Ovechkin has two goals in the first two periods of his NHL carreer!

This is a big deal. With all the attention and hype on Crosby, Ovechkin could develop into a star player without all that pressure...
He's certainly lived up to his billing so far.
He also had a hat trick in the preseason...

I went to the game tonight and Ovechkin dominated play while he was on the ice. The guy was everywhere. His first goal stemmed the tide of momentum that was shifting to Columbus after the Jackets took a 1-0 lead and brought the Caps back to even. His second goal won the game. In between Ovechkin made one really nice pass to Steve Eminger that should have been a goal and barely missed scoring a third by himself with about 8 or 9 minutes left.
He could easily have had a 5 point night in his debut. Scary.
I know it's only one game but how can a 19 year old come in and skate circles around NHL veterans?
Meanwhile Crosby and the Pens seemed to be having a difficult time of it with the Devils who were up 3-0 on the last ticker at MCI Center.

Good to hear. I saw parts of the game, and loved the first hit Ovechkin dished out
Crosby had an assit in a 5-1 loss.
Amazing how much hype he is still getting on the networks while there hasn't been much of a mention of AO

I was unable to watch the game last night. I have DirecTV and called them and was informed it was blacked out. Did anybody else have this problem?

YES. :tantrum: But, for some reason, I was able to watch the Thrashers-Panthers game on Fox Sports Florida or some crap like that.
Did they give you a reason for it being blacked out?

No. She couldn't give me an answer. She said it usually happens if the game is being offered by another network that has rights, but that was not the case last night. I sent a email to Comcast Sportsnet and to Ted Leonsis this morning trying to find out why. I was hoping someone else knew.

He turned 20 a few weeks ago. But he will make watching Caps games worth it this year. Plus, the speed and hustle out of this team was exceptional, something we haven't seen from the home team in a long time.
