gibbs apparently saw no sense in bringing him back. Washington lost five of its first six challenges last season.

Not that the poor replay record can be all lumped on Hill, who sat upstairs in a box, and advised the Redskins coaching staff on when a challenge should and shouldn't be made. According to one player who spoke to the newspaper, Hill was often overruled, and Gibbs admitted at one point he sometimes made unilateral decisions on replays. Anyone who saw the chaos that often transpired on the Redskins' sideline in '04 will have no trouble believing there was confusion on replay decisions. And at times that confusion, as it applied to replays, resulted in spotty clock management. For part of Gibbs' first tenure as Redskins head coach, the league had instant replay, but it did not involve a coaches' challenge system. Gibbs wasn't any more successful adapting to the replay system than he was in molding an anemic offense, based principally on the designs he employed in his first incarnation, to the manner in which defenses now attack the passing game. First-year Dolphins coach Nick Saban is said to be seeking a retired official to serve, in part, as a replay consultant."

The replay thing? That explains it. Cripes. Lenny's behind. Worse yet, he's behind Nunyo and the Post. Already covered here.

Does anyone here actually think we did well with the replay system last season?

I mean I know the way he takes every opportunity to slide in negative remarks is annoying, but again, he's right- we SUCKED with the instant replay last year, it was an absolute debacle.

Sure we didn't do well with instant replay, but Pasquarelli lumps the whole sum of the responsibility on Gibbs. He does not have the right to take pot shots at Gibbs. What does he know about football in general. He is a waste of space.

What's the point of reading his stuff?

He doesn't give you any new info that I haven't already heard from ES, Redskins.com, PFW, PFT, the Times and CBSsportsline.

All he does is take shots at the Skins.....so what's the point?

You know, I like to take a shot now and then at the other teams in the NFC East, like all good fans do. We minimize the strong points and maximize the weaknesses when discussing each other.

Yet, when I read something like that from Lenny, I'm completely disgusted as A FOOTBALL FAN. I can't imagine who his target audience is with such a blatantly biased and hate filled article.

Easy and Westy, thanks for the viewpoints from non-Redskin fans. We tend to be homers at times (have you noticed?) so its good to see that others view Len's nonsense in the same vein as we do.

What does it for me is the eager disrespect he heaps on Gibbs. Here's Joe Gibbs, one of the most decent men to grace the sidelines, with a stunningly successful career in multiple endeavors. And here's Len; heavy, greasy and totally unprofessional. If you think about that worthless lump grinning and snorting and typing out this bilge with his chubby fingers, cheeseburger next to the keyboard, it'll make you crazy. Best to just ignore it.

Just Say No to Lenny the Hut.

edit: I should add, you can't disagree with the points that the Skins did terribly with challenges, and did terribly with their offense. But the rush to badmouth a guy with Gibbs' pedigree is unseemly. Throughout his career he has aways been able to analyze a situation and take steps to correct problems. Give him another year before you trash him, eh Len?

Good point. It does appear that these publications feel that there is a large enough Redskin hater crowd to justify this nonsense.

It's just gotten so childish and unprofessional that it makes me wonder if there are any qualified editors out there in sports "reporting" anymore. It seems as if these publications just don't care.

 Classic image.

Might I add ... the cheese steak with everything, over to the side there, the fries spilling out of their box, a few on the desk and papers, halfway between the box and the keyboard. Small and large grease and marinara stains on just about every piece of paper. A stack of napkins off to the left, and of course, empty food containers, and full, half empty, and empty Diet Coke cans everywhere.

It's pretty sad that these guys now defend themselves by saying that they've "been in the business for years", so they "know what they're talking about", but then they produce a seemingly never ending string of utter garbage, clearly ignoring everything that those years of experience should have given them. So where's all this knowlege and experience guys? Is it hidden under the grease?
