Yes I am a huge Virginia Tech fan so maybe I am a little biased, but this guy would be outstanding in our defensive system. He is a pass rusher that is also very good at run-stuffing, but predominantly known for pass rushing (he runs a 4.7 40 but has a 400something bench press). He is a very blue collar hard working guy and a perfect Gibbs player. My problem is this - he's puting up good enough stats that will prob merit him a first round pick. I think we should trade up for him. 2nd and 3rd would be worth it in my point of view if we get to a low 1st situation where we dont have to give up next years first. But he would make our defense that much better if he was added to the line. Moreso than Udeze or Smith or any of the other guys everyone wanted us to draft.

Yeah i have been saying that all year actually.... I think he would really help our pass rush...... and he works really hard and has a great attitude from what i hear...... i also think he could possibly be available by the time we pick......the coaches should take a long look at him in my opinion

i love VT, and i have been watching Tapp, and he is a monster on the field. He will be a first round pick, so we most likely wont get him, but if we trade up, and get him, he would have an amazing impact on our struggling d-line. He would fit well in the defensive system of gregg williams

If he is available and we pass on him I will be very dissapointed in our coaching staff, unless they take Manny Lawson, because he's a bit bigger but we need a PASS RUSHER, and that is what Tapp brings to the table best.
Did i mention he's good at special teams too? He blocked a FG tonight.

Tapp is a guy who on some boards is rated around the 50th to 65th player overall. I think that since DE is such a premium in the NFL that he will go high 2nd round. So, to get him we would have to move up in the 2nd.

Given the amount of picks that we have given up, I hate to say it but in this instance I think that it would be worth it.

Can we actually afford to keep giving up draft picks? Maybe...we've been doing it forever and getting away with it..lol. But our drafts haven't really been too impressive.

Besides 04. We got 2 pro bowl calibur players in that draft.

Yeah the lack of picks seems to always be an issue with us but if we turn it like 04 (as you said skinsneverdie) and get us two key players we should be fine. Darryl Tapp and a tall reciever anyone?

Hey man Daryll Tapp and Sinorice Moss hehe..i need to stop dreaming about the sinorice moss thing, santana wouldnt want him on the redskins just becuase he didnt wanna mess with his progression in the pros.

I like Tapp more every time I see him play, and that dude Mario Edwards or something like that from NC State is a freak but he is a definate high first rnd pick...

Mario Williams reminds me of Courtney Brown...and we all know how that turned out...

Yup he sure did...2 sacks, 1 pass dfl, and a blocked fg? Sounds like Gaither TOTALLY owned Tapp.

And the NC State DE that we would most likely get would be Manny Lawson. Mario Williams is a top ten pick b/c he is alot like Julius Peppers. Lawson is more Strahan-esque and will be there when we pick in the 2nd. I just hope we get Tapp instead.

In all fairness to each player Gaither plays the LT and Tapp lined up against the RT most of the game, so it's hard to say someone owned someone when they had limited plays against each other.

Tapp is too small to play DE i think. He's a good player but his size makes him a risk. 6'1 255 can't play DE in the pros? Move hime to middle linebacker maybe.

He's also got the lunch pail. He's a hard worker.

I'd be ecstatic to draft him.

We won't get him because we never get the D linemen that I happen to want, but if we do I will be happy.

No way that is too small in the pros. Shawne merriman isn't much bigger and tapp will atleast get up to 265 before the draft. No way he is to small to play d-end in the pros. Not too many people can play d-end at a big size. Renaldo is a big d-end and i dont think he has a sack all season long.

hokiesports has Tapp listed as 6'1 265. He could very well put on weight if need be but I am not sure that would have to happen.
Look at other good DEs:

Robert Mathis 6'2 235
Derrick Burgess 6'2 235
Simeon Rice 6'5 268
Dwight Freeny 6'1 268

Hard to judge a guy's NFL prospects when he is lining up against O-linemen from Duke, Ohio, Marshall, Maryland, UVA, and UNC, and does absolutely nothing against the one really good team on their schedule, Miami. I will keep an eye on him during the Orange Bowl.

Derrick Burgess is 265. I checked.

I think he would fit in nice with LaVar and Marcus, would like to see #55 with the Skins! If it is so I might have to get a Tapp Redskins Jersey.

So do Mario Williams and any other DE that plays in the ACC... are their NFL prospectus unclear also? Hell... might as well extend that to any DE in the nation because college OLs aren't that good in general.

The Skins, I'm sorry to say, don't seem to consider Hokies unlike the Falcons who have staked their claim. I wanted us to sign Shayne Graham before Hall. He wasn't even in the league at the time. Now he's one of the best kickers in the NFL. Hall? He strains a quad on PATs. We need Tapp on this team.
