This was a thread I started last season and this is the conclusion I came to at the end. I think it's still relevant 1 year later.

Conclusion

It’s real easy to get down on Brunell considering the high hopes we’ve had for the offense. Honestly, I thought we’d be in the top 10-12 statistically by years end, but that’s not going to happen.

However, we do have an identity right now. It may not be the identity most of us (myself included) envisioned but it is comprised of the following ingredients:

1) A smash-mouth running game to control the clock and keep the defense fresh

2) A mistake-free QB who limits picks and sacks allowed

3) A hard-nosed defense that forces 3-and-outs and the occasional pick to put the offense in the best position possible

This is how we’ll win. Does it mean that this is how the team will play as long as Gibbs is coaching? I doubt it, but you never know. However, if you want to root for a team that wins games in 2004, it will be with Brunell under center.
