Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals added a pair of veteran defenders Tuesday, signing linebacker Hannibal Navies and safety Ifeanyi Ohalete. Details of the Navies contract were not yet available. Ohalete signed a one-year contract for $540,000.
The addition of Ohalete came as the Bengals feared that starting strong safety Kim Herring could be lost for the season because of a shoulder injury that he suffered in last Friday night's preseason loss at Philadelphia. With Herring sidelined for at least the foreseeable future, in the best-case scenario, coach Marvin Lewis moved backup free safety Kevin Kaesviharn into the No. 1 strong safety spot.
