Irregular heartbeat usually means they'll want to sit him out for awhile rather than risking cardiac arrest during a game. Chances are, we won't have his services during the game in Tampa. Too bad...we're really hurting at CB and he's been playing great Special Teams.
Ade...our prayers and wishes for your speedy recovery.

Right. Joey Harrington was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat as well, and consequently missed the last two games of the season.
Harrington's form of arrythmia is called supra ventricular tachydria which is fairly common, and was treated with a non-surgical cathetar technique and apparently the technique really effected his energy level. Harrington had symptoms develop during a game against Tampa, and his heartbeat was 280 beats per minute.
Depending upon Jimoh's dianosis, theres a very good chance he won't play the rest of the season.

Yeah, thats not good, for the team or for him. He was clearly struggling on the sideline. Its good they got him carted off as quickly as they did. They could have just thought he had the wind knocked out of him.
As much as people have bashed him on this site, he's definitely taken some steps forward this season. He's made some great tackles, and his coverage has improved a lot more than people give him credit for.
I hope he recovers fully, and I hope to see him back in uniform soon.

He had 2 memorable plays that stick out in my mind that we should all remember and thank him for:

2) Had the tackle of Plummer in the end zone which should have been a safety in the Denver game

At the time he played for the bulls and they tried to settle with him so he would never play ball again, because they didnt want the liability. As bad as those situations are, especially together, we can all rest assured that Ade is receiving the best medical care there is. I hope and pray for his speedy recovery.
Y'know, Ade's made some mistakes this year, no doubt. But he's made plays for us too. How many of us thought last week and this week, "Crap, we're down to Ade." And he played just fine both times, thank you very much.

I pray he is okay. I myself have suffered from irregular heartbeat. AKA arythmia.
Does anybody know if he puked before or after the attack? It means all the difference.
Speaking from personal experience... I was hospitalized a few years back from the same thing. My problem was I drank too much beer the night before and played ball with a hangover. I was dehydrated and I puked so hard my stomach actually rubbed against my heart which caused the arythmia. It lasted for a few hours but the Doctors said my heart was fine. I hope his is too!!!

Jimoh, you are in my prayers as well...
As for his injury, I have heard both the ribs/lung and the arrhythmia. I am currently in PA school and can tell you (Atown especially) is not only a heart arrhythmia quite dangerous, it is possible that Jimoh could have died suddenly right there on the field.
A heart arrhythmia "irregular heartbeat", can be looked at as, let's say, an electrical appliance in your house during a thunderstorm. (The heartbeat is as a matter of fact controlled by electrical nodes) Sometimes lightning strikes and the power will flicker in your house; sometimes so quickly clocks don't reset, nothing is really effected.. Consider that a minor heart arrhythmia, the body can adjust.
However, sometimes the power is off for a second or two. Clocks blink 12:00, etc. That would be equal to someone expieriencing a life-changing "irregular heartbeat". That person's body might not be able to readjust to the change, just as that "old school" alarm clock wouldn't be able to readjust the time itself.
And, of course, the power outage.. No more clock. You can figure that one out.
Now... if he indeed has the broken rib and punctured lung, he is in far better shape than an irregular heartbeat. "What if he has both?" You ask. Well, yes, probably, but that is from one causing the other; a different classification of arrhthmia if you will. I can explain, but I mean come on, that's another 2 paragraphs at least.. and that's Barney level.
I guess the bottom line is.... Atown you're definately a piece of ####, and Jimoh should be okay after the rib heals. He won't have the same irregular heart beat as Joey.

I second that. Jimoh has played well all year. He's had some huge plays on Special Teams and some touchdown saving passes defended. Every corner in this league gets toasted occasionally. He seemed much more comfortable and confident out there.

Man, this MB is really classy!
Lavar gets hurt and we say he wines too much and gets hurt too easily. Jimoh, who normally gets laughed at for making a good play, gets hurt and all of a sudden Extremeskins has turned into Red Cross?
Yeah, it was real bad when we thought he had an irregular heartbeat, but does that make him no longer fair game to get joked about?
His name is Ade "Toast" Jimoh. So the guy asked if he got burned again. I thought it was funny. But I guess Extremeskins has too much class to laugh at people (except when its a high profile player like Aikman or Lavar)

Congratulations...you will now be looked at as a jerk off :applause:. He could have died (so i heard with his injury) and you still go making jokes about him, he's giving his all on the field as well. It's like beating a man when he's already down.
you can judge me how you want. But I just think its very interesting the level of sympathy the guy is getting right now. Before the game we all were talking bad about him. During the game we were saying bad things about him, but after the game when we hear he's got an irregular heartbeat, suddenly he's an "improving DB"?? C'mon??
I was born a day, but it wasn' anywhere near yesterday.
And whats even funnier is that these same fans, the ones who are so prominent to call out Atown for his joke about Adi are the same ones who have had pics of thiesman's injury in their sig; or Lavar's hit on Aikman; or have started threads as recently as yesterday talking about how much Lavar sucks because he got hurt.
I'm just sayin if you're gonna play the sympathy card and even get mad at Atown for not playing that same card, then get mad at every other member of extremeskins who ever laughs at an injury.
Tell you what, next time Sean Talyor delivers a big hit over the middle and the guy is slow to get up, I dont want to see anybody celebrating because that hit could have taken the guy's life!
Its nothing wrong with sympathy, but the fans here know damn well that they do not behave this way normally; so to get mad at a guy and even 'take his microphone' (whatever that means) kinda makes people look a little two faced thats all.
Now that being said, Ade's in my prayers, but I still thought it was a funny statement. The guy asked if "Toast" got burned!

yeah, I hear that, but why is it bad to laugh at Adi but Ok to laugh at anybody else? I've NEVER seen a guy get scorned so much for making a joke before, and we've had injuries since the existence of the NFL.
And lets be serious. The guy didn't say "haha, Adi's hurt" He said "did he get burned"
But I'ma let the issue rest. Its not like I'm any friend of the guy, but I thought it was really harsh and just excessive to have like 30 posts talking about how bad the guy is. Even if it wasn't called for, do we need EVERY MEMBER OF EXTREMESKINS to say it? I guess the guy gets it. We don't need the repeat posts just to make yourself feel good.

I think Jimoh took a helmet to the chest or fell on a football or something. I'm not totally sure, but I think an irregular heartbeat is similar to a heart murmur. We'll see what the doctors say about Jimoh. I hope is back at full health soon.

Maybe a few MD's could ring in on what may be going on with Jimoh. I know from coaching youth sports that a blow to the chest "can" cause major heart trauma and even death. Not that this has anything to do with that but maybe someone in the medical profession can let us know????
Also... Not only does Jimoh need prayers, so does the douchebag who posted the negative comments because insensitivity like that will be well rewarded.

Someone stated that Jimoh indeed has the broken rib with a punctured lung. This is far better than the "irregular heartbeat". He will definately heal and be back; maybe not this year, but he'll play ball again.
His "irregular heartbeat", imo, was caused from the punctured lung. His body still demanded oxygenated blood as normal, and since the lungs give blood oxygen, and one had been punctured, only 1 lung was delivering oxygen to the blood. His body isn't used to the 1 lung (yet), so it demands more oxygenated blood by telling the body to increase the heart rate, thus, leading to an abnormal heartbeat. The pain, panting, and hunched overness you saw Jimoh in was his body getting used to being given air by one lung.
You can easily live with one lung, however you wouldn't be Lance Armstrong or anything. Jimoh plays football.. He was JUST on the field running, so that is why he was struggling so much to cope with the injury on the sideline. As for his recovery, if any fluid builds up in his punctured lung, the fluid will be removed and the lung will heal itself quite quickly. The rib will probably be left to heal itself as well (depending on severity).
So in conclusion, Jimoh will definately be alright (on account that his injury is only the broken rib and punctured lung), and you can probably now get away with a few "toast" jokes. However, I would never play around if all you know is "Irregular heartbeat"; that's like laughing at someone with cancer. Hopefully Atown was just misinformed and unknowledgable to the seriousness of heart arrhythimia.

Does he have atrial fibrillation or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy? As you are all aware hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is something that causes sudden death among athlets. A-fib on the other hand is a chronic condition that is the most common cause of irregular heart beat. In him, Jimoh, a young man, an irregular heart beat during a professional athletic event, the most likley etiology is some electrolyte abnormality. I am sure he will be fine.

Get well Ade!
He had 2 memorable plays that stick out in my mind that we should all remember and thank him for:
1) Had the game saving tackle in the Zona game on the WR screen pass
2) Had the tackle of Plummer in the end zone which should have been a safety in the Denver game
There was also an amazing pass defense that he made earlier in the season, it may have been against Denver... Anyway, it was a bomb and the pass was placed perfectly. Jimoh was in man coverage and the reciever had a step on him, and he reached out his hand and knocked the ball away right as it was about to hit the reciever in the numbers. He saved an almost sure TD. My opinion of Jimoh increased significantly after that play.
He's a player who has struggled, but who has really come a long way, and has been an asset to the team this year. I'm glad he's on our team!

Thanks for the professional take. I'm wondering though, can a punctured lung be repaired to make it functional again? I mean would he be able to play again with only one lung??? What if he suffers the same injury to the other lung? He could die right there on the field. That isn't a good risk to take. Is there any official NFL policy on this?

I come here because I've been a member here sine June of 2001, before most of you had ever heard of this site! And I have enjoyed being able to speak my mind.
I've been following the people who created this site since back when webskins.org was a really active site.
I remember when the Washington Times wouldn't let us read their articles so we started a site to list all the TWT stories dealing with the redskins.
I remember back before there was an extremeskins.com and we were communicating through a mailing list.
So why do I come here? Cause I've been here!
But as a person who's been here for a while, I can't help but comment on things that I find of low taste. And that includes scorning Atown for something that we all do here regularly.
On the Aikman Injury - (http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105847&highlight=aikman+injury)
"Lavar did him a favor. With his bad back and lack of mobility, it was time for him to retire. He's a better analyst today than he was a QB at the end of his career."
---scottb
"Personally, I don't like seeing that clip. I would not consider a highlight of Lavar's career. I wonder how people on this board would react if somebody were to post LT breaking Joe Theisman's leg in there signature. And then one of the Giants fans on the board were to talk about what a great play it was. Just my opinion but I think they are under the same category and both unfortunate plays that I wish had not happened.
GO SKINS!:logo: "
---ATLANTASKINSFAN
"I don't really think you can compare the two incidents; Aikman had already had several career threatening concussions in the past, and it was almost inevitable that he was going to get another one and be forced to retire. It just happened to be Arrington. So realistically, Aikman only had at the most 1 or 2 years left.
The Theismann play was a freak accident, nothing that could have been prevented or anything. I bet Theismann coiuld have played another 5 years if the accident hadn't happened.
Plus, Aikman was a Cowturd!"
--jrockster77
Thats just a quick search on the Aikman injury, but I'm sure I can find other similar quotes on injuries caused by Redskins players. I'm not sure about you, but a concussion is a very serious matter. So if you're gonna ban laughter, then ban it always, and put a mute button on anybody who has ever made a scrcastic remark after a player got injured;
Football's a rough sport and players are gonna get injured. But we're not dealing with girl scouts who can't take a joke. Jimoh is in the locker room getting laughed at and praised by his teammates right now. Are you gonna scorn the ones who laugh at him?
I repeat, this is a football site, not a girl scouts team.

Redman, I never said YOU say these things about lavar. I said, WE say these things. Or more precisely, other people say these things and we dont scorn them the way Atown was scorned in this thread.
There are a few members at this site that enjoy having discussions with, and you're right up there. I'm not really used to getting personal attacks from you though. I normally expect that from the new members so that I can just ignore them.
I find it sad that nobody wants to discuss the double sided nature I've spoken about in extremeksins members. Everybody just wants to call me stupid or ignore me and praise Jimoh for being an upcoming all-star.
He has the nickname "toast" for a reason. And no matter what he does from henceforth, he does have a history. If he is able to become a pro-bowl CB, then we can say he came from a mighty long way, but a few good games does not erase the mistakes he has made over his short career. It shows he's getting better. But the guy has made many mistskes over his career.

It really depends on whether it is a "puncture" or a "laceration". A laceration, or a jagged tear of tissue.. would be much more serious. If it is a puncture, which would have caused pneumothorax (air in the chest cavity outside the lung), once the air was removed, the lung would reexpand and in essence, expand against the ribcage and use itself as a sortof bandage and heal itself.
Bottom line, depends on how severe it is. If it's small, it should heal and he will probably not have problems down the road.
