View Full Version : Should Boller be starting for the Ravens?

I ask because after watching the replay of their game at home against Philly. I felt like I was watching Ramsey, only in purple, and more lost looking.

What's the deal up there? He's the man, right? He's started maybe 5 or 6 games more than Ramsey, but has thrown less TD's? Why isn't he being questioned at all up there?

Because they have a tight D, and running game..... nobody seems to wonder.

This is like asking does a bear poop in the woods.

The clear answer is yes.....

Oh Ravens fans are questioning all right.

I don't feel like I'm watching Ramsey AT ALL, when watching Boller. Ramsey has had sustained 'flashes' of brilliance and thrown for 300 plus yards and eaten up good defenses at times.

They just ask Boller to throw a long ball on occasion and not ___ it all up. Big time difference. I don't know if he'll ever be a solid QB. Whereas as soon as I saw Ramsey before the Skins drafted him, I just got that vibe.

Oh, and that he has started MORE games than Ramsey, coming in the league later, just shows me that (aside from Ram's season-ending injury late in 2003) that Pat hasn't gotten the support that even a total scrub like Boller has gotten from his organization.

Anthony Wright looked pretty damn good in the few games he started a few years ago. I'm not sure he can consistently play up to that level, but he definately showed me more than Boller has to date.

I think the Ravens have too much invested in Boller to bench him at this point. They're going to keep him in and hope he improves (which I don't see happening).

they really dont have many options do they? I dont see him having the career year that they predict anyways.

I went to the Ravens-Eagles game on Saturday (don't ask, cousin is a Ratbird fan, we don't really speak about him in the family, but the tix were free) and I must say Boller looks even worse in person. The guy aims every throw and has no real idea of how to place the ball. He threw two UGLY picks, and showed very little in two quarters of work. I think Ravens fans would kill to have Ramsey instead of Boller, and seeing him makes me even more happy to have Patrick.

I don't see how you can say anything, this is a skins board, go back to that joke of a site extremeravens....ramsey is definetly better than boller by the way, so yea, someone wants to say something about boller, let them, because he sucks balls, plain as that

I think with the ravens drafting Derek Anderson of Oregon State they put Boller on notice (Just like the Skins did with drafting Jason Campbell). Anderson is proving himself to be one of the steals of the draft. He probably won't start this year, but after he learns the offense Wright and Boller better watch their backs.
he is already becoming one of Billick's favorites and is learning quickly.

Anthony Wright more than earned that job awhile ago

Actually as bad as our offense was last year, Ramsey had a better year than Boller:

G GS Att Cmp Pct Yards YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate
Ramsey
2004 9 7 272 169 62.1 1665 6.12 51 10 11 23/137 17 2 74.8
Boller:
2004 16 16 464 258 55.6 2559 5.52 57 13 11 35/247 28 4 70.9

But with two fewer starts than Boller and with his first two seasons under one of the worst coaches in recent football memory, Ramsey has done a good bit more with less over his career. I'm not saying he's an all pro, but Boller is definately on the verge of bust status. Plus you traded away a first round pick to NE to get him based on a videotape that he mailed the Ravens, while we traded down to get Ramsey and acquired extra pics:

Ramsey
Career 29 23 836 465 55.6 5370 6.42 64 33 28 71/475 70 10 74.4
Boller
Career 27 25 688 374 54.4 3819 5.55 73 20 20 52/339 46 7 68.1

well, its begun.

NFL Sirus this morning had the angry Raven's fan who's calling for Bollers head.

"He's taken steps backwards, we've got better QB's on the Roster.....he'll be our downfall" etc, etc.

I'm not saying Ramsey is MUCH better than Kyle. But Kyle does have a knack for making other QB's look good.

Ramsy isnt any better then boller, what the point of comparin too really bad QBs? Which one is worse? it a competition? anyway we might be gettin a new QB before trade deadline if it doesnt work out and i'd suggest Philip Rivers, great throw accuracy and young

Ramsey and Boller are both playing this year to keep their careers as starting QB's.

I think Patrick will keep his; but this will be Kyles last season.

i dont think so, Redskins have a great backup so his position is up at a lot more risk and he hasnt improved at all since his rookie season.

Kyle Boller and the ravens have no decent backup QBs and His QB Rating has gone up by at least 5 a season and has shown improvement from now to his rookie year.

Then why is everybody in Baltimore screaming for Anthony Wright to start???

Mark these words "Boller will not be a Raven in 2006-2007 season".

I'd take Grimlock over Kyle Boller anyday..

only about 10% of ravens fans want Wright to start, i dont think Boller is nothin good either but ill give em til the trade deadline and i hope we get a new QB by then if he doesnt do good. Best Choices are Mcmahon on eagles and Rivers on Chargers.

Well i doubt mcMahon, considering he was just signed. And if Brees isnt having a great year then no way are you getting Rivers.

And the reason there is no media about it is because the media are homers for the Ravens.

want to talk Skins? then go to the main board.

If you don't want to look inward, then that's fine.

But don't come and try defending the Browns so much around here. Its like trying to defend a QB after the whistle with Goose still playing. Its going to late....and its going to be cheap....and no flag is going to come from it.

p.s.- at least around here we're happy to call for the backup.

Stop defending one player. Nobody is ripping the D or the running game........ and I'd say there is alittle more than 10% of Browns that would like Wright to start. He has a bigger upside.

Billick never should have let Dilfer get away -- every qb he has handpicked has been a colossal failure in Baltimore. Boller had one good year in college -- he's a Jeff Tedford product and those guys haven't exactly lit up the league. Dilfer is a solid vet who won't mistakes. Carr could be good, but doesn't look like a superstar. Akili Smith was a bust. Aaron Rodgers is going to be one. Boller, well you can tell just by the way he throws he's never going to amount to much in this league.

The Ravens seriously should have gone after Dilfer again. With that D and running game and with Dilfer not making any mistakes while moving the chains, heck they could be as good as the media seems to think they already are.

We should have kept Dilfer even though hes nothin great, your right on that. he could at least get us to another superbowl by now. but, its not like Ramsy isnt also a bust. Boller and Ramsy will amount to the same by the end of their career.

I call them the Browns because that's where the team's history is from.... before Modell ripped them out from Cleveland for some cash and Purple Uni's.

If the NFL wanted Baltimore to have a new team, they should of gotten the expansion franchise. How do you take a team out of a city like Cleveland? You wouldn't move the Broncos or Chiefs. That whole situation is sickening.

Especially after the whole Colts fiasco, I would of thought that if ANYBODY knew the meaning of keeping a team with its fans, it would be those in Baltimore.

I guess not.

ya so there should be no titans, panthers,or jags either? and no rams cuz they moved anymore right?

The Rams moving was BS also, Georgia Frontier or whatever her name is, just snatched that team out.

Ummm, the Panthers and Jags were expansion.

But I agree on the Titans also.

However, in the modern 24/7 era of the NFL. It was well documented what those fans in Cleveland went through because of that jerk Modell.
