Hey Guys,
I need to know what you guys think are the biggest stories of the upcoming training camp. Lets try to think outside the box a little bit about things that are really going to impact this team.

Starting Middle LB

LB depth for Lavar is Lemar Marshall ends up starting in the middle

How Ramsey looks in terms of timing and command of the offense

How the O-Line holds up (injuries) as well as picks up the blitz from GW's defense

What kind of shape ST shows up in after not working out with the Redskins

How the Receivers look in terms of getting separation

I think the team climate will be one of the most interesting aspects of camp. The malcontents (Coles and Gardner) are gone, so I think some very healthy commeraderie will develop.

Out of the box enough?

The most important thing this camp will tell is how Ramsey has vibed w/ his Recievers this offseason. This MUST be there for our team to improve.

Our lack of a short running game needs to improve, too. One of these young power backs needs to step up. I'm thinking it will be Nemo. I know some of his friends here in Charleston, and they say he's doing real well on the depth chart already.

Do you think Gibbs is going to change his offense drastically. I see these quotes that they're going to "tweak" it, but the personal they've brought in (team speed) suggest that they might be more open. Any thoughts on that?

Also, do you think that the loss of Smoot, in the lockeroom, is going to hurt the team. Who do we (as fans) view as the "core" Redskins?

I'll be very curious to see if COACH can look a little more comfortable and get calls in faster/better the beginning of this year. I love me some Gibbs, but most of last year - he looked flustered and ill prepared.

D.Mcants VS K. Dyson. Who's it gonna be?

I felt like when they were doing all those shifts and motion, the only people they were confusing was themselves. I hope they really open the offense up and do the max protection schemes a lot less. Let the offensive line do it's job, and lets get some WR's into the field. I'd love to see Jacobs, Moss, Patten, and Portis lined up 4 wide with an empty backfield.

Portis in a 4 wide?.....ala - Westbrooke from the Iggles?

I think the biggest story revolves around the success of Portis. He went through a huge drop in production last year. Things were quiet at the end of the year, but there is always a possibility Portis could create a problem if he becomes unhappy. I've thought for some time that a dooms day scenario for this team is Portis going the way of Coles. Everyone says that Gibbs is going to simply tweak the scheme to unleash Portis, but he did that in November of last year (w/ the zone stretch play and running out of the 3&4 WR sets) and the increase in production was minor. It's very possible that Portis is simply a bad fit for this offense (see the performance of Betts in the Minny game). Don't know about anyone else, but if we can't convert a 3rd and 1 next year, it isn't going to matter who the MLB is or what the chemistry in the lockerroom is like.

I don't think Portis is going to become a problem for this team. Gibbs is changing his style to better suite Portis' strengths, by doing more zone blocking and doing less counters and traps. Also, the coaching staff goes out of its way to praise Portis for his toughness. And don't forget that he's going to get a TON of carries. It's good to feel loved by your bosses, and he's going to have a huge year. You have to figure he's pissed off after all the BS runningback rankings that are coming out.

We had considerable success doing this last season w/ him. It was most prevalent in the Choicago game; we really spread them out, and Portis had some huge runs. The problem was, we didn;t really threaten them through the air, because Brunell couldn;t even hit the blindside of a barn. I saw it w/ my own eyes in a Bang! cartoon once.

How Patrick Ramsey runs the offense and is he looking over his shoulder if he makes a mistake in pre season??

I think one can tell a lot about a team by the performance of the ST's. Shows discipline IMO. Then the obivous one is how PR looks near the end of camp as opposed to the beginning.
