I dont think Taylor compares to anyone. He is his own animal. No one has ever had the combination of size and range of Taylor. Definetly not at FS. I would take his skill set over anyones. Of coarse he has things he can improve but he is only 22. Most players rookie year start when they are 23 or 24. Taylor is definetly a throwback player. That is the only thing I would say is the same with Lott. Lott sure couldnt move around like Taylor and cover the same ground. And this is in a age with wideouts running 4.2's like its nothing. You really get the vibe that Taylor hates anyone not associated with the Redskins. The media pisses him off, as well as opponents. You definetly wont see him at a divisionr rivals birthday party.

Lott was much better in coverage than 'Toast' Williams.

No he just threw elbows to the face. Great player, but if you think he wasn't dirty, you're kidding yourself.

They played the Skins vs. 49ers in the 84 NFC championship on espn2 last night. On one play in particular Lott throws what looks a lot like the atomic elbow drop from the WWF on one of our receivers who is already down, and he aimed for the face. It was amazingly blatant, especially to go uncalled.

In a side note, we were getting screwed by the refs even back then, they cost us that game too.

Translation: You dont understand my post.

I said he has more range and covers more ground than Lott. Therefore he is more of a hybrid type safety. Williams compares more to Lott because they are more so bruisers than all around safetys that excel in coverage. Do you still disagree?

First of all, you haven't watched any Skins games this year except for the Monday night game and maybe one or two others here and there, so you know nothing.

Just out of pure athleticism, Taylor can make plays on the ball that Roy Williams can only dream of making. He dropped two interceptions on Sunday that Roy wouldn't have been able to be in position to make....not even on his best day. Oh yeah, and don't forget, for the second time Taylor shut down Fitzgerald (He ended his TD streak in college). If the Cowboys put Roy Williams on Fitzgerald, he'd burn him for a big gainer every time.

Roy Williams is terribly overrated, and not even close to half the safety Sean Taylor is. Give Taylor another year to develope, and Williams won't even be worthy enough to hold his jockstrap.

Livestrong, you would be right about Lott towards the end of his career.

But you may have forgotten that Ronnie Lott was an all-pro at Corner at the beginning of his career? In any case, in his heyday, Lott, if not having the overall 'athletic' WOW-ing ability, had great range and agility, otherwise he couldn't have been great at corner before being great at safety.

That said, greatness does not make great analysis. Roy Williams blows in coverage and does not resemble Lott in pass coverage WHATSOEVER (except at the very end.)
