You would think that a win would make all the fans excited. Not this fan, not this time. This week 1 win reminds me of last season's week 1 win against the bucs. The defense looked really good and Portis moved the ball. Turnovers made the game close. The passing offense looked bad.

One year later and the passing offense still looks the same. We are a team that has little margin for error to win games. Unfortunately, we are a team that likes to hand the ball to the guys in the other jerseys. Sorry, but that makes another 6-10 season.

We just squeaked by a bottom teir football team that a good team should be able to beat soundly. Next week we play an apparently revamped Cowboy team that just beat a very good Chargers squad. It's a mismatch that I don't see us winning. Our pass protection is average. Our QB play is some of the worst in the league. That combination does not a good offense make.

I would say that I'm off the bandwagon, but I don't think it's ever started moving. We've been sitting in neutral for the last 5 years waiting for it to shift into 1st gear.

We are not a good football team and we aren't getting better with Brunell or Ramsey leading the way. The frustrating thing is that by the time Campbell is ready, many of a current cogs will likely be a little older and a little slower, if not released from the team outright.

I'm not leaving my beloved Redskins, though. I'm still as much of a fan as anybody else. I'll watch them every week and I'll watch them until I die. Unfortunately, I just don't see a future in this year's team.

HTTR, even if we do lose 2 for every win.

I bet they've written off the season in Denver, Baltimore, Carolina, San Diego, Minnesota, New York (Jets) and Green Bay, too. No point in playing the next 15.

I definitely would not call the passing offense bad and the offense as a whole did not look as bad as last years game. While it didnt look awesome, it did roll up 300+ yards against a pretty good D. Pretty sure we had under 300 in the TB game.

Watch the cowboys bite on the WR screen when moss and/patten takes it to the house. Joe is setting his old buddy Bill up! Write it down!

How do you say the pass protection was average? I also was bummed that the O didnt bring it, but not comparing to last season after only one game yet though!!!

This is the saddest and most frustrated I've ever seen a messageboard after a win.

I normally tell friends/family to visit this board after the game to get a recap and thoughts from Skins fans. Not this time. I'm saddened by the lack of heart and faith exuded by some of the fans-- esp after an opening day win.

I can understand concern and disappointment, but I honestly am starting to feel that a lot of people would be happier if we lost 31-28 just because we scored touchdowns.

Well, we've seen these "opening day wins" for four years in a row now. Where has it gotten us? Certainly not in the playoffs, so that should explain the lack of excitement. I'm with Beaudry...I'm not calling the season, but our offense did not look that impressive. Maybe the Bears' defense IS that damn good. I hope that's the case. I guess we'll find out on Monday.

We had 291 net yards last year against Tampa. Tampa was also considered a very good defense at the time we played them.

As a side note and not really related to the topic, but Tony K said this morning that he has not considered bringing out the bandwagon so far this one-game-old season.

Well let's see what the stats say....

Last year versus Tampa compared to this year against the Bears:
Totals:
Passing-125 Rushing-166
Passing-159 Rushing-164
Rushing yards are about the same, passing yards up slightly.

M. Brunell 13/24 125 5.2 0 td 0 int
P. Ramsey 6/11 105yrd 9.5avg 0td 1int
M. Brunell 8/14 70yrd 5.0avg 0td 0int
Brunell had 54% passing in both games and his avg is around 5. Amazing people say this isn't the same Brunell we saw last year....

C. Portis 29car 148yrd 5.1avg 1td
L. Betts 5car 17yrd 3.4avg 0td
C. Portis 21car 121yrd 5.8avg 0td
L. Betts 12car 41yrd 3.4avg 0td
Very similar stats though Portis increased his yards per attempt, which is a very good thing.

I can see where your frustration and doubt comes from. I had to watch the game again last night in order to get any more positives out of the game than I had originally came away with. The good news is, I did. The wr's get alot of seperation and run great routes. We didn't have that in abundance last year. I have to disagree with you when you said that our pass protection is average. Our pass protection may have looked average because of Ramsey's tendency to hold on to the football way too long. But our line actually did a great job. Offensive linemen just can't hold blocks that long. I really think that Ramsey would be fine if he could just get rid of the those costly bad habits. Another thing that I noticed is that Chicago is a better team than people give them credit for. We actually beat a good team. That was actually a good test for us and a good hard fought win. If it weren't for a st's fumble, our defense would have completely shut them out. After watching film this week, coach Gibbs will have the Redskins ready for Dallas. I truly believe that.

Besides the quarterbacking play, the one thing that has alarmed me the most is the amount of penalties and mistakes this football team continues to make. I expected much more of a disciplined brand of football from a Joe Gibbs-led football team.

Until we revert from those tactics, we are not going to be as successful of a football team that we can possibly be.

Agreed. I can't understand it either.

If you can't gather any enjoyment from a win then why bother being fan at all?

Of course I understand people not wanting to get overly excited about a team they think is going no where.

However, the last 24 hours have been absolutely ridiculous.

Its like Skins fans have become masochists.

Brother, Ive just came back from the the Ravens board. Its not the trolls its the fans that are infighting with each other to super personal levels that has me jarred. ( and flamed, and feeling hurt and called a *****)

That is scary, and thanks for the stats. I think if Ramsey would've played the whole game, and not Brunell, then the differences would've been alot better. If anything, your stats have all but proven that Brunell is still the same mediocre, over-the-hill QB that pissed us off for 9 weeks a year ago.

or your stats have proven that PR doesn't change anything.Just over one Qtr of play and he accounted for 60% of the total passing yards changes nothing? The truth is Pat changes EVERYTHING. He brings an explosive passing game, and the stats show that Brunell does NOT. He also turns the ball over more often then Mark does. So what exactly does he not change? The skins are a different team with him behind center both better and worse.

Unless of course you mean PR as in Redskins public relations, in which case you'd be right. We heard all about the revamped offense only to watch our passing game fall flat on it's face.

I have to agree, no point in playing at all. In fact, there's no point in rooting for the Redskins any longer. I put all my Skins gear up on Ebay this morning, and at very fair prices to boot.

Niners are lookin pretty tough too. and their team colors aren't too much different from the Skins, should make the transitition easier.

I hate to agree but the offense still looks sluggish and Portis really only had one god run for big yardage..i thikn betts was a little more effective..maybe few more touches to him.. WE NEED A KILLER QB!!.. or justto kill the Qb one way or the other the ball hasto get down field better and more efficiently...I did think the defense was looking pretty fit for so early in the season...lets keep our fingers crossed against dallas

TO ALL BRUNELL SUPPORTERS.....

Now that Brunell is our QB, do we have a TOP 32 starting QB in the league? I think that Ramsey is barely on the list of the top 32, and Brunell is way off it. I'd take any starter (Dilfer, Boller, Frerotte) over Brunell and at least a couple backups (Schuab, Volek, Rivers).

It amazes me that it seems like everyone has forgotten that Ramsey played a lot better than Brunell last year. We didn't score 20 pts once with him at the helm last year. Never. Do any of the Brunell supporters think we score 20+ against Dallas?

I hate to say it but i dont think either o fthem can score 20 ...hopefully the "D" can hold dallas to under 10
