Being a pretty heavy movie buff I have been very disapointed with many of the movies that have come out recently. Off the top of my head I can name very few which have impressed me. I enjoyed Batman Begins, Wedding Crashers, and a select few others. Is there any movies you guys know of that are coming out in the next year or two that look exciting? I know that MUNICH with Eric Bana looks pretty good. Also Disney's Glory Road could be on their feel good sports movie, similar to Remember The Titans.

I'm probably most excited about King Kong. I think Peter Jackson is going to do great things with it. I'm kinda looking forward to Narnia, but it may be a little too kidsy for my taste. Your post was the first I've seen anything about Munich, but I watched the trailer and was really impressed. Looks like I'll have to add that one to my list.

Munich and King Kong are locks. I'll probably see Narnia. Syriana looks pretty good too, I'll have to see the reviews/word-of-mouth for that one.
Anyone going to check out Hostel? That looks like one f'ed up movie.

I know this thread is old, but instead of starting another thread, thought I would chime in. I just got back from watching Evan Almighty. I am a pastor, and was a little skepticle going to see this film for two reasons: 1. I'm not a big fan of Steve Carell. 2. Bruce Almight, even though it had some spiritual spots in it, was very crude in its humor. That being said, Evan Almighty was top shelf. Steve Carell did an awesome job. Maybe the most religious movie of the year. I'm giving it my two thumbs up.

Evan Almighty was a good movie. I am not really a religious person, nor do I have kids. But I know the stories and the humor was certainly family oriented (as opposed to for kids or for adults).
Funny part about this thread is the movies people were looking forward to.

I saw Die Hard 4 the other day... and it was awesome. I'll probably get bashed on saying this, but i liked it more than the first. Usually people freak out when someone believes that a sequel is better than the original.Mainly because i'm young so i like newer movie and the action in this movie is outstanding.

From what I here, the rights to The Hobbit to be made into a movie belong to New Line at the moment, however, Tolkien's estate only wants Jackson to do it and New Line's claim to the rights expires soon at which point I assume Jackson and the Tolkien estate will probably shop around for a studio

Good.
I don't know if I would even go watch it if someone other than Jackson were to do it.

I saw a preview, at the Harry Potter film, for a movie that looked pretty good. I think it was called "10,000 b.c." or something like that.
I am definitely looking forward to that. I am also interested in "The Golden Compass." I have a feeling that it is not going to be that good, but I am still interested. In the previews, they are comparing it to LOTR. I highly doubt that it is going to be that good though.

They used to have all of them. I think Yahoo is starting to get in the business now. Between those 2 sites you can see about everything you want. Some movies trailers are exclusively shown on one or the other

video games arent just video games anymore. people are treating it as a more serious entertainment medium than ever before, like halo. in fact Halo 2 on its launch earned 125 million dollars in its first day (highest grossing release in entertainment history), so you can see why people would want to see a halo movie, and movies for other games as well.

Halo is a movie that they are making into a video game. It has been canceled last year after Fox and Universal pulled out. But as of last month Fox just jumped back in. Excutive Director is Peter Jackson.

Coming from a Halo fan, I got hooked on the 1st Halo game for the story line (it had no online multiplayer play). The 2nd video game story sucked (but good multiplayer), hoping they make up for it in Halo 3.
There are also Halo novels out there that the real hardcore like to read (similar to star wars I guess), I guess I should learn to read 1st.

I saw a preview for a movie that looked like Final Fantasy, it had airships and all sorts of strange creatures and the town looked exactly like it was right out of FFX or FF12. I thought it was Final Fantasy but it turns out it is about a gold watch or something like that. Nicole Kidman is in it. I like fantasy things (some not all) so this looked like something I would want to see.

Making comics into Movies makes more sense to me than games into movies.
I had Halo and gave it to a friend after a few attempts at playing. It was just too confusing without having any idea what I was supposed to do.
