View Full Version : How Many Players On The Skins Roster Have Playoff Experience?...

Or even paloff experience? ;)
Trying to think...Jansen was on the 1999 playoff team, wasn't he? And I know Brunell has playoff experience. Does Portis? Did Denver ever go to the playoffs while he was still their rb? What about Shawn Springs (even though he's injured and may not play)?...Moss has playoff experience (and thankfully, also has big play experience in playoff games)...Who else am I missing?
Just trying to see if the Skins have a good number of players who know what the postseason feels like, or if the overwhelming majority of them will be experiencing it for the first time this Saturday...

I'm sure Renaldo Wynn went during his time in Jacksonville. (something not discussed, he and Brunell were teamates there too)
Randy Thomas would have gone with the Jets under Parcells. Mike Sellars was on the 99 redskins team, wasn't he?
*edit*
Was Cornelius Griffin on the Giants SB team?
Also, James Thrash went with the Eagles, David Patten of course (even though he is on IR).... wow there are a lot of players who've gone come to think of it

Damn, I completely forgot about all those guys...
What about Marcus Washington?...The Colts made it to the playoffs while he was still with the team, right?

Brunell, Thomas, Washington, Springs, Moss, Portis, Sellers, Jansen, Thrash, Ray Brown, Walt Harris, Peirson Preleau?, and i think thats it. But look at who matters, we have Clinton, Santana, and Brunell with experience. Defense doesnt have to be clutch, just do they thang. HAIL VICTORY!

You are correct that Frost does not have playoff experience. I think that Albright the Long snapper has playoff experience. I knew two of the three specialists had playoff experience.

the position where playoff experience means the most is at quarterback.
for the Redskins to win this game Mark Brunell needs to outplay Chris Simms. and that means not turning the ball over when pressured.
Simms will have a hard time I think in the NFL's second season where the pressure rises and the pace of the regular season gets jacked up several notches.
Younger qbs are more likely to force things in attempts to make the big play and it will be interesting to see if Simms remains patient or whether he succumbs to the temptation to try and create on his own.
Ditto for Eli Manning. It will be interesting to see how Manning handles the Carolina rush and his first postseason excursion :)

agreed, but most likely, a hostile home crowd will level that inherent advantage to an even pick 'em.

Prioleau doesn't have playoff experience. The last time the Bills made the playoffs was 1999. 1999 WAS Prioleau's rookie season, but he was with San Francisco who finished 4-12 and followed that with a 6-10 record in 2000.

It also means Brunell needs to get healthy so he has a better chance of doing this. I'm not sure how much of the overthrows I can take, especially against the Bucs defense.

The last 5 weeks have been do or die for every man on the roster...
playoff like conditions, one could argue.
The thing that concerns me is our performances on the road during our 5 game winning streak. Sure, we looked great at FedEx field. But at St. Louis, it was nip and tuck until the 4th quarter. At Arizona, it took a miraculous Antonio Brown return. At Philly, we were losing with 13 minutes to play.
However, I believe everyone, players and coaches alike, will step it up for the playoffs. In Gibbs We Trust.

Salave'a was on that Titans team when the music city miracle. I remember because he splashed on top of Frank Wycheck when the play was over...I dont know if Wycheck was ever the same again.
