(KFFL) Dave Campbell, of the Associated Press, reports Minnesota Vikings CB Fred Smoot (collarbone) might lose his starting job to CB Brian Williams. Williams has filled in well while Smoot recovered from a broken collarbone. Head coach Mike Tice hasn't made a decision yet as to whether Smoot will take his job back from Williams. Tice said, "I don't see what decision there is that needs to be made. There's the old adage, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' But we'll see."

He should've stayed here. He was a product of this GW defense. He is not a great tackler. Idjit.

Man, I loved having Smoot here. I wish the old days of football would return where players stayed with teams for a long time.

Can you imagine Springs/Rogers/Smoot. We could go man against anyone.

Smoot going man is exactly what got him in trouble in the first place...

Maybe when Springs is done, we will get Smoot back.

Am I the only one that finds a report about Smoot potentially losing his job to Brian Williams being followed by a series of replies clamoring for a Smoot return relatively absurd?

He wasn't that good as a Redskins. He's even worse as a Viking. I don't understand the infatuation.

Todd Pinkston has his best days against Smoot.

Smoot going man is exactly what got him in trouble in the first place... :doh:He went man here and never had any trouble did he? In fact he was good enough at it to start over our early starter Walt Harris. What people don't seem to get is that sota's D is loaded with talent and still pretty much sucks. That means the coaches either stink or the players aren't buying in.

Also note that I list him third, there is no 3rd wide out smoot can't cover man to man. Chad Johnson? No. Some no name punk? Yes.

I still dont know how we let go of Smoot. Think of 5 times Smoot got into trouble one on one. You cant, I cant ever think of anybody giving Smoot fits.

I think this puts to rest that we should have topped Minnesota's offer.

I do however think he was a pretty good CB...and still is (just not vs. Steve Smith)!

To put it in terms that shouldn't be "absurd" to you, think of Jeremiah Trotter. Sucked as a Redskin, flourished as an Eagle due to a system that took advantage of his strengths and hid his weaknesses.

He just got an interception the past weekend, didn't he?

yes, but I don't think Smoot particularly flourished as a Redskin either.

The only time I can remember thinking of Todd Pinkston as anything other than a miserable excuse for a starting wide reciever are the times he just finished playing against Smoot.

He's an average starting corner, nothing more.

I guess he's a fan favorite though.

I remember Antonio Bryant owning him.
