Interesting....that pass was "a little too far out of reach" when it was thrown by Green, but on the previous series when Eli threw essentially the same type of pass to Shockey and it too was a bit too far out of reach, the pass was a "good throw that was placed where it needed to be"

LJ is a load. He's basically the same size as Stephen Davis (LJ 6-1 230, SD 6-0 230), at least as fast as SD in his prime (SD had speed back in the day, dont forget it), but he's got a bit more shake and bake. And he's behind a great offensive line.

Um, I was watching, and unless I'm nuts, the whistle didnt blow until well after they Knight made contact. Clearly Knight didn't see that he was touched down, and the refs didnt blow the whistle indicating that fact. It was a cheesy call, as was the PF on the Chiefs receiver. Very ticky tack.

I'll concede the call on Knight since there won't be a replay (although I don't blame the refs for the call), but if you throw the ball at an opposing player, it's an automatic penalty. No question.
Now, if I can get away from defending the refs for a second  , LJ needed that TD. I have a feeling he's going to breaking off some big runs really soon.

I think Tiki is a fantastic player, you won't get any hate here. However, Tiki wasn't actually breaking anything. It was just a ridiculously poor effort. If there's any credit to be given, give it to the Giants who bothered running 20 yards downfield who created the crowd that unintentionally screened some of the Chiefs.

I've stopped complaining 99% of holds, because the calls are completely arbitrary. I watch other games and constantly see what I think is a hold, and nothing gets called. Then 5 minutes later I'll see something totally innocuous get flagged, wiping out a hard earned 30 yard gain. Its so inconsistent, its basically a joke.

I recently had a conversation with a D-I college football official. I asked him about two things. First was PI. He said that they call it any time they see it. He also said that when they look at tapes they see a lot of mistakes they make as to who actually commits the penalty. He said that it is often offensive and it is called as defensive.
The second question I asked was about holding. His word, verbatim where as follows "There is holding on every play in a football game" He said that it if it is far enough away from the play that it doens't make a direct impact they will use discretion. If it is directly related to the play then they will call it every time they see it.
He also said that he believes that many of the NFL officials are not qualified to be doing games and he believed that the college game was officiated at a higher efficiency.

Yeah, I do. It is pretty annoying.
But I geuss he should be. I mean, I like when Theismann is a homer for us (like he was when we played against the Eagles this year), so I can't complain too much when other guys are homers.
I just hope Troy isn't too much of a homer tommorow. . . :2cents:

I disagree. The Chiefs have no problem moving the ball. They just bogged down at the goal line and had a stupid turnover, not to mention stupid penalties. If you look at the box score, they are moving the ball just fine. 7.7 Y/A for Trent even factoring in those two stupid drops on the screens at the end. Almost 5 yards a carry for Larry (no I wasn't trying to rhyme :) ).
The Chiefs are only down by three, let's see what happens to start the 2nd half.
TheGreek1973
December-17th-2005, 05:56 PM
the bottom line is the chiefs are "only" down by 7 and they have one hell of an offense. They get the ball to start the second half so this one is far from over.

Honestly, I feel bad for Troy being stuck with Collinsworth. Every time they do a Skins game, Collinsworth brings up the Lavar hit. I'm a skins fan, and even I thought he was overdoing it long ago, but he continues to mention it. Its not like Troy did anything wrong, he just got cracked really hard. That's not exactly something I'd rub in three times a year.

December-17th-2005, 06:01 PM
Man, if I was the Giants I wouldnt be blitzing. The Chiefs o-line is good enough and experienced enough to pick most of those up. They'd be better off rushing four and relying on Strahan and Usi beating the tackles one on one. Right now they are leaving huge gaps in the secondary, and have gotten pretty lucky (that defensive holding call saved a touchdown).

One thing is bugging me about LJ though, as good as he is, and as good as the Chiefs' o-line is. When he takes on a DB int he secondary, he has no killer instinct. The great ones like Payton would literally try to knock the crap out of little DBs that tried to tackle him down the field. Even our own Stephen Davis would crack DBs with a nasty stiffarm. LJ needs to get a mean streak, he'd be just that much better.
