What's worse than being woken up by a crappy marching band?

So for some completely inexplicable reason, there's a college or high school's band practicing outside my building right now. There's about 35-40 pieces, and I don't think any of them have played their instruments for more than a year. I feel like these are the kids that were told to "play the wood blocks" in music class.

But the strangest thing...WTF ARE YOU DOING PLAYING AT 8:45 AM on a SUNDAY at the World Financial Center??? There are NO colleges, NO high schools, NO football teams, NO parades, NO sporting events, NOTHING IS playing a game around here. Literally, the closest game that could be going on at Columbia which is on the EXACT OPPOSITE side of the island--like 8 miles away. Oh, but wait, colleges don't play on Sunday.

One of their drummers keeps trying to get this little riff right on his snare, but inevitably falls out of time.

I'm in hell folks. This is like having to listen to 450 watts of William Hung's Livin' the Vida Loca in a porclean enclosed porta-poty. Everything reverberating--especially the stench of bad music.

Something tells me that they would have managed to screw that up as well. Admitedly it would be better, but by an order of about 100W on the William Hung analogy.

I feel your pain. Living at University of Virginia my housing was right across from a field where the vaunted "UVA Pep Band" would practice Saturday mornings before the game... I hated that! Our pep band was pretty lame and I think Coach Groh disbanded it or was trying to get a real marching band. We actually brought in High School bands to perform during halftime my senior year... they were much better.

*Disclaimer: Just because I went to UVA don't think of me as a snooty pretentious frat guy... I hate those people. I studied engineering and pretty much hated all fraternity people.

i HATE marching band. my f***ing school forced anyone in the symphonic band to do it. it was the worst activity i have EVER done in my entire life. we worked longer and harder than the football players did, and the only people who liked it were the ones who sucked. i hated those fags.

Yep. I had the exact same problem but I was at Michigan, and the band was really really big and loud.
