It's pretty funny that with this team, 5 penalties is a lot and a bad thing. A few years ago, that would be a great effort.

Back to Springs: Saying it's pretty much going to be a consensus of the trainers and Shawn Springs later in the week. IMO: It's looking likely to be one of those game-time decisions.

Is team on schedule or ahead for where he thought they'd be? No real time table. Too many variables

How is S Springs?
Big concern. Later in week before we know.
Ade should be ok. Happened before. Nothing to be alarmed about.
Carlos should be back for next week.

Brunell's knee is doing well. Didn't have a lot to work with early. Not a lot there. Threw the ball away when needed. Big scramble for first.

Was tough day yesterday the Knee? No. Didn't give him a lot earlier. Eagles surprised them with some of the coverages. Some passes high. maybe due to 4 days off during the week. Should get more work this week and be ready for Tampa

Do you prefer to play teams in playoffs you've played during the season? Rather play team he hasn't played. Would rather play someone other than Bucs. Very good. Happy to be in, but not happy to have to travel. Not happy about short work week, but they have short week also.

Is the team looking for playback, after loss to Bucs during season? Good team. not looking at it that way. Beat us fair and square the first time.

S. Springs looked slowed during game. Does he have to sit this week to get better even if he's close? Will have to make a decision. Important game. Don't want someone out there who can't compete. Medical team will make good decision.

Since you never seem to look forward to games, do you doubly not look forward to it now that it's the playoffs? Laughs!! Good team. A thrill to be in the playoffs. Really enjoy it. Makes the day easier. Makes it more fun.

Do you think you can win playoff games on the road like you did the first time around? Different team. Up to them. How smart and physical they are. Can throw my record out the window. Win with smart play. I didn't have to say anything in locker room yesterday at half time. Players stood up and took responsiblility for the win. Very tough game yesterday. The division next year is going to be some kind of tough.

Does it mean more to you this time around to come back and get back into the playoffs? Loves this because a whole lot of new people are going. Thrill to see the players, owner and fans enjoy this. Watching TV why shaving and heard reporter say, "hey, did you see those Redskins". Really enjoys that.

What prevented ship from sinking. What happened in mid year meetings? Thought about 3 tough loses in a row. Hey, this is it. Can't lose another game. We're gonna make this count and not waste the offseason and all the hard work. Our backs are against the wall. Now is the time to do it. More about, this is it. Nothing else to look forward too. What are we going to do about it.

Team has been extremely hard working. One of the best locker rooms and best character. Players deserve the credit.

How do you instill it into the team? Don't think it's me. Think we have a heck of a coaching staff. You win game based on how you pick your players. You win with character. Your not going to make them do anything. You can help and coach and lead, but have to pick good players.

Talking about Greg Blache for 3 weeks, what is the deal with the Lazy boy? Player of week gets lazy boy during meetings. Coach Blache gets the Lazy boy too, cause his guys have been playing so well. Have to go recruit good coaches. Town and team are pluses when recruiting.

Sounds to me like Blache will succeed Williams if Greg leaves. Gibbs is very high on him.

Lemar hasn't got a lot of attention. Did you think he would have this kind of season? Key ingredients of the season. Lemar played so well outside last year. Everyone had concerns moving him to inside. He's very professional. Studies real hard. He really bailed us out. Can start inside or outside. Very consientious. Studier.

Clinton is very physical. he has a burning desire to win a football game. Plays physical with or without ball. Asks for tough inside routes. Santana does number one thing we needed. Big play. Safety this game was tilted towards Santana this game. He as a marked man this game. Tried to rough him up. Moss loves being here. A leader. Lots of character. Add in ST and there's a pretty good group from the U.

Everything in NFL has changed. Loves free agency. Can go get someone. First group of FA's first years is core. Trade for Santan is hugh. Vinny and scouts get lots of credit.

Vacancies for head coach. Teams can now ask to interview Greg. Will you let Greg interview during the playoffs? Just have to deal with that when it happens. Try to keep everything in tact.

Is there worry after winning 5 in a row that team will let down? Always a concern. Have talked about it.

I thought the same thing when watching it. Not only with the paper comment but he also said "You know.. having him is a big deal out there... he could start at outside linebacker for us." Considering the fact that he gave Washington praise... which outside linebacker spot was he talking about? You can only imagine how mad Gibbs is at Arrington behind closed doors.

Coach wasn't taking a shot at LA with his praise of Lemar. Lemar moved to inside this year cause we were in dire straights. Gibbs was simply praising the job Lemar has done, and how he's so good he could start either position. Some people must live wearing a Tin Foil hat.

I believe the best things we can do is rest Springs this week. With Rogers coming back and us remembering what the did to us the last time we played it should be enough to get us past them. My hopes are that we go to Carolina and play the Panthers. Hopefully, they get past the Giants in NY. If so, I think we can beat the Panthers since we didn't play them this year. The Cowboys beat them in Carolina, so I think we stand a better chance their instead of NY.

I am sure that this has been discussed at length before but I love the way that JG speaks in his conferences. For example, he tries his hardest not to single out one player but to single it out as a team effort or just blame himself. For example, when discussing the slow offensive start he said things (and I am not going to quote, just paraphrase) we did not give him many options and we had to make an adjustment to give Mark more opportunities, etc.
