View Full Version : Minnesota Winning!

The New York Giants are losing at home to the Vikings.
My stupid conservative call sensor just went off big time. The Vikings were up 14-6, and the Giants scored a touchdown. Then I saw them set up to kick the extra point, and I went "WHY! WHY! WHY! WHY AREN'T YOU GOING FOR TWO?" They could tie the game up, and they're really no worse off down by two points than one. So, why wouldn't a team go for two? Hopefully, this lack of good sense by the giants will be frowned upon (as Gregg Easterbrook would say) by the football gods, and they will be punished with a loss

It was way too early to go for two.

You shouldn't go for two until the second half of the 4th quarter. There are too many different situations that can mess you up if you miss a conversion. The giants did the right thing.

Right. Lots of possessions left in the game, so take the extra point and make it a 1 point game and say you stop the Vikings and score another TD, then you go for 2.
By kicking the extra point, if Minnesota gets another TD it would at least keep it a one possesion game by leading by 8 points.
Good decision, IMO.

I'm always amazed that if you need "indisputable evidence" to overturn a call the announcers can sit and dispute the replays for about 5 minutes on calls that are overturned.

No way! The one point does nothing for you.
