Were Patten, Thrash, and Jacobs really well covered last night? Was it an issue of time or is Brunell fixated on Moss and Cooley? Just wondering if there is any insight as to why the other receivers rarely got a look.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't think that anyone that went to the game is up yet.

i'm up, haha, should have taken off today though. In response to your question, I think Moss is just so quick to get open that he draws the first look and gets the ball quick. Cooley's turned into such a good safety valve that he gets the throws after a really fast read of the other options. We also don't run that many multiple-reciever sets so often the only men out in routes were Moss and Cooley. Thrash didn't do much to separate from coverage last night, he may have just been a decoy-in-motion most of the time though. Patten was open a few times but not before Moss broke loose enough for a throw.:2cents:

I taped the game and will watch but my gut feeling is Brunell went with the best receivers available. I think Thrash was open big once. I was expecting Patten in the flat for the first touchdown. I just wish they would throw away the little side pass to Moss, that hasn't worked in two weeks.

Hard to tell from tv angles who's really open versus where a play winds up. It seemed that our other receivers completely disappeared in yesterday's game. Patten was thrown to once or twice and the others not at all. Corsair says its that Moss flashes open more quickly. I didn't know if it was something like that or pressure leading to limited reads or Brunnell mostly looking at shorter patterns, or really good coverage on everyone else.

We can't count Patten out of that game. Lets remember, he was the one that drew the 30+ yard PI to put us at the 1yard line.

Patten was open several times. Brunell looks to Moss, Cooley, then Patten.

Yeah, Patten wasn't any more covered than Moss. Brunell just doesn't look his way too often....

I was at the game and I think Brunell was locked on to Moss and Cooley. Patten in particular was open on some plays and I felt like Brunell should have went to him. I guess he will once defences start doubling Moss.

Brunell had a rhythym going with Cooley, Cooley was open on every play.

I was in the endzone seats in the upper deck and from what i saw the eagles were doing pretty well in their pass coverage on everyone... Brunell made some really tight throws between coverages.... hes definitly got his arm back... I agree that moss being so fast he is the first to get open plus the eagles were balancing coverage and not favoring moss... so we went with the open recievers...

Brian Mitchell said in the post-game comments that Patten isn't getting the same type of separation that Moss & Cooley do, which is why the balls aren't coming his way.
