  I just heard about it from a friend....I live in Louisiana...but he was the best in the business.

What doofus could have fired Frank Herzog?

The same doofus that put obstructed view seats and orders strip searches prior to you entering FedEx Field.

Frank's been gone for a couple of years now, sadly....I miss him as well

He was the voice of the redskins. Instead they have Larry Michaels. He is alright, but he is no Frank. I agree with the second posting. I feel like they search you better than they do at the airport.

As far as searching you going into the stadium, think of it this way....

All it takes is ONE scum bag to get through with some sort of device to cause harm to lots of people, and if they dont search everyone something is bound to happen sooner or later IMO.

I cant believe people ***** about being searched , if you want to get hurt or injured then move to iraq

Also if your complaining about being searched and long lines waiting to get searched, try getting there about 45mins to 1 hour before kickoff instead of 15 mins before. I have never got caught in any lines getting there at those times.

He was, and he is sorely missed. His replacment, unfortunately, is extremely irritating. I can't even listen to him...

If I'm not mistaken, the primary reason they let Frank go was because he "made too many mistakes" on the play-by-play, which obviously was his primary job. I never noticed that and Larry is no saint either - Sonny has to correct him sometimes.

Frank had a great voice and delivery, and was a very fluid play-by-play guy, but yes, he did make a lot of mistakes. Larry, however, also makes a lot of mistakes, so now I miss Frank more than I ever would have imagined.

BTW, Frank now works for WTOP radio as a news anchor, which is not a bad job, so at least he landed on his feet. :)

Doesn't sound right coming from anyone else.

So Snyder owns the radio station now too?

How 'bout the price of gas - Snyders fault?

Like DButz said, you're comlaining about YOUR security?

Frank gelled in better with Sonny and Sam, Larry makes too many mistakes. I still always turn them on and watch the road games with TV volume turned down, anyone is better than Kenny Albert and Moose Johnston. :dallasuck

WTF are you talking about?
They are searching for food. That is all.
The search is above the waist only, and these people are not trained all that well.
For anyone who thinks they are actually safer d/t the searches, I have some beachfront property in Kansas to sell you.

I've been to a game before and didn't think the security was excessive. Remember the movie "Sum of all Fears" by Tom Clancy? Yeah you get the point.

I do get a little miffed at the price of food and drink though. Also the fact that you have to buy tickets, I heard, to watch training camp. That sucks.

I've got to admit also, that I would be a little PO'd if I had an obstructed view.:(

I thought they were looking for an explosive belt or something. Anyways, Frank was a great announcer and I use to mess around with his daughter.

Isn't the new announcer some Snyder guy that was handpicked to replace Frank?

I really hate Larry as a play by play announcer. Frank was a "homer" but he was a "homer" with some perspective. Larry overhypes everything to the point that he makes a three-yard gain by Moss sound like a thirty-yard gain.

I was stuck in the car this week coming home for Thanksgiving, and there was one play in the fourth on a third and long. I seriously thought Moss had caught a pass and gone about 40 yards until Larry said "And that will bring up 4th and 7."

And I can't even listen to his Monday Night Show as it sounds like something out of Pravda.

I have not listened to the radio broadcasts since they gave Frank the AX, last time I saw him was in Carlisle the last time Skins were in Carlisle for training camp. TOUCHDOWN REDSKINS!!!!!!!

Larry Micheals was hired by WJFK to replace Herzog. - He was later also hired by the Redskins to do their Redskins TV reporting.

The team cannot dictate to a radio station who to hire.

Yeah but there was a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on...basically Michael had Herzog pushed out.

Searching for food? lmao ok, thanks for the chuckle, your so uniformed.

Sure if they find food they take it from you because food or drink from outside
the stadium is not allowed in. But if all they were searching for was food, why have they only been doing it since after 9/11?

Why dont you call the redskins and ask them what the main reason is for searching everyone... i think that if you do call them you will find that you are completly wrong. Acually i just left a message for the director of security at fed ex field and left him my email address, if he gets back to me, i'll copy and paste his reply, just for you TOTO.

I don't know if the team pushed for Larry, but you are being naive if you think the team does not have an influence. I'm sure WMAL or 104.7 or 107.3 would be interested in broadcasting Redskins games when the contract comes up again. The team's home station is always going to have its credibility in question because both of the business relationship.

WTEM had to agree to put Bram Weinstein on the Joe Gibbs Show to keep the team happy.

Lay off the crack pipe. :dunce:

It's called seizing the opportunity.
The opportunity presented itself after 9/11. I have no doubt there is a need for extra security. But the pat downs are not doing what they are designed to do.

Ostensibly, it's for protection. To increase security at the event.

In reality, it only is designed to find items concealed above the waist. Any large explosives would be discovered. Anything taped to someones thigh under ace bandages would not.

Any poisons or powders would not.
Hence, you get someone dumping ashes on the field in philly. Still feel comfortable knowing someone could bring an unknown powder into the stadium?

It amazes me the level of ignorance that people have about their perceived level of security.

Again. If you feel safer and it makes you sleep better, great.

But the fact remains that the pat downs are doing less than a professional visual scan of people entering the building in an organized manner.
If you think differently, you don't know squat about security.

Ohhh now you admit its for more than food? LOL!!!

I never said what they do is the absolute best and effective way to search
for stuff though. Your the one that said "They are searching for food. That is all."

Personally, i think that if someone wanted to cause harm to mass amounts of people, they would just wait until the log jam happens 15 mins before game time at each gate and just detonate something in those lines, where they dont even have to go through the pat downs yet.
I understand security quite well, and can see holes in most of it.. its what i do for a living

Cripes, it's message board sarcasm. Don't make it seem like I'm backtracking. Fact remains that my level of security is not that much affected by the pat downs.

If you do, then you know what I'm saying is true.

Does anyone have an audio file of Frank saying "TOUCHDOWN, WASHINGTON REDSKINS!" ? I'd like to make it the ringtone of my cell phone, but I'm having a hard time finding it.

I did a google search and found where someone had posted it on extremeskins.com under the "downloads" section, but I'm no longer able to find the download section. Any help is appreciated.
