An official 2005 NFC East division champions locker-room hat with the Giants' logo on it? $21.99.
The accompanying T-shirt? $19.99.

The Washington Redskins winning the NFC East title instead?

Yesterday that was priceless, because while the NFL was selling official Giants NFC East championship gear at its online store, the league did not appear to be selling similar items with the Redskins logo. The Redskins, of course, could still steal the division title from the Giants this weekend if the Giants lose in Oakland on Saturday and the Redskins win in Philadelphia on Sunday.

But that didn't stop NFLshop.com from featuring official "locker room" gear from a Giants' locker room celebration that may never take place. The site offered a white hat with the words "Division champions" over the Giants' "NY" logo and a gray T-shirt with a similar design. And though both items were available for purchase, the site noted they wouldn't be shipped until mid-January.

The Giants had no comment on the NFL's premature sale. The league also made a similar blunder in the NFC South, where Carolina Panthers division championship shirts and hats are currently available, even though they could still lose the title to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Some of you have said that you'd like to buy the Giants Championship gear if the Skins win the division. I may be wrong, but I believe that if the Skins should win the East, the Giants stuff would not be allowed to be shipped. When you place an order for those items, it is on a pre-order basis and the contingency that they actually win, otherwise the items are never distributed to the public. The reason why they don't ship until Mid-January is to allow the manufacturer to produce the items as they're not going to risk making thousands of hats and t-shirts only to have to destroy them. Yeah, it's enough to piss someone off that the NFL did that, but I guarantee you they haven't made that many of them yet.
And the way the team is playing right now, I don't really think they need this to get fired up for the Philly game. I think the chance to play in the post-season and possibly win the East is enough motivation.
HTTR and kill Philly!

If you guys think the league has favored the Giants then why would we be the most penalized team in the NFC and 2nd most in the NFL.

Please stop it, you are making yourself look silly.

The bogus PF, and trapped TD pass, alone proved that is not the case. The giants could have been called for holding a dozen times , with obvious holds, that the refs ignored. Burress got away with OPI when ran into Springs going after the ball, and had position. Every flag the giants got was earned, and all were good calls.

And don't get me started on the Chiefs game, The giants got away with murder. For all their penalties (mainly for show) most are the non game changing kind in garbage time. And a bunch of offsides that the refs can't ignore.

Hey, I'll take whatever calls we got

There is NO WAY the ref could overturn the Toomer catch. Just not enough evidence

Likewise, had it been ruled incomplete, there was NO WAY the ref could have overruled that

The holding call was a good call. The PF was a BS call which led to the Toomer catch

P.S..... Again, 2nd most penalized team in the NFL. Explain how that happens to the leagues darlings whom the refs all love

:secret: again reread my previous post.

how many calls cost them a game? how many, gave their opponents a drive saving call??? again most of their penalties are the non game changing variety, or ones they can't hide (i.e. Off Sides). Didn't the OL have 11 offsides against the Sea hawks. The fact that they got so many penny ante flags, proves the NFL is trying to cover their tracks....Those two BS PF calls the chiefs got two weeks ago, that stopped drives, on close plays, the Giants always get the advantage call. So that way if the replay isn't obvious they can give them the ball.

Plus the fact that the Giants got 8 out of their first 12 games at home, 9 out of the first 14, and the easiest schedule of all NFC East teams, and now the NFL promoting the Giants as NFC EAST Champs, before they have actually won the right... is more than enough proof.

Crying about the refs on this board, after we lost two ball games on terrible calls, and a couple of close games having questionable decisions that went against us. Having to play the toughest schedule in the NFC, after all the breaks the giants have had is just sad. It's like someone hitting the lottery, complaining about taxes.

It was obvious the ball hit the ground, and his hands were NOT under it. The ref that made the call had the worse view, standing behind Toomer, blocked by Toomers back.

Hey I have no reason to lie. We won, and I already admitted I was wrong about Brown's foot trick. Toomer trapped the ball

Note for all Giant fans crying about the officials in the game.

Tiki couldn't run.

Plaxico didn't even show up for the game.

You had no answer for Moss or Portis and you lost the game by 15 points.

You were completely dominated, quit crying about the officiating.

* Make sure one of those appear on your division title t-shirts, you did

Just feel the need to clarify.

The ball can hit the ground, if the reciever exhibits control. It looked pretty iffy either way, no way you can overturn that.

Wynn Upset by Title Claim
Renaldo Wynn was not happy to hear that the NFL.com online store was marketing memorabilia to celebrate the NFC East champion New York Giants -- even though the Giants, who play the Raiders in Oakland on Saturday night, haven't yet won the division title, and could still lose it to the Redskins this weekend.

The NFL.com team shop is selling Giants NFC East Champion T-shirts for $19.99, fitted caps for $21.99.

The Redskins were steamed that the Giants had delivered boxes of hats and T-shirts commemorating the title to FedEx Field before Saturday's game. Had New York won Saturday, the Giants would be named NFC East champions. The delivery was customary, but Wynn and his teammates were nonetheless offended.

"That's completely wrong," he said. "I know they had their little package delivered to FedEx last week, too. But that's just not right."

I hope this is good bulletin board material for them going into Philadelphia.

??? If we had won the game against SD, Oakland or Tampa, the game in Philly would be to lock up the division, no matter what NY did against Oakland. Why don't we deserve it? We've won 4 in a row, and will win 5 in a row on Sunday. The skins are the hottest team in the NFL right now, and will be the most dangerous in the playoffs. We stomped Dallas and New York two weeks in a row, the next two best teams in the division. Sure, we had a meltdown in NY a couple months ago, but **** happens. What matters is right now. And right now, the Skins are the team to beat.

Why don't we deserve the division crown?

Why not? we've lost ONE game in the division, we've lost two times in conference. We've lost to a few AFC teams along the way.
AND to make matters best, IF the giants lose Sunday and we win, we'll clinch the divison by going into december facing a WHOLE month of must-win games, and beating EACH of our division opponents IN A ROW to do it.
If that isn't deserving it, I don't know what is.
We're not backing into anything. This team is on the verge of ten wins. How is that "not deserving" ?

Are you a Redskins fan?

You can't make a statement like that and not explain it. We lost to the AFC. We lost a couple games we should have one, and definitely at least one game that we did win if not for a bad call.

So why don't we deserve it? Please enlighten us all. If we end up tied with the Giants.. we win head to head because of division record. Are you saying the tiebreaking rules should change because the Giants deserve it more? (Don't even mention the 9 home games.. I won't go there.. it wasn't fair, but there's not a thing we can do about it).

You smoke a lot of crack in Silver Spring, Pool Shark? :mad:We've lost 1 division game this year. We have the 3rd best NFC record behind Seattle and Chicago, both of to whom we gave their only conference losses. If we hadn't lost ot Tampa, we'd be in the top 3 in the NFC.

Your post is good for something though...FOR ME TO POOP ON!

What are you talking about? If we beat Philly we would have the best divisional record at 5-1? I think that right there says we deserve it because we were the best team in the division and one the most divisional games.

Maybe someone at NFL.com is trying to jinx the Giants. :D

And planning on making a fortune selling "2005 NFC East Champion, NY Giants" merchandise on Ebay after we win the division. ;)

Ummmm, last I checked if we beat Philly we will be 5-1 in the division this year. I would say that New York doesn't deserve it if they win it, not the other way around.

Crying about the refs on this board, after we lost two ball games on terrible calls, and a couple of close games having questionable decisions that went against us. Having to play the toughest schedule in the NFC, after all the breaks the giants have had is just sad. It's like someone hitting the lottery, complaining about taxes.

I;m not crying about the refs. You're the one doing so. I am simply stating the fact that a team who is 2nd in the NFL in penalties doesn't get any breaks from the rest of the league. You can continue to believe in a conspiracy theory all you want, its simply not the case

Enlighten US! We don't deserve it? We swept Dallas, we beat the BEST team in the NFC already this year, we are currently 4-1 in the division & 9-2 in the conference. Why don't we deserve it again?

the October games are over my friend :)

it's what teams are doing NOW that counts. that what Joe Gibbs is all about.

he didn't always beat Dallas or the Eagles in September or October in his first stint here but once December and the playoff rolled around the Redskins were gold against these clubs.

the Giants right now can't stop the run. and that is the anchor of any quality defense.

with a weak middle of the field to protect that only diminishes the chances for Strahan and Omenyiora to make plays off the edge.

let's face it, once we get beyond the Giants DEs the defense is not that formidable.

corners are average. linebackers now are a group of players off the waiver wire until Pierce comes back from injury.

a return game in the Meadowlands wouldn't be a walloping victory for the Giants :)

not the way these teams are playing right now.

Just feel the need to clarify.

The ball can hit the ground, if the reciever exhibits control. It looked pretty iffy either way, no way you can overturn that.

yes the ball can touch the ground IF a player has control before it does and continues to do so after. that is why it is called a trap, because the ball hits the ground without a players hands underneath it and they use their body/arms/hands to make it appear as if they had control. toomer trapped the ball. IF he had caught it with both hands and had control it could have hit the ground all day, as long as he didnt lose control it would have been a catch.

you talk alot of smack for a team that just came to fedex and had...

your tightend shut down

your record breaking RB held to 80 yds rushing

your number one WR with hands of stone

your "shut down" corner beat like he stole something

and i forget what did little eli do?

face it pal, your team is in decline, ours is on the rise. we won the game when it counted most not you. for all your bluster we can still beat you for the crown AND remember you had an extra home game. if your gints were what they were cracked up to be you losers would have had this locked up along time ago.

The Giants on decline? LOL. Call it wholesale injuries coming in at once. The future of the Giants is 50x brighter then the skins, with us having a potential franchise QB in place who's having one of the best years a QB has had for a 2nd year QB, and only getting better. You don't even have a 1st round pick, and your cap situation sucks.

Enjoy this, skins don't figure to be involved in important games much longer with that team

first off genius i am talking about this season. the gints are "wholesale injured" while our D is finally on the field together for the most part. and actually little eli has gotten worse as the season trudged into the final weeks, check his stats. "you do not even have a first round pick" bwahahaha. get real with our coach who needs one? he is a maker of men. tiki torch is getting old, burning out sooner rather than later. Portis is YOUNG and will be around for a long time. should we talk about the D's??? good luck on this front. how about WR? we own you on that one as well. and sorry to say but Cooley is so much better than shockey, what an idiot cryin about a play, meanwhile the interception is being run back. you gints fans buy into your own media hoopla too much and think that you are supposed to win.

i truly beleive that the gints will win tomorrow, it has been pretty much preordained but i would love to hear your BS if they lost.

does this mean that you actually think that shokey is better and has more potential than Cooley? say what you are trying to say little troll. and i in no way represent this board, only myself and my opinion.

try and debate the issue if you have the mental fortitude, instead of trying to merely making snide remarks. now if you would like to pepper your side of the argument with such remarks i dont mind it comes with the territory.

but dont be a simpleminded troll. now shall we discuss Cooley vs. shocker?

I am not understanding your analysis. Having one of the best years a QB has had for a second year????? OK Im pretty sure Big Ben took the Steelers to the championship game his ROOKIE year. And I am also sure that Eli has not beaten a team on the road with a winning record. ( you beat San Fran and New Orleans) I think he has a bright future, but you need to win big ones on the road.
And before I get the backlash, I know that is one of the Skins weakness also, but Im not claiming Brunell is a God.

And Shockey better than Cooley? Well I dont recall Cooley standing there crying at the refs for a flag as the football was intercepted and being run right by him. That was a CLASSIC moment. I bet Cooley will have twice as many yards as Shockey this weekend. Oh, wait I know, cause he Shockey isnt playing, and long with your three starting linebackers. Player No Yds Avg Long TD
Jeremy Shockey 65 891 13.7 59 7
Chris Cooley 69 766 11.1 32 7

pretty comparable stats although cooley has a lower average. Personally i think cooley should have made the pro bowl over alge crumpler
