Skins Fans Tools Of Destruction!
I'm writing to see if we as a colective unit of Redskins fans can come up with something that we can carry to games and show the team support. The Philadelaphia Fleegles like to sing and make songs about there players.
Tonight, our Redskins beat the pittsburgh Squeelers. Now the squeelers are known for there "terrible towel" in which they all wave like maniacs during the game. I have no problem with that, but think we Skins fans need something to show the support to the gujys on the field. If I had something that I bring with me to every game to wave instead of the bottle of Rum, I bet we could get some ol' skinsz feelings!
Tonight there were some gothic glue sniffers walking around appolo dr. with a banner saying "This is Steelers country", I was watching them walk in a small parade, thank god our victory shut them down.
And was also really really happy not to see the crowd do the wave when the offense was at work, I know doing the wave is fun, and it wakes the crowd up, but don't do it when our offense is trying to score. The wave is supposed to distract the opposing team and hlep them lose train of thought.
Thats about it, but I do want Washignton to get something to wave, hell i just got done watching tht american bowl. The Japanesse fans had little peiece of White boards.C'mon team get us something to do besides drinking 8 dollar drinks, thanks danny boy

Heck, if I had tickets and was close, I'd bring a beach towel to wave.

Yeah, Danny should sell replicas of those new booty huggers our cheerleaders wear to wave around.

I agree we need something to add to the environment. Maybe Danny boy would splurge and start handing out burgandy and yellow towells at every game so all fans have one.

Speaking of which does Danny Boy ever hand anything out to the fans? Something like this would get more than ye ole Die Hards off of thier feet.

I think thisis a great thread, watching the game from home last night and saw the terrible towells and was like WTF, we need something to get the not so diehard skins fans into the game.

Lets get little flags that stay Hail to the Redskins, sell them for 5 dollars. Good Revenue for Danny Boy, plus it gives us something to wake around and liven up the place!

Every opening season game we get a magnetic schedule for the season, suitable for the 'fridge. I remember earlier, back in the first couple years, they'd hand out these little pins with various Redskins logos and Gatorade logos, I guess you're supposed to stick them on your ball cap, but I didn't like being an advertisement for Gatorade. We've never really been given anything substantial except those magnetics.
I never had season tix at RFK, but I remember the few games I went to (about one a year), once I got a nice Redskins neck warmer -- one of those loop deals made of cotton with some kind of elastic in them you could put around your neck or your head. It's very nice, I still have it today, and they're a must for cold weather. It was completely free. Another game, we were all given gold seat cushions with a Mobil 1 ad on one side. That was the playoff game vs. Atlanta on our way to the last super bowl. That seat cushion, of course, learned how to fly that day, so I don't have it anymore. Some probably remember the seat cushion game. ;-)
I guess those days of getting nice useful gifts at the gate are over.

Well, it would probably get the PC police even more enraged, but the natural answer would be Tomohawks...

I'd say foam tomahawks before a few games. Sure its a rip off of the Braves, but it's still pretty cool, especially given the recent crap the ncaa has done.

Someone with connections needs to send this thread to Napoleon and see if he can make it happen. I couple hundred thousand dollars worth of free merchandise wouldnt hurt the mans wallet.

I'm sure he remembers getting gifts when he went to games as a kid. But obviously he has decided to discontinue the practice to save a few bucks.

I dunno if this is too cliche or what, or even original at all, but I thought if everyone had metal old school lunch pales and a sturdy metal spoon and a good number of people were banging them when we are on Defense, itd make quit a bit of noise and represent the type of attitude the defense plays with. Dunno if they will let people bring a metal anything into the stadium however, I doubt it

I think thats a great idea. Would you like to be the maestro? I wonder how you or we as Redskins fans could get this started?

I'm not sure that that would qualify as either new or cool. More like tired and trite. The Seminoles and Braves have been doing it for a looooong time.

What about Redskins! Go Redskins!! Redskins !!! Go Redskins or something along those lines. If the entire stadium is in on it I think it would be an impressive sounding. I think the packers have something similar.

It would have to be something visible, rather than audible. There's no way to get thousands of people in sync with something audible. I hate to admit it, but the terrible towel thing is perfect. Those seat cushions taking flight back in Jan '92 were probably the best fan celebration the NFL has ever seen.
How about square sheets of burgundy and gold cardboard? Each fan brings in ten squares or gets ten squares at the gate. Corners would be rounded for safety. They'd be cheap, light, easy to carry. Launch 'em towards the field for every score. Snyder could hire a few extra guys to do the clean up. They could be handed right back out (recycled) at the gates for the next game, protecting the environment.
It would be great fun, until somebody loses an eye.

I went to see a baseball game in Japan this past summer (the Chiba Lotte Marines) and after the 4th inning, the cheerleaders and mascots came out and started dancing, and suddenly, something called the "VICTORY FIRE!" was announced. As it turned out, it was a bunch of fireworks.
Then during the 7th inning stretch, I noticed everyone in the stadium blowing up these balloons that looked like sperm cells (I don't know how else to describe it). I was perplexed, to say the last, but the announcer told everyone to release and it was pretty cool to see these balloons flying all over the stadium.
I don't know if these things are applicable to the Redskins, I just thought I'd throw some random ideas out there. :)
