I have no problem with Democrats continuing the probe into the intel that was used to justify the war. As an American, I want the truth regardless of the outcome. But I hate this. This is nothing more than political activism. They could care less if we're ultimately successful in Iraq, because they see failure in Iraq as a building point to regain power. I hate politics. It blinds people to doing the right thing.

aren't there two things going on in the Senate right now??
The one defeated today was the Dems one, but Frist's is still out there.
Me thinks that they rejected this one, so they can pass the next and a few different folks can take a victory lap.

Because it's impossible that the deomcrats feel this is legitimately the right thing to do? Many democrats feel that they made a mistake allowing this war to happen and they think the best thing to do is to leave. Disagree all you want, but your partisan hackery is showing. How about disagreeing with them on principle? OR arguing against thier position? There are plenty of great reasons why we shouldn't cut tail and run. I happen to think a timetable would be an aweful idea. But anytime you say "hey look the other party is being partisan" YOU are exactly the problem. We need less partisan hackery not more.

good point Steve- but the claims of "misleading intelligence" have already BEEN investigated. Not just once, but twice by both a Senate and House committee report.
You can google it and read to your hearts content. There was no pressure put on the intel agencies to change their decisions, and the Democrats saw the exact same things the Republicans did. that is why 100 of them voted FOR the war. they just want to play politics to look good now three years later

Again, you continue to profess lies, and ignore earlier posts where this point was ALREADY proven false.

Yep, it's campaigning time again.
Anyone who thinks that any of this continued talk is anything but pandering to their voters is out in right field.
This horse is so dead yet takes a whooping daily.
When you look at almost all other post war troop deployments (minus Vietnam) you still find troops there today. Why would Iraq be any different?
The Iraqi's now have 90 Batallions of ready troops and are growing stronger as time progresses. Our presence will slowly dwindle, but I can't foresee us having no troops there in our lifetimes if history is any indication.

Chom, You have never proven anything that he has here stated false. Just because you constantly disagree with factsdoes not mean that they are false and wrong. You keep using the same biased opinionatedarticles to try and prove your position and say others are wrong. You conviently over-look facts in documents that are shown to you and then turn around and say that you have proved that wrong. But you haven't. Get over yourself.

Don't tell Chom that. He'll find a left-wing fascist article from one of the papers or mags he sleeps with to tell you that we attacked Japan and we are the evil aggressors and should not be there. And, we really aren't helping or even in those other countries, Europe or Asia. It is all more lies and deceit provided by the Bush admin.
And everyone should know by now, Chom is never wrong. What he says and beliefs is always right and infallible.

What the heck are you talking about??? Please give me an example in the thread where I used "opinionated" articles as proof that he is incorrect. I gave proof from the reports themselves, they stated that his talking points are false, yet you still disagree. . . if you say that I'm overlooking facts, then PROVE IT!!!! I have challanged him, and he disappears, lets see if you pull a Casper, of if you can actually back up your agrument.
BTW, read the post I linked, it will save me some time in the long run, especially if you are going to go down his line of talking points.

Taylor 36, you attack people and expect to be taken seriously?
Are you aware the historyof the post and times? Do you automatically expect others to take your word over theirs? because you are an approved right wing source or they don't automatically take the Repuibican talking points as gospil?
Chom said this would be on the NY times front page today (yesterday). Some on the board laughed it off and said that it must be some lefty source because the republicans would never do what the Times was going to report. Well, how about that? Read the news much this afternoon? Not only was the left news right about the Times article, but how about that the senate took action today too as the NYtimes said the would. That came to two votes quickly in a Republican control senate where they get to chose when things get voted on. Odd. I'm sure the 72-18 vote was another lefty news consiracy too. Think maybe you should get off the high horse for a bit?

Dude, attacks like this are not good form. Chom may get heated sometime and you may disagree with him, but he does meticulous research and backs up everything he says. Moreover, he attacks the policies of this Administration, he does not personally attack other posters. You could learn a lesson from that.

My rant had less to do with facts and more to do with my overall belief that politics suck. In this case the Democrats are politicizing. Reverse the field and it would be the Republicans. Neither side is exempt from this crap and I'm just sick to death of it. A timetable is such an obviously bad idea it defies reason and shows clearly what their intent is, IMO.
I find their behavior apalling. I could care less if they continue their witch hunt on the intel issue. But, we are in Iraq now and we need to behave responsibly and do what's right. At this point, how we got there is irrelevant. A timetable to exit because they don't feel they made the right decision, even though the whole frickin world thought he had WMD's, is ludicrous. We have a bunch of hate filled politicians with no morals making decisions that are leading this country into the ground.

This is how you can tell if a politician means it:
They are not in trouble with any special council.
They are not running for anything in the next 2 years.
It is not for their state.
They do not show up on the Sunday Circuit of talkshows.
There... easy...

Its hard to tell, you don't know their name if they do it right..

Actually, no sarcasm if you think about it. Teddy is not known for any of the 4 thinks Thiebear listed.
"They are not in trouble with any special council." Nope.
"They are not running for anything in the next 2 years." Nope.
"It is not for their state." Not generally.
"They do not show up on the Sunday Circuit of talkshows." I never see him there.
Teddy is an ultra liberal, but in general he stays in the Senate and does his job.
