The first game of the season is never a good predictor. Chemistry hasn't developed. Things happen. Heck, look at all the "upsets" yesterday. Remember the Pats opening game against the Bills 2 years ago. They got creamed, and everyone predicted their demise following the release of Lawyer Milloy. Ummm yeah.

I'm a huge Ramsey supporter, but I'll admit I was glad to see Brunell take over against the Bears. Why? Because I knew the Bears offense would never be able to drive down the field against us, and I was getting quite paranoid PR would turn the ball over. Also, I was curious if Brunell's better performances in preseason would carry over. Clearly he has his arm back, but yesterday showed me he is more of a game manager a la Dilfer than anything else. I agree with Gibbs decision to leave Brunell in, but I'd still rather see St. Pat starting against Dallas. We'll need to score more than 9 points next week.

If Hall is out for the season, that makes it the 3rd time in 6 years our placekicker has gone on IR. That's gotta be a record! :(

I'm not sure which of the announcers gaffes bothered me more; the constant reference to Scott Brunell (dumbass!), or when they said Commisioner Pete Rozelle was visiting the victims of Katrina. :yikes:

I am more worried about the upcoming Cowboys game then I've ever been in recent memory. I hate to admit it, but Parcells is still one of the league's best talent evaluators. Then again, I'm looking forward to seeing our guys CREAM Bledsoe.

Why did all the mediots think the Cleveland Broncos were going to be a good team this year?

Losing Randy Moss isn't going to hurt the Vikings quite as much as losing OC Scott Linehan. Look for the Lions (yes, the Lions, to win that division) Green Bay won't recover from losing one of the best OL in football.

The Dolphins are going to start very strong, but will likely fade as Gus gets rattled midway through the season. Still, look for them to finish ahead of the Jets (sorry, Flow).

The next time Antonio Brown fumbles, he'll be looking for work elsewhere.

Gibbs teams traditionally started out slowly (aside from the 83 and 91 teams). Yesterday's anemic offense is VERY troubling, but may not be quite as foreboding as some of us fear (I hope).

Adding the shotgun looks like a big plus. I also loved that we were giving Portis some draw plays.

It'll be hard to keep the DAL offense to 7 pts. We have to put some points on the board next Monday.

Miami may do better than everyone thinks. Their running game will improve, and Frerotte could pull a good season out of his *****.

Gibbs has always been great at tailoring his offense around his talent. I think his adjustments to Portis' running style is going to be a huge success this year. No more sub-4.0 yards per carry.

Based on what I saw yesterday, I wouldn't rule out Chicago to be in the mix in the North as well.

They have one hell of a defense and I was impressed with Orton's poise and arm even though he didn't have a big game.

{who cares about Miami? it's all about the 'Skinz, baby!!}

Holding them to 7 will be hard, but not impossible. Everyone's too busy criticizing the offense to give credit to our "Tenacious" D (I couldn't resist:laugh:). They won't treat us like the Chargers mediocre defense. We son't win without touchdowns, though.

Great observation about Gibbs - give that work-a-holic some credit. Portis is stepping it up in a big way. I think he wants to go down in history as one of the greatest Redskins of all time and he's putting in the work to earn that privilege. Let's not forget our history - "we are the chamions, my friend":notworthy

I will admit......Orton played much better than I thought he would. That alone, makes me appreciate the 12th man EVEN MORE. Without the 12th man, he certainly could have lead a scoring drive.

Offense:

1. We have a great OL. Don't know what would happend if God forbid one of our guys gets hurt because I don't think we have the depth but as of right now this line is great.

2. Portis and Betts will get even better as they figure out the rotation between them. Not only that the change up in style will make defenses go nuts.

3. Watching the game of the Cowturds and SD you can't help thinking if SD just played a mistake free football (on D at least) they would have beaten Dallas. Come on 3 consecutive 3rd down penalties for a first? We play mistake free football we are the better team overall IMO>

4. Ramsey must start against Dallas because he is the only one of two QBs that can get the ball to Patten or Moss. Did you guys see Moss run after the catch? Coles would have barely gained 10 yards with that toe last year. The Dallas D must respect the deep ball for us to have success.

5. We moved the ball well against what could be a top 5 D. The only reason we didn't score was because of an atrocious call against us (Cooley was hit first then he pushed way after the five yards), and Cooley fell short in the half yard line instead the endzone. In otherwords the TDs will come, its not that we were down there and got stuck on the 10 yard line.

Defense:

1. I feel great with our CB situation. Harris played great, Springs is Springs and in about 5 games Carlos will come on very well.

2. Lavar had a missed tackle but he also made one for a lose on the running back. Look for him to pick it up more and more each week.

3. Very solid against the run. And we tackle well.

4. Most important the D got two huge turnovers to essentially win the game. That wasn't there last year.

Special teams:

1. We are in trouble with Hall getting hurt. Big trouble :(

2. A. Brown needs to produce now or get him out of here. He cost us a game last year with a fumble and almost another yesterday.

3. Coverage on punts was good. That kid the Bears have is good.

4. I think the STs will get better as the season goes on.

final points.

Not as many penalties as the opposition. Thats HUGE.
Team never gave up played hard all the way to the end.
Our D should be top 5 again. Hell they are probably ranked number one or two after yesterday.

Against Dallas, I really hope Gibbs' calls plays with the intent of putting as many points on the board as possible. I do not want to see any more of this conservative playcalling. Things can (and for us, usually do) go terribly wrong at any point during a game (his name is Antonio Brown, who essentially handed the Bears 7 points yesterday; and last year handed the game to Dallas with a fumble, as well. And the way the officiating goes, we shouldn't take any chances.

I hope we save ourselves a turnover and just do it now. It's not a question of "if it will happen, but rather a question of "when he will fumble".

I say let's get proactive and nip this in the bud. :dallasuck
