Where on earth did you hear this? I don't buy it. If this were to happen it certainly wouldn't be in the midst of a playoff week. We won't hear about stuff like this until our season is over. Hopefully that won't be until early February!

It's a rumor or speculation. I pray that that's all it ever is.

News to me... Sounds a lot like rumor.
If gibbs gets TO's attitude straight, I wouldn't mind him helping Moss and Portis.

Just kidding. But that's the first I've heard of that rumor. (Just say NO to TO)

After what Gibbs has shown a team with CHARACTER can do, I think it'll be hard for TO to get work with any team with more then 4 wins this season...

God I hope not! If so, he might want to know what Gibbs' definition of "Character Guys" are. Maybe he called Redskins Park for Gibbs and the secretary forwarded him to the Ashburn Sanitation Department Personnel Office.

I like the rumor about Reggie Wayne a lot more than this one. I think Wayne has shown what he can do as a number two WR. Granted, he won't post Colt-like numbers here in Washington, but he'd be a drastic upgrade to our WR corps. With Moss, Wayne, Thrash, and Jacobs...we'd be in good shape.
I worry about TO (disregarding that he's a jerk) because he's on the wrong side of 30.

I dont believe this rumor one bit. TO and Moss would be terrifying for Will Allen...

if and only if, TO becomes a part of Redskin, I'm sure JB will handle the mind of TO... he is no doubt the best WR in the NFL... and he will make a big ass contribution to the redskins with Moss! O_o

well thank you all. I guess thats one of those rumors that will die now.. I had heard that from a friend and wanted to know the validity of it. So no one has heard this before?

They reposted on Wash Post online a column from Leonard Shapiro, dated 11-26-05, that the Skins should go after T.O.

Gibbs CAN NOT be talking to Owens as he is under contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. The NFL has strict rules about tampering and punishments for violating the tampering rules. Plus Gibbs has more important things to worry about other then if TO will fit in with this team.

gibbs would never talk to TO about acquiring him
that would be tampering and could cost the skins draft picks
skinsfan12
January-3rd-2006, 04:56 PM
TO would be poison to Jason Campbell's development.
That said, any contract offered to TO next year will undoubtedly be heavily laden with behavior-based incentives and "out" clauses for both parties. First sign of trouble, and I'm sure the contract could be nullified.

Will T.O be a Cowboy or will T.O. be a Redskin?

The fact that someone is a free agent, there will always be speculation invented via the media that there is chance that the free agent will land with the Redskins. - I think that the bulk of our FA signings will be more under the radar types. (although I'd sure like to make Vanden Bosch this off-season's big signing)

With Moss, Wayne, Thrash, and Jacobs...we'd be in good shape.
Huh? Jacobs is GONE after this year. At least Patten could keep defenses honest. Moss, Wayne, and Patten would be our 3 guys if we miraculously land Wayne.

Look at the Philadelphia Eagles. Do you really want something like that to happen here? He is a plague. He is not a team player, no way Gibbs would sign him. Hell, he would just hold out the following year anyway, looking to renegotiate. His agent, DrewR. really screwed him on this as well. He could have advised him to wait until the end of the season to start all the BS. We want nothing to do with this man. We are just fine without him.

We would light it up with those guys, I still have faith in Patten being a good player in our system if he is used correctly...meaning not our #2 guy.

I think TO is going to go to a mediocre team looking to make a gamble to push them into the playoffs *cough* Dallas *cough*. I don't see any currenty playoff team wanting to play with fire and potentially ruin things as they already stand. I see Gibbs going with a safer choice for the sake of stability and sanity. I could also see Minny making a move for TO as they have a spend happy owner looking to make a splash to put his team over the top. Don't we know how that goes?

January-3rd-2006, 05:21 PM
Don't underestimate that Drew Rosenhaus Dan Snyder connection. With a salary cap free year on the horizon I'm sure TO is licking his chops and who better to play for than a team that has demonstrated in the past that they're willing to throw cash around for just about anybody with a pulse.
Whether Gibbs and his staff take the bait is the other thing. Gibbs has handled some high maintenance players in the past and I'm sure he'd fit in with the rest of our players as far as his work ethic concerned. The problem of course will be his off the field antics. I don't see Gibbs putting up with the kind of nonsence we saw from TO with the Eagles and I'm not sure if he's willing to take the risk to have a player destroy the chemistry of this team.

If it were up to me I would sign UFA Jurevicius, Antonio Bryant or Randy Hymes and relegate Patten to #3.

He is going to Dallas. *crosses fingers he doesnt ruin the team*. Irvin is a huge friend of his and they talk every day and he said that TO is very interested in Dallas and if Parcells leaves then Jerry will sign him to make headlines.

I can see TO in a Cowboys uni only if BP is gone. I wonder if Parcells goes would Glenn, Key, and Bledsoe be goners with him?

News Flash: The NSA has leaked a transcript of the warrantless intercept of the conversation!
Caller: Is this Coach Gibbs? The one that's in the playoffs? And has Super Bowl rings? I'd really like to play for you guys.

on MNL, both Jansen & Spring didn't want him in their lockerroom.

You know, I could see Gibbs acquiring a Jurevicious-type player as our possession WR.
I forgot Patten in my initial post...but I like the WR corps of Moss, Thrash, and Patten with a #2 WR being added. Those WRs plus Cooley, Royal, Betts, Sellers, and featuring Portis would be nice!

If it were just T.O. that would be one thing, but T.O. brings a boat load of personalities with him.
He brings the equivalent of an additional 11 problem child players that all want to ask "why" all the time.
His talents are overshadowed by the fact he's draining to all who are around him. He is truly a chemistry killer & deserves to be quarantined. Unless some life changing experience occurs... I love our receiving core the way it is.
I think the T.O. thing is bogus.
