I hope this is the right place for this.

I think it's pretty ridiculous that Mexico gets a #1 seed in essence over the USA which beat Mexico in pool play and the last World Cup.

Now in group play Mexico is paired with nobody and we have Italy and the most upstart European squad this World Cup the Czech Republic.

Even though the USA is in the top 10 in the world it will now take an upset to make the round of 16.

Nobody Gave The U.s. A Chance Last Time With Portugal In Their Group, Same Thing This Time, It Wont Be An Upset This Time The U.s. Has A Quality Side. When Is The Rest Of The World Going To Wake Up And Realize This.

You may be ranked in the top 10 but that is an anomally of the way the ratings are made up you get pionts for beating the likes of Canada and costa rica while the european teams have much harder schedules. You seem to be able to produce great keepers though.

Whatever happened to landon Donovan he impressed me at the last world cup but I aint seen much of him since then ?

Landon's one of our key players. You argument against us getting a seed is moot since Mexico got one and played the same teams while we have beaten them consistently the last few years.

I dont rate Mexico either but the way the draw is made with european teams beign kept apart the draw has nothing to do with form and everything to do with political correctness.

Where is Landon playing his club football ? Im surprised a big european team has not came in for him.

Howard lost his place to van der sar at Man Utd are you still starting him as your keeper ?

With the US as a top 10 team, you would think that we would start to pay attention to the World Cup, but for the most part you don't hear anything about it.

It's going to take a championship run by the US Team for anyone to take notice that there is even any soccer being played this time of year. It's hard for just about any sport (especially one as traditionally ignored by the american populous as soccer) to get notoriety at this time of year, as the NFL playoffs are about to start.

I would consider myself more interested in the World Cup than about 95% of americans, but I still couldn't name more than 3 or 4 guys on our team...

off the top of my head I can think of donovan mcbride reyna ching howard wolff califf and beasley that all play for you.

Its hardly surprising what you say though as Americans seem to regard mexico and canada as enough oppents to make it a world series !

Its hard over here to follow the redskins thankfully sites like this make it alot easier.

Landon is playing ball for the LA Galaxy. He once was with Leverkausen I believe(or some big German club), but decided to go back to the States because his girlfriend didn't like Germany and wanted to go back home.

As for our keeper, Kasey Keller has that role. Tim Howard is the reserve keeper. Howard once was the starter for Man U?

I remember Kellar when he played for leicster thought he had retired by now.
Howard started last season for Man Utd but has lost out after some poor perormances and has now been replaced by Van-der-sar (netherlands).
What sort of crowd numbers does domestic soccer attract in the US ?

That a nice spin on Landon... but the truth is... Landon went to Europe trying to make it with the big boys in Germany but he fell flat on this face... Landon did play great last World Cup but his play in Europe was just awful. Not sure if it was that his style of play did not fit with the team or if its cause Landon just doesn't have enough talent to play day-in and day-out in the European League.

Gf or not, Landon's choice was to either to sit on the bench in Germany or start every game in MLS.... not really a hard choice to make. Who knows maybe he will improve his game next few years and get an another shot at Europe.

If thats true and he could not make it in Germany he would have no chance in one of the better leagues (england, Spain or Italy) few good yanks in the premiership though (England).
Carlos Bocanegra - Fulham (decent defender mid table club)
Brad Friedel - Blackburn Rovers (let in 24 goals in 19 games)
Tim Howard - Manchester United FC (keeping the bench warm)
Kasey Keller - ex Tottenham Hotspur (went out on loan to southampton think he is out in germany now)
Brian McBride - Fulham (quality quality player could make a few european national squads)
Claudio Reyna - Manchester City (enjoyed sucsess in scotland at Glasgow rangers were the fans worshipped him)
Frank Simek - Arsenal
(on loan to Queens Park Rangers, English League Championship)
Jonathon Spector - Manchester United FC -> Charlton Athletic (very medicore player)

What did you read to confirm this? The only time I've heard this is from the Europeans who hate US Soccer.

With crowds like that you would be the third biggest club in scotland.

Italy 10/11 Czech Rep 13/8 U S A 13/2 Ghana 11/1 is the current betting for you to win your group (you wont Italy will) if your super confident about Americas chances you can back them at 100/1 to win the tournament Mexico are 40/1.

I think its great that there are so many diverse teams playing from Australia to Trinidad.

I cant see past the big european teams like Italy or Germany alough my money is on England.

Your having a laugh Germany while tradionally good are so off form just now its a shame because they were aonce great team butreally struggling just now.
Im not going to dis Brazil but there does some to be a well established Pattern that european teams win when its held over here and south American teams (Brazil Uraguy and Argentina) win if its held outside of Europe.
Englands recent beating of Argentina showed real class and while belive me I dont want to them to win (Id cheer on the Giants if they played England :gaintsuck ) I think England have quality all over their squad.

Mcbride for The US like I said earlier is a real quality player and could make most international squads.

England have a lot of class players no doubt. They also have this superb ability to self destruct at major tournaments. Lets hope this is another one!!!

Brazil are in a different class but the Europe thing might work against them. Sweden may be a dark horse as they play great team soccer, always hard to beat.

Given the group if the US get through the group stages I think it will be an acheivement

On a serious note, the US's odds got a little bit longer about a week ago w/ Reyna undergoing ankle surgery. (Expected to keep him out 6 weeks...)
