which fired redskins coach in the last decade do you think would have been most capable of getting the redskins were they are if joe gibbs hadn't been hired? (wich coach should have stayed?)
Well i'd have to say marty shotenhimer (bad spelling:laugh: ) becuase 8-8 wasn't bad enough to get fired in my book and only one season and seeing what he did with the chargers, who knows?

I'd say Marty as well, he beat US and he stopped the Colts from going undefeated

Marty wasn't fired because of his record. He was fired because he wouldn't let Danny know what was going on.
And the answer is clearly Marty but the reason Joe Gibbs is so special isn't because he could get us to this point. It's what he did after he got us to this point. January is not Marty's time of year. Marty is Mr. October.

As somebody who watched Marty in KC for years...
He's a great person and a great human being.
He's a pretty good coach. Probably better than Norv and Spurrier combined.
But he can't hold a candle to JJG.

Not Marty, He doesn't win big games. He would have gotten us close each year and we would have missed it by one win each time........

Marty Schottenheimer, if you like losing conference championship games and cheering for a team that wins playing butt ugly.

We would have a made move to get Parcells here if we didn't get Gibbs... None of our past coaches would have gotten us back to this level.

Marty, without a doubt.

Marty would never have won us anything of consequence but he would have made us a respectable team that could be dangerous any given year given enough talent. As someone else said, Marty >>>>>> Norval + Spurious combined.

Marty ball was not fun to watch but it kept us in games when our talent base was pretty bad.
Norv had talent but no discpline same can be said for spurrier

I agree, at least Marty has got to the conference championship game, Norv and Spurrier could get there only if they bought tickets...
Gibbs is in a completely different class. And thank God he is leading the Redskins!

I'm confident Marty coulda gotten us to the playoffs but what he would be able to do once there I'm not so confident about.

Marty was definitely the best we had during Joe's vacation. He ran a pretty tight ship, and from everything I heard was a pretty standp-up guy (don't see him faxing in a resignation from a golf course). All that being said, JG is in a class by himself.

Marty deffinitely........I think Norv is great as an OC, if thats all he had to focus on (except for the stupidity this past week against the G-men).....and Spurrier? dude, hes back where he belongs

Yeah, I don't think we would be wanting to root for Meshawn to score Touchdowns.

Hell no, I think I would rather lose, which we were doing anyway.
