ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- The jubilation over last week's thrilling win over the Dallas Cowboys had barely faded before Redskins coach Joe Gibbs started picking out the things that went wrong.

Five sacks? That's way too many.

``We're concerned there,'' Gibbs said. ``We gave up five sacks. Two of them were a little situation where we didn't get the alignment the way we wanted it, so it was our fault. But at the same time, we scrambled out of there to save us a couple, too.''

The Redskins have opened 2-0, but the team has given up eight sacks in those victories, including five against the Cowboys. A total of 14 NFL teams have allowed five sacks or fewer in their first three games combined.

``We've got to continue to work on our communication,'' tackle Jon Jansen said. ``I think that's the success of any group or unit, whether it's in football or in business or anything, it's communication, knowing what's going on and just making sure everybody's on the same page and everybody's going to the right guys and doing the right thing.''

Jansen, who missed all of last season with a ruptured Achilles' tendon, is playing with two broken thumbs. Jansen and center Casey Rabach, a free agent signed from the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason, form the starting offensive line, along with three starters from last season: tackle Chris Samuels and guards Derrick Dockery and Randy Thomas.

``Here and there, there was a communication problem, we kind of slipped up on it,'' Thomas said. ``It's just playing the game together and knowing the guy has got your back as far as different sets. A couple of bad sets or just the reaction was kind of slow or something like that. Five sacks is too many. We've got to improve on that.''

The Redskins host a Seattle (2-1) team Sunday that has nine sacks. Left defensive end Bryce Fisher, who had a career-high 8 1/2 sacks last year while with St. Louis, has a sack in each of the first three games, good for third in the NFC.

``It's been a big emphasis for us this week,'' Gibbs said. ``We need to step it up on pass protection because it's a big deal for us.''

The Redskins gave up 38 sacks in Gibbs' return to Washington in 2004. In Gibbs' first tenure with the Redskins, his teams gave up 28 or fewer sacks each season between 1986 and 1992, including a team-record low of nine sacks allowed during the 1991 Super Bowl title season.

``A lot of it is technique stuff,'' Rabach said. ``Until we improve, anybody and everybody is going to come after us.''
