View Full Version : Are Da' Bears really a bad team?

We all know that the Bears are the biggest bunch of sucks that ever did suck. But maybe they aren't that sucky afterall?

That Orton kid isn't a bad QB. For most of the game he was poised, accurate, and didn't make mistakes. I don't care what anybody says, Thomas Jones is still a good running back and Mushin Muhammed is still a good WR.

On defense, Urlacher really is a hella linebacker. He's quick, powerful, and has good instincts. Luckly, Clinton Portis is one slippery SOB. If a more straightforward back were running (like Betts), I think we would have averaged at least 1 yard per carry LESS than what we did. Chicago's DL is a quality group of pass rushers. The cornerbacks aren't particularly good.

If the Bears play the rest of the season the way they played Sunday, they would be a very competitive group.

The question is: Did our bad play make the Bears look better than they are? Or did we just face a gritty team that will give everybody in the league a ballgame? If the Bears really are a good team, then our 9-7 win may be more impressive that it first appears. If the Bears are as bad as I thought they would be this year, then the 9-7 win is just a preview to a sucky season.

I think that is as much optimism as I can muster.

The Bears offense is bad.

Their defense is a middle of the road unit.

Overall they won't win more than 5-6 games.

Prior to the game, the Bears were a great defensive team that could be the sleeper team in the NFC. The rookie QB was the steal of the draft and should have been starting before Grossman got hurt. It will be interesting to see what the experts think now that they lost to the Redskins.

That's what I thought, but I'm not 100% sure about that now. I think that they might be able to run the ball against a less stout defense. Once you can run the ball, the passing game will surely open up (unless you are named Brunell or Ramsey).

That's what I love. People were coming out of the woodwork talking about how they might make a playoff push, Orton was good, the D was tenacious.

Does any of that come into play when we win? Nope, we didn't play a bruising game against a solid team and win...we beat a crappy team at home by 2.

Hilarious.

This double loaded question. Why. Because, it also applies to what you think of our team. If Bears are crap team, what does it mean when we barely squeak by them. If they are "OK" team, it means we are better the average.

Unless you got blinders on, don't see how you can say anything other then Bears are crappy team.

Let me put it this way. I will take their D over SDs D any day of the week and twice on Sunday. That SD D proved why the Jets beat them last year in the playoffs. They couldn't cover the slant pass to say their life and their CBs are very average. Mark my words this year SD will be a little above average team with that schedule.
