"To take care of my family"
This was a quote for an interview this past weekend on why he left the Wiz. I am so sick of these athletes that have no clue about money. Wilbon was on the TK show today and mentioned when KG signed that $120 million contract he turned to his agent and asked him if that was enought to take care of his family
Wilbon went on and said that some players are amazed how people can live with at least $300k in salary.
This is why the young kids need to go to school, so they can get a sense about what money is all about and reality.

To be fair here Larry does have a brother with a very bad disease and usually treatment isn't cheap. So compared to Spreewell I think he has more leeway.

I guess it is all relative.....I don't make a lot of money but to some it may seem like a lot....and when I ***** about my income they might think the same things some people do when they hear athletes complaining about their salaries....:2cents:

Why can't an athlete speak the truth for once, i left DC because I got more money elsewhere, is that so hard??
He can take care of his brother with 2 million less a year anyway.

I'm with jbooma. Relative or not, that's a BS excuse. If you left for more money, no one can fault you. But the "I need to take care of my family" garbage is a slap in the face to a LOT of people. These pro athletes could take care of their families and more with the league minimum, if they weren't braindead when it comes to the real world. Kind of makes you wish there were more guys like Ben Wallace in the league.

this weekend on nbc4 he said "it was a business decision".
who cares what his reason is? there could be more big booty girls in cleveland. it's really none of our business.

Maybe he can. Maybe he can't. But $2million extra certainly can't hurt. Plus, he gets to play with LeBron James (at least for 2 years).

Isn't Larry from Cleveland. Didn't he play college ball in Cleveland.

Larry's from St. Louis. I'm sure Cleveland's proximity to STL weighed into his decision to sign there. Especially with Larry's brother being ill.

I doubt it. You have to fly there either way... you'd only be talking about ~90 min difference.

the irony is that while Hughes and Arenas had trouble sharing the ball at times, Larry is going to face the same situation in Cleveland where LeBron James and recent addition Donyell Marshall are 'gimmee' players too

I will be flat out amazed the day that a player who leaves a team/org that he has built a rapport with can say "hey this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. My kids grandkids will be set for life. Sorry, no hard feelings."
I would respect that.

Lebron shares the ball very well, I can't say the same about Marshall though.
