View Full Version : I'm starting to wonder about this Tayman guy...

Some of his toons are funny. But there seems to be a nasty slant to how people are percived.
Tayman makes the Poston brothers out to be an Amos & Andy minstrel show because they demand more money for their clients. But when Rosenhaus does it, he's the slick, smooth pimp daddy. How come he isn't turned into a caricature/stereotype?
Maybe the criticisms of him are valid. I certainly am beginning to be swayed by his detractors...

??? You thought Rosenhaus wasn't a caricature?

I turned Rosenhaus into a sleazy slippery greaseball with oily hair who kicked a child into the pool. I made him talk in my best Hannibal Lecter accent. (Last I checked, he isn't really perceived as a nice guy. If his name had not ended in "haus" I would have made him talk like Tony Soprano.)
Would you prefer he be a redneck like the four white folks i made fun of in the first 30 seconds of the cartoon ... (By the way, I INDEED inferred that every white person in Central Florida lived in a dumpy trailer park and wore rebel flags. So, if you're white, and live in central Florida, go ahead and write me your nasty emails)? Or maybe you thought I was glorifying them with their strong personas....
or maybe you'd prefer the backwoods hick I made Brett Favre into? Or the squeaky voiced old feeb I turned Sherman into?
Which white stereotype should I make to shut you idiots up?

Here's some advice. If you have a problem with Bang's cartoons, then why not discuss it with him in private? There is a pm option on this site. There is no need to call out anyone over the internet. Besides, all he is doing is having some fun. I enjoy his cartoons as well as others who have already posted.

You ever watch Comic View on BET? Def Comedy Jam? Chris ROck? Martin Lawrence? The Scary Movie series? How about Harold and Kumar?
Seriously, if you have and laughed you owe John an apology posthaste.

I don't need any apology. What I'd like is for this guy to learn from this.
Dude, your desire to find racism and injustice clouds your eyes.
In this cartoon I made fun of no less than FOUR white stereotypes, and they went right by you unnoticed.
the four hicks in the beginning were definitely stereotypes, no? Brett Favre's character was a stereotype, no?
Mike Sherman's character was as mocking as can be, and his weak and frightened demeanor is a stereotype I've played up in many white characters I've used.
And Drew rosenhaus' character is as greasy and oily as i could make him. You said I turned the Poston's into "amos n andy" because all they want is more money for their clients. In fact, i made them beligerent because they don't just 'try to get money" they get ridiculous, which is why i had them demanding things like massages, etc.
Rosenhaus I turned into a kidnapper who was threatening the other team with 'never seeing them again", yet you say I glorify him to the point of making him a 'smooth and slick pimp daddy".
You don't even see what I turned him into because it doesn't fit the same characterizations I did with the Postons.
Should I just have repeated the Poston cartoon, subbing them with Drew, and Butch Davis with Mike Sherman?
BUT, if I have one guy talk in a 'black' voice, I bet you pick right up on it. I bet if I had had Javon Walker running thru Disney world asking people "where Space Mountain be at?" you'd have picked right up on it, and thought of me in all sorts of nasty ways.
But the fact is that my racist humor directed towards whites went RIGHT BY YOU. You didn't even SEE it, and it was throughout the cartoon.
Now, was my humor racist in origin? Nah, not really,, making fun of trailer park Nascar lovers is fun, no matter what color they are. Was my portrayal of Favre being a dumbass hick because he is simply white? Nah, I did it because it was FUNNY. Do i really think Brett Favre doesn't know what 9 times 6 is?
How about the totally ineffectual, weak voiced frightened old man I turned Sherman into. No problems there? No agism there?
Look, man. If you're going to get mad at me, fine. I don't mind. But at least use your head first. Bash me for EVERYTHING I do, not just selectively.
Hopefully you re-watch the cartoon, and notice how the white racist stereotypes slid right by you, because they don't offend you. You don't ev en notice them, because to you, either racism towards whites is acceptable, or you truly think that is how whites are, and you didn't think it was out of the ordinary.
Either way, i hope that you'll be able to see something about yourself.
And for the record, in the future, I am going to make fun of whites, blacks, asians, hispanics, retards, gays, liberals, conservatives, and everyone else... but mostly rich pampered athletes and the people that are around them.
So you may not want to tune in.

Well this was an interesting read.
Bang: You made your case. My feeling was that you went soft on Rosenhaus because he was Jewish, and you didn't want to take the "anti-semetic" criticism. But it seems that's not the case. I brought it up because I wanted to know, and I did not even know that you posted on this board.
Everyone else: I did indeed go back and watch every toon. And yes, Bang is very balanced overall. But I can also see how someone could take him the wrong way after seening only a few toons. I was one of those people, and for that I apologise to Tayman.
RonJeremy: Tabitha Stevens is a man-faced, horse toothed trash bag. And a liar to boot...

Well, I always welcome criticism, even if I disagree. Doing what I do does open me up to barbs, some have had merit, others have not.
Suffice to say there are things that have been said to me in the past that have tempered what I have done since. In a lot of other topics, I wag my finger and tell folks to listen, so I try to do that.
I appreciate your post, and I appreciate all the support that folks give me, and I appreciate that you are gracious in debate.
Welcome to the boards!
