Does anyone remember the first few weeks of the 2004 season? How many Mark Brunell fumbles were returned for touchdowns or near touchdowns last season.

I don't want to relive those memories. Off the top I can remember 4 (Bucs, Giants, Bears, Ravens). This doesn't count the sub 100 yard games, the <%50 completion percentage, lowest QB rating for the Skins in almost a decade, or behind the line of scrimmage passes.

Does anyone else think this might actually be Gibbs' statement to the entire team, and not just to Ramsey, about the importance of protecting the ball??...

If Antonio Brown were released (or deactivated) this week, I would think so...

But I'm wondering if this is more a case of Gibbs saying "ENOUGH!!" to the team when it comes to protecting the ball..."I will pull your a** if you don't get the point"...because the turnovers are the only area in which Ramsey faltered against the Bears. And it's the only area in which Brunell outperformed him (for lack of a better way of putting it). Ramsey's reads and decisions weren't bad...and he threw for more yards in one quarter than Brunell did in three. He converted some pressure third down plays with his arm...and he even threw a TD, although it was negated by a penalty Ramsey had nothing whatsoever to do with...in short, there was enough there to justify keeping him in as starter.

But I imagine Gibbs just watching the first drive end in an INT and saying to himself "F**!!"...then watching the second drive end with a fumble, even though it was recovered by a teammate, and saying "F**!! This is ridiculous.."...by the time the clothesline tackle injured Ramsey and caused him to fumble again, removing a scoring possibility, Gibbs didn't care if the turnover was Ramsey's fault or not...he wanted players in there who he could trust to protect the ball. And he trusts Brunell to do just that.

Of course, Brunell promptly throws up a punt and has it intercepted...which probably caused Gibbs to just sigh and say "F**!" all over again, that is until it gets called back for pass interference...dodging a bullet, Gibbs has had enough and scales back the passing plays, reels in Brunell, which leads to 70 yards of total passing offense from his QB...and goes on to win the game relying on Portis, Betts, and his defense. Brunell causes no other turnovers, and "manages" the game efficiently enough...and if nothing else--and there may not really be anything else--Brunell has protected the ball this season.

Right now, he may be feeling like he's saying to Ramsey "If you didn't get my point about turnovers before, you damn well are getting it now, aren't you"...and if Antonio Brown were benched as well, I'd be feeling like this is a likely scenario...

Well, going on the premis that a player should be accountable for his play, and be benched for turnovers.........................McNabb and Vick won't be playing next week, that's if they don't get pulled prior to the end of the game going on right now ;)

MB threw 1 Int in the first four games last year
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/gamelog?statsId=2485&year=2004

He only fumbled twice all year and only lost one of those.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=445

The stats aren't lying are they.

He turned it over at most 2 times in four games. So I'm not seeing how someone is remembering at least four.

In comparison, PR lost the ball twice in three DRIVES and still managed to fumble on the other drive.

I'll take 2 turnovers in 4 games over 2 turnovers in 3 drives 100 times out of 100 times. BTW, for all the talk surrounding his great passing performance where are the points PR produced?

Okay, but Patrick Ramsey is a rich boy and he's gone too far but you know his money doesn't matter anyway; he can have money but he's gone little too far; and this time not only do he have one foot off of this team, but he has one out of the NFL and the other foot is on a banana peel. I told you back in traing camp, this guy is a bum!!!!! His learning curve has reached its apex and that's the end
