View Full Version : Coaching Nemo

Anyone who knows me here knows that I have wanted Nemo in a Redskins uniform since I saw him at the combine. I went to my first training camp this off-season and even got a chance to converse with the guy a little bit. Believe me when I tell you that he is a genuinely nice guy. The thing that had always struck me as being a little strange was..."why did a 250lb RB who damn near ran a 4.4 40, last until the 7th round"? Well, as much as I like the guy, I think that I am starting to see a couple of the reasons in why he lasted so long. The biggest thing that I had noticed was his vision. It just seems to me that he has a little trouble in finding running lanes. Balance. For a 250lb RB Nemo goes down a bit too easily. Sometimes it seems like that he is surging/leaning forward so much that he goes down with the slightest of touch . I remember seeing him a couple of times hitting a hole, but falling foward, when actually, with his speed, he could have burst into daylight for a big gainer. I am still a Nemo fan and hope that good coaching will help him prosper on this team. But because I want the Redskins to win more than my wish for any individual to make the team...Rock is starting to look like our 53 man roster type back. However, this is just IMHO. :)

why I don't think he will make the active roster is his 3 fumbles in three games.

I don't know what you were watching but I thought he looked stronger on his runs than Rock did.

Have to agree with redman on this one.

I never said that Nemo wasn't a strong runner or that he didn't look as strong as Rock. I was just saying that I noticed that it seemed like he had a little trouble at times finding the hole. He also seemed to lean and run with his head down, sometimes missing some potential lanes where he could have displayed some of that speed burst. In my original thread, I didn't even bother to mention the fumbles.

Trade Portis!

Start Betts, Rock, or Nemo.

Sorry, with all the Brunell/Ramsey threads I just had to say it.

i think he's serious. we should package him w/ jansen and arrington and see if we can pick up a 4th round pick next year. i've had enough w/ the o-line and lb controversies too.

Keep Jansen, package Portis up with Arrington and Samuels. Throw in Thomas and Dockery for good measure. Oh yeah, don't forget about ST; all those legal troubles should be another FO's problem. And to make it an irresistable offer, top it off with Coach Gibbs. We all know he's too old to coach anymore, but another team would be willing to take a chance on him just in case he's got a little something left.

Don't forget it took Stephen Davis a couple of years to adjust to the pro game. I like Nemo's running style, downhill, and brutal. He is always moving forward when he goes down. The vision is hard to judge, it may prove to be his weakness. I didn't strike me that his balance was poor, maybe a little to much forward lean.
