Did anyone see this game? I just finished watching it (I'm a crazy football junkie). Packers got royally screwed by the refs. It was Ron Winter's crew. During one of the Tampa Bay drives, there was a weak roughing the passer call. The DE jumped to block the pass and hit Griese, but let up. What's worse, is during the 2nd half there was a play where Griese tried to throw it and the ball slipped out of his hands. It was recovered by Green Bay. Winters ruled it an incomplete pass. On the review it was clearly a fumble, but they couldn't give the ball to Green Bay. Green Bay would have had the ball at the TB 10. On the first Tampa Bay touchdown TB was at the GB 6 and Griese scrambled outside, just as he got to the line of scrimmage he threw, and ended up at the 5 yard line after the throw. I was pretty sure he threw the pass over the line of scrimmage, but I don't think there's a way to challenege it.
Other observations from the game:
1) Tampa Bay is very similar to us on offense. Carnell Williams is a grind it out back. I wouldn't rate Griese too much higher than Brunell or Ramsey. They throw a lot of short passes that the receivers advance. One difference is they have some taller personnel. It seems like the Redskins pass the ball to the outside, TB passes to the inside.
2) Tampa Bay is also similar to us on defense. They were doing a decent job stopping Ahman Green but couldn't generate much of a pass rush on Brett Farve, unless they blitzed.
3) Brett Farve can't throw the medium routes into traffic consistently anymore (we all know this but he doesn't). It seems like the only balls he threw well were the deep outside ones. They were beautiful, but he had a lot of ugly throws that hit off the hands of TB defenders.
4) Linebackers can't cover slot receivers... on one touchdown for Galloway he was matched up against the MLB of the Packers. Green Bay returned the favor later.
