BEARS 20-17 W
. redskins usually win their opener. They'll squeak by an evenly matched Bears team. Home field being the difference in this one.

@ dallas L
. the Cowboys own the Redskins

SEATTLE W
. a defensive battler. squeaker win

@ denver L
. Bailey gets his revenge. Not an easy place to play. Denver simply a little better team.

@ KC L
. very tough to win on the road there.

49ERS W
. solid win

@ giants W
. toss-up. Don't know where to go with this one. I'll give DC the nod this time.

PHILLY W
. upset special Congratulations.

@ TB L
. another real toss-up. I gave last one to DC, so I'll give this one to TB Now, you got yourselves a season at this point, btw., despite the loss.

OAKLAND L
. Norv gets his revenge. Defense will not stop Collins & Co.

SAN DIEGO W
. Defense DOES stop Marty & Co.

@ ST Louis W
. what will be the Redskins best performance of the year.

@ ARIZONA L
. ding, ding, ding. I have located the game on the schedule that will be their trap game, their game that crushes their season. There's always a game or two - sometimes early in the year - sometimes late. Pay very close attention to this game. I think it'll mean the whole season. This is where Washington craps out. (hey they do it every year - usually much earlier)

DALLAS W
. Washington will finally beat the Cowboys and keep their post season hopes alive. By the way, 1 win in a million games played won't mean the Redskins aren't still owned by the Cowboys. That's going to take years to erase.

Giants L
. crusher. Tiki Barber big day.

@ Philly L
. the other NFC East team that owns the Redskins. 6-0 vs Skins since 2002.

overall 8-8, which before you lash out, is probably a better prediction than a lot of other outsiders are predicting. still, I see Washington exactly as that record would indicate - average team.

I'd change the Arizona game to a Win, because, being a road game makes it less likely to be a trap game, (not being in your home confines and all)....

9-7

Oh it's definately, without a doubt, a trap game. It is directly followed by the final 3 games of the year - all DIVISION OPPONENTS.

What about the Redskins owning the Cowboys in playoff games, that will also take years to erase.

i think that I would have to go along with everyone else here and say an 8-8 year...

However, if our offense finally starts working well together, then i definatly think that we could do some very good things.

How do the redskins own the cowboys in playoff games? To my knowlege they have only played twice and yes the redskins won both, but both were in washington. Please explain how it will take years to erase this?

I think the last Eagles game becomes an easy win for the Skins...one reason is I expect the Eagles to be resting their starters unless the Madden/T.O. curse can come through for me.

We have a tough schedule this year but i think we can pull out a 10-6 or 9-7 season, which may again be a playoff birth. It really depends on if the offense gets going. A little improvement and we get a few more points plus a defense that gets more rest and will really shut down some teams. I think a little improvement on O will result in a couple shutouts from the D

Every game is a trap game if the team doesn't show up! I think he overrates the Raiders and Cardinals. The Broncos and Chiefs both have weak defenses which the Skins might be able to exploit. Tampa Bay does not have much offense?

Because with the inability of both teams to make the playoffs in the same season, it will take many years to meet two more times.:)

BEARS W (Skins win decisively)

@ dallas W (the "Cowboy Curse" ends immediately)

SEATTLE L (close game, but still a loss)

@ denver W (Portis has a chip on his shoulder the size of a Buick, and just destroys his old team)

@ KC L (two road games back to back take a bit out of the team)

49ERS W (Impressive win)

@ giants W (If Eli Manning's been showing any promise, he slides back in his develop ment in this game)

PHILLY W (An upset, and a game the home team crowd goes nuts for)

@ TB W (Slightly messy win)

OAKLAND L (Norv gets lucky)

SAN DIEGO L (Tough one, although Ramsey looks better than Brees in this game)

@ ST Louis W (Martz really isn't that good of a coach, and get's schooled by the best)

@ ARIZONA W (Gibbs' teams tend to play well in late November and December)

DALLAS L (You KNEW it was gonna happen...)

Giants W (Eli just can't seem to shake his own "Skins Curse")

@ Philly L (Philly needs the win to capture homefield advantage, and they're at home)

10-6, most likely a wildcard...

BEARS W
. Redskins do usually win their opener. They'll wreck a bears team that is clearly outmatched but our offense is still gelling.

@ dallas L
. The Cowboys do own the Redskins

SEATTLE W
. This team does not match up to our D (WRs anyone?) and they can't hold up against the run. I smell the first blowout of the year.

@ denver W
. The skins have gone to Denver when they were a stronger team and we had a slightly weaker D. We still beat them.

@ kansas city L
. I can't see us matching up with Gonzo unless we bring Taylor up to the line of scrimmage on every play.

49ERS W
. This will be a confidence maker.

@ giants W
. The Giants are gonna get swept by us this season. Manning wasn't ready for our D last year, and Williams will have plenty in store for him this upcoming season. I see us as being the Pats for this particular Manning.

PHILLY L
. They be picking up steam at this point and it will be really friggin close. Turnovers will be key.

@ tampa bay W
. This one isn't a tossup. Our secondary will be too much for them to handle. They have a rookie RB, whom if anything like Kevin Jones or Julius Jones, won't start producing until 12 games in. Their D is clearly not as good as it once was. We beat them last season and they didn't really show too much improvement as last year progressed.

OAKLAND L
. This will be closer than you think. Especially considering it is at home. I can see us neutralizing Moss and Porter, but Jordan scares me. He has that power running thing that works against us.

SAN DIEGO L
. This being at home is what makes this a possible victory. Gates, Tomlinson, Brees, and McCardell will be a pain to handle though.

@ st louis L
. A perennial playoff team that has the tools on both sides of the ball. It really is a tossup but I see us losing.

@ arizona W
. Psssht. We'll own these guys because Warner will get hit every other play. By midgame, he'll think he's playing for the skins. Springs will be his go-to receiver.

DALLAS W
. The Cowboys own us, but this won't be their day. We should have won both times last year. Our players won't take this day lightly.

GIANTS W
. Tiki Barber's big day? Hmm... Last year => 42 yards rushing followed by a career game (38 yards). While Pierce will be missed, he won't make a difference for this upcoming season. Williams knows what he is doing and either Holdman or Marshall are more than adequate as replacements.

@ philly W
. They'll be resting, and we'll be out in full force.

10-6. That's really weird... I didn't see us winning this many games before. Tossups include Dallas (as always), Oakland, San Diego, St. Louis, and Denver.

The rest of your predictions are decent, too. I just think the Skins are going to surprise a lot of teams this year.

Last year is no way to base what is going to happen this year. Remember Gibbs 2nd year as a head coach in 1982?

Dallas fans like to ignore the fact that the Redskins own them in the playoffs, but we'll hear about the 10 game winning streak for another 40 years.

reguardless, 2 championship games, one in 82' and one in 72' doesn't mean one team owns the other. You guys were simply the better team each game (which is why you guys were at home in each one). The reason why we own you guys is because weather we're better or worse and weather we're at home or away we beat you guys. When you guys beat us at Texas Stadium in a playoff game where we're the favorites, then maybe you can say you own us.

I, too, smell "Cowboy's Fan", but overall, I believe his assessment of the coming season is pretty close to fair. The homer in me sees an 11 or 12 win season, but I'm going to do my best to not use my Burgundy & Gold tinted glasses here.....

BEARS: WIN! I don't see any way in hell we could lose this game.

@ dallas: LOSS! I don't think this outcome will have anything to do with officiating or dumb luck. I see both teams simply playing their collective @$$3$ off, but Dallas just outplays us..... again (dammit!)

SEATTLE: WIN! I don't know what it is, but even when Seattle is playing well and we suck, we still seem to find ways to beat them. This will be no different.

@ denver: WIN! I think we have more than enough defense to shut down their offense, and enough offense to get by their defense. I think Yamaha was right on the money with his assessment of Portis playing with a chip on his shoulder!

@ KC: LOSS! Again, I agree with Yamaha regarding how we'll stumble our 2nd week on the road, but I see this as being a relatively close game. Our "D" will keep their offense in check enough for the game to be close, but I think our offense will just be playing "flat".....

49ERS: WIN! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!! I'm sorry, it won't even be close!

@ giants: WIN! But I suspect this will be a squeaker... Our "D" is responsible for this win.

PHILLY: LOSS! Another close game, but McNabb again pulls some heartbreaking late game heroics....

@ TB: WIN! This is what I see as a bit of a lesson in football from Gibbs to Gruden. Last years win just wasn't convincing. Face it, we won that game because of one GREAT play from Portis. But this time, Gibbs offense rises to the task and demonstrates why he is in the Hall of Fame.....

OAKLAND: WIN! C'mon, we're talking Gibbs vs. the Norv. Don't think for a MINUTE that this date is not already circled on the Redskins calendar as being a CRUCIAL GAME!!!!!!! I expect the 'Skins to completely PWN the Raiders.....

SAN DIEGO: LOSS! Brees and the Bolts are on another rampage, proving to the world that last year was not a fluke.

@ ST Louis: WIN! I gotta admit that this pick is based on pure homerism. I personally believe that Mike Martz, a very good offensive coordinator, is NOT head coach material. I'm sorry, but I truly feel he is to blame for the end of the Ram's domination of the NFL due to his playcalling. IMHO, he left Kurt Warner & Marshall Faulk out on separate desert isles unable to work together and win ball games. He kept trying to win ballgames with Kurt's passing rather than set it up through Faulk's running. You think he would have learned that from Vermeil, right? Well, now Gibbs is going to teach him (in SPADES!!!!) when Ramsey & Portis completey DISMANTLE the Rams through a balanced attack!

@ ARIZONA: LOSS! I hate hate HATE to pick this, but I do see the 'Skins faltering. I suspect that the team simply stumbles after the success of their game in St. Louis.

DALLAS: WIN! Utter & Complete Domination! Imagine this.... Chilly December game, the home crowd is riled up beyond all belief, we've 8 wins already and are in contention with both Philly and Dallas for a playoff berth and/or Wildcard slot. Remember the noise at FedEx Field when we played Detroit in our last playoff game! That will feel TAME compared to the energy in the stadium for this game!!!!!!!!! Our team FEEDS on this energy and simply CRUSHES the Holsteins into a gooey paste......

Giants: WIN! I really don't see how the Gnats will beat us with a 2nd year QB this year.

@ Philly: WIN! This will be a game that will be talked about for years and years to come, spoken in tones of hushed reverence! The game will come down to the wire, and won in the final 2 minutes, either by our offense stepping up with the crucial score, or our Defense rising to the task and shutting McNabb down......

FINAL RECORD: 11-5 and a playoff berth, though it may be a Wild Card behind the Eagles. (If so, it will be because the Eagles beat the Cowboys twice, beating us out for division winner on interconference record)

Okay, I have to admit that the Homer in me is still strong. This is the NFL and the rule of "Any Given Sunday...." is truly the only rule that matters. My above predictions are assuming we have no further distractions or major injuries to overcome. But as I've already mentioned.... this *is* the NFL..... ANYTHING can happen......

I'm prety shure this is true, I'm a horible speler ;) . Seriously though, does that mean that mean prior to 2002 did the Eagles own the bucs in playoff games? And did it take years for the Bucs to erase that? Did the Packers own the 49ers in playoff games prior to 1998 or do they still own them. Or if you guys lost to the Giants in the NFC championship game this season, do they own you guys in playoff games.

Not this year, guys. Sorry, this is the only game on your schedule in which I am actively rooting against the Skins.

It IS the preseason, and therefore too early to tell anything for sure, but Seattle has a revamped and healthy defensive line. Linebackers are a question mark (except for Sharper), secondary looks solid. D'Pablo's prediction that the Hawks can't stand up against the run won't hold water this year, unless we have a lot of injuries.

Shawn Alexander is back, and we have recievers now that can actually hold onto a pass when it hits them in the hands.

Of course, any given Sunday... which is why they play the game. Khun Kao may be right, but I'm hoping not.

By the way, I'm encouraged by the guys on this thread predicting a 10-6 or 9-7 season. I hope you do well, and I hope to meet you in the post season.

Do me a favor and smoke the Cowboys' @$$. Twice.

You're a Seahawks fan? I always thought you were a Cowturd fan. Oh well, you're a lot cooler now that I know that. ;)

Unfortunately for you and the Seahawks, you lost your two best players on defense, Okeafor and Lucas. Offensively you're always pretty good, but you'd be much better if that dumb@ss Holmgren would commit to the run. If he did that, I think Alexander would have 2500 yards and 38 TDs. But he calls a run play, Alexander gains 8 yards, then he proceeds to call 2 passing plays that get dropped. I don't get it. (The reason I know this, by the way, is because I had Alexander on my fantasy team last year so I tried to catch as many Seahawks games as possible).

Anyway, hope you guys smoke the Turds as well!

Oh, I've hated the Cowboys ever since that "America's Team" nonsense. (You thought I was a Cowboys fan? What ever gave you that idea?) (I hate the frikkin Cowboys!)

Losing Lucas was a blow, certainly, but I wouldn't rank Okeafor as one of the two best players. Maybe one of the two best uninjured players. But we seem to have offset the Lucas loss with Dyson and Herndon, and the D-line has more beef on it than it has for a long time. (Keep in mind, I'm tracking the Seahawks preseason like you guys are tracking the Skins preseason.)

Regarding the call-playing, the calls were good if the ball gets to the receivers' hands. But at that point they're supposed to CATCH THE $#*!^ BALL! That's their job -- is it too much to ask?

Apparently it was. Well, we finally dumped our 1st round pick of a few years ago, and picked up a few receivers that have more of a reputation for good hands, so we'll see.

yeah, ok. This from a Redskins fan. Get over 8-8 for once then talk to me about the playoffs.

Still sore from last year, eh?

Only thing that makes sense, because I really don't give a damn about the Seahawks one way or the other and can't for the life of me figure out why you don't feel the same about us.

Your team has a load of talent, they just can't seem to get over the hump. Personally, I think it's because of a lack of heart and toughness.

This year I expect you or the Rams to win the NFC WEST. Hope I'm right and good luck.

I'm a Seahawk fanatic, but that doesn't mean I can't like other teams. There are teams I like, teams I don't care about at all, teams I don't like and teams I can't stand. I like the Skins, don't like the Eagles and can't stand the Cowboys.

But you're right, I'm still sore about last year (the whole season with dropped passes and 4th quarter disintegrating defense in general, the Cowboys game and the 4th quarter touchdown-with-only-one-foot-inbounds in particular). And I'm looking at this year to make me feel better.

Thanks for the well wishes. Likewise!

Golly gee willikers Yamaha, you've got me so angry with your trolling! Now you can walk around with the satisfaction of getting under my skin, which will hopefully alleviate some of the brutal, painful reality that is your life.

I'm so glad we could help you. BTW, my friend just got his PHD in psychiatry, so PM me if you need the name of a good psychoanalyst in your area.
