You didn't say how many people you're grilling for...I grill for 2 and use the Toolbox Grill, (the charcoal version)...I've been using it for 2 years and it works great! I'm not sure how to post links, but here's the web address...hope this helps!

Theres no question that if you're looking for to upgrade and don't need a huge grill, get one of the weber kettle grills. You can get a small version perfect for NFL tailgating, or a larger one for home.
They can't be beat for charcoal grilling on a small scale.

Thought I'd bump this old thread to get two separate but related pieces of advice.
First, georgiaredskin and I need a good quality grill that's small enough to keep and use on a third-floor balcony. Some places don't allow charcoal grills on wooden balconies, so we need to check on that, but we're probably looking at gas. Being portable enough to take to tailgates is a definite plus. Money shouldn't be an issue as long as we're paying for a good product without lots of unnecessary features.
Second, my sister wants to get a grill for her apartment at college. Money is more of an issue in this case - she'll probably have some financial help from my parents, but we want to keep the cost reasonable. Gas or charcoal shouldn't matter, but my roommates and I had so much trouble getting enough heat out of a Mini-Weber that we had to give up on it. Smaller is generally going to be better, except it needs to be able to stay hot even when it starts getting cold outside.
Thanks guys!

Look at my earlier post...the toolbox grill will fit your needs...they make both a gas and charcoal version. The gas uses those small 1lb propane cylinders.
I have the charcoal version, for tailgates, but a buddy of mine has the slightly larger propane version and he loves it. It sounds perfect for you guys....
