Ramsey shaken up, leaves game

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- Washington Redskins quarterback Patrick Ramsey left Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears in the second quarter after a ferocious hit by linebacker Lance Briggs.

Briggs came on a blitz, leaped to get past right tackle Jon Jansen and reached with his right arm to clobber Ramsey neck-high. Ramsey went down immediately and fumbled. Adewale Ogunleye recovered for Chicago, denying the Redskins a chance for a field goal.

Mark Brunell entered for the Redskins while trainers massaged Ramsey's sprained neck on the sideline. Ramsey was OK by halftime, but coach Joe Gibbs stuck with Brunell for the rest of the 9-7 victory.

Gibbs would not say whether Ramsey or Brunell will start next week at Dallas. The coach also said Briggs should have been penalized.

``Unless I missed something, that should have been 15 yards if I have ever seen it,'' Gibbs said. ``We are supposed to be watching the quarterbacks and protecting them.''

This is irking me, when the media says "Ramsey was OK by halftime" What do they mean by OK? Are they just TRYING to stir up trouble to manufacture enough material for the next six days, or was Ramsey literally back to playing condition and Gibbs just simply didn't put him back in?

I know Gibbs was mad about the INT, but no way in hell could he have blamed Ramsey for the fumble.

I was actually more concerned he had a concussion. Glad he didn't. Ramsey is tough.

A neck sprain will hurt, but I wonder if they can give him a shot of cortizone to get him ready to play next week? Any word on the injury?
