I'm of two minds on this. No doubt this is a cool thing, (www.terrafly.com) and a great excuse to avoid working for a few minutes this afternoon ... but, it also serves to remind us yet again just how much "information" is out there.
If we can do this, on our own private PC's, using nothing but publicly available data, rest assured there are agencies out there, using real-time technology, that can count the dimples on your arse when you're out nude sunbathing in your back yard.
Next time you are, I heartily recommend fantasizing for a few minutes about two of your favorite femmes frolicking in a tub of honey, then rolling over and offering whomsoever may be watching a big salute.

Cool, but those pics are at least five or more years old. My house isn't there, nor are any of my rural nieghbor.

My street doesn't even exist in these pics. Our street is 4-5 yrs
old. I wanted to see if my arse was as big from satellite as
my wife says.

Pretty cool bro. You can actually see enough detail to tell that there's a large object in my back yard, the swing set I just took down.
Wish my drivway looked that clean while standing in it:doh:

Yeah, the pics are older than you'd really like to see. Still, I suspect getting access to and affording that kind of satellite imagery, over an area the size of North America, ain't like ordering more copier paper for a modest web site. Pretty damn ambitious, though.
Half considering e-mailing the webmaster for more info and some idea of if/when they'll be able to update.

Isn't this the data from the Russian satellites? I remember a site similar to this about 4 or 5 years ago... maybe 3... I don't remember. If it is the Russian stuff it is closer to 10 years old.
I would guess it is at least 8 years old. The lot beside my house was wooded when I bought this place in 93. I believe my next door neighbors built that house in 94 or at the latest very early 95. Still neat though.

The site uses some pics from "Space Imaging." I went to their site and found some Baltimore area pics that date from 2001. Of course, on the free pics you coulldn't make out a football field, much less a pimple.

Pretty cool.
I just flew over the Keys for the first time since 1988. :)
I like being able to pull back enough to see all of the Keys and then zooming in close enough to see the cars on A1A heading into Key West.
