Love Tommy Harris saying that Randy Thomas whooped him!

They didn't have a source for this on dabearz.com forums. Sorry.

Mondays and Tuesdays during the NFL work week usually are reserved for healing.
The Bears had no injuries to report in the wake of Sunday's 9-7 loss to Washington, but the defense was nursing its bruised ego Monday.

"We were bothered," defensive tackle Tommie Harris said.

Numerous Bears defensive players had projected great things for their unit this season. Instead, they allowed 323 net yards and 164 rushing yards to the Redskins.

Worse, they allowed Washington to mount a 15-play drive that resulted in the game-winning field goal after the Bears offense had scratched out a go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter.

"Me, personally, I got my butt kicked for the first time, I really have to say," said Harris, who was primarily matched up against Redskins guard Randy Thomas. "I ate a piece of humble pie."

The second-year tackle hadn't been talking a lot to the media in training camp other than to say the defense had the potential to be the league's best. In essence, he said he was speaking Monday to confess his mistakes.

"I mean, everybody needs it," he said of the dash of humility. "I got a taste of it, and hopefully, I can go back and just get better and do the things I can do well."

Defensive players were stepping up to take blame after the game, but even more so after reviewing film Monday.

Safety Mike Brown said he missed a tackle on Clinton Portis that led to a 41-yard run that got the Redskins out of a deep hole. In some cases during the game, players got out of their lanes of responsibility and left gaping holes for runs.

"So it's compound problems," Brown said. "Somebody is not in their gap and then you miss the tackle and it turns into big plays."

Great to hear that playing us "humbles" other players and teams. Personally I hope we don't make the cowpukes humbled, I hope we embarrass them and their amazing defense as everybody claims.

Umm...I really didn't see much of an amazing defense for Dallas....decent yeah....but not amazing....we should be just fine against them
