Obviously Taylor said something that was way over the line.

The official saw the slap. Had to.

It's a botched call from where I sit, but since you don't know what Taylor said, calling it the worst penalty ever is stupid.

We do have to expect more from our players than that. Spitting? If you're going to condone what CP's mom did when she got the beer tossed on her, you gotta expect Pittman to retaliate. A real bad move by ST in that situation and in a game of this magnitude.

Hopefully the Skins offense can come alive and score on this drive.

That's such a stupid thing to say. First off why would the NFL want Tampa Bay to win over Washington? It makes no sense. Second off when you spit in someone's face you should be trown out of the game without a doubt. What Sean Taylor did was stupid because he hurt his team and classless because you don't spit in somebody's face. He's no better than that piece of **** Bill Romanowski.

EDIT: The fact that anybody can actually try and defend Taylor and say that Pittman was in the wrong (although Pittman is not exactly a class act based on his prior history and I despise him as well) is not being logical and really needs to think about what they are trying to defend.

dfitzo53

No, and its dispicable that you are looking for a way out of that.

Dispicable is a bit strong, don't you think? Seeing as Sean Taylor got punched in the face, not simply chest-shoved, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask if there should have been off-setting penalties. When I played football in high school I was always taught never to hit a player because the refs aren't afraid to call penalties both ways and eject both players.

Sean Taylor is so Bush league. The guy is the most talented player on that field and he acts like a moron. He just walks up to somebody and spits on them. It wasn't even in the heat of the moment and he lost control, he went up to someoine and just spit. What an idiot.

THats why the guy will never amount to anything. Waving a gun to someone who stole an ATV or not calling the coach back in the offseason. The guy has no class whatsoever.

Too bad too, cause he could be something special in this league, instead he choosed to be a hack.

The thing is a slap like happens in what seems like every play. Everytime that there is a scuffle you usually see pushing and slapping of the helmet's, what you don't see is somebody spitting in another player's face. If somebody spits in your face and you have the ability to not retaliate even the slightest then you are not a human being. Comparing the spit to the light slap is night and day. Pittman shouldn't have been thrown out of the game.

BTW: Tremendous call by Gregg Williams on that 4th down play. Either that or a really horrible call by Gruden cause that was pretty obvious.

If he indeed did spit on him then whatever he gets....he deserves!! Shouldn't have even put himself in that position. It was a huge stop on 3rd down and we had a chance to swing the momentum and he thinks he has to jaw. I really like ST, but you gotta use your head.

You can't spit through a regular facemask, much less Sean's with the visor. Seriously, I try spitting all the time with my helmet on during football season, and unless you have impeccable aim, you can't spit through a facemask/visor.

In the end, even if he did spit the other player should have been equally flagged for retaliation.

]']that wasn't spit. i know you can't exactly see spit, but most men's faces dont go motion less once they've been spat on.You are so right. Its almost physically impossible not to move your head back and or foward. If someone spit on you your head would move back, also you would wipe it off your face. The Tampa player never once did this.

I didn't see any spit, but I dunno, I'm inclined to give that official the benefit of the doubt. Either way, it's great to see Cowboys fans with nothing better to do than come and discuss the Redskins on our board, since, like their team, they can only sit at home and watch.

So if a player spits in someone's face, that gives the other player a free slap to the head without fear of a flag?

It should. Spitting in someones face is probably the worst thing you can do. Good call by the refs ST deserved to be ejected.

Noone can say they saw him spit at or on Pittman. It wasn't captured on television. If it happened before they switched angles, then I can certainly live with that. Otherwise, nothing about that incident happened like you would expect. Pittman never reacted until the ref was right there. The ref never pulled his flag until after the punch.

And yes, I guess everyone should have as much "class" as Roy Williams.

Here's the thing, even IF they choose to suspend him, he can appeal and I'm sure that won't be heard until after the playoffs.

Regardless, someone needs to sit down with Sean and tell him to just relax for a while, play hard but just walk away after every play. If he did spit on Pittman I have a feeling Pittman said something that really pushed him over the edge but yes, that still doesn't make it right. So, just walk away, don't put yourself in that position to get into trouble as people will be gunning to get Sean to do something stupid again.

On a side note, if Sean ever wants to be a Probowler, he isn't going to earn the votes from players and coachs doing things like he did tonight even if he plays well.

Regardless of whatever stupid act ST did, if he doesn't run that ball into the endzone we do not win the game. It is doubtful that our offense could have driven into the endzone with the way the bucs D played and if they kicked a field goal they also would have lost as the bucs would have had several opportunities to tie in the final minutes. If we had gone into overtime, there is no way the offense would have scored. So, whatever the circumstances, THANK YOU SEAN TAYLOR.

Exactly!

IF Carey saw spit before the Pittman punch, why was there a flag 10 seconds after the spit?
Why was ST ejected 5 mins later and not immeditely?
Seems to me this spit nonsense is either a cover by the refs for a blown call, or thier gulliability at believing Pittman with no proof.

I believe that Sean Taylor spit on Michael Pittman. I believe that the referee Carey, whom I respect very much, saw the spit. However, I believe that the ref should have called offsetting penalties -- hitting another player is also inexcusable.

Finally, if Sean spit on Pittman -- which I believe to be true -- he should be benched without hesitation against Seattle. No man is worth more than sportsmanship and fair play. Spitting is ridiculously petty and childish.

Very true, but as I was pointing out that to bring something like that out to begin with is bad enough, Sean Taylor is one hell of a safety I will agree whole-heartedly BUT I still think that spitting on another player is uncalled for and there is no room for it in this game...

And for those of you that want to know why some Cowboys fans are here I say this to you: I personally am here to talk football and to root on the NFC East in the playoffs, but on that same respect I find it very childish to spit on someone.

I have TIVO as well, and I didn't see any spit.

I'm sure the Redskins AND the NFL will scrutinize the tape. But if there was any spit, it was incidental, at best. I think a suspension would be a little excessive - they already had to lose him for most of the second half.

Whatever the result is, I think Taylor needs to grow up and cool off. I like that he plays with intensity, but losing your composure in a critical game like that can really hurt the team.

Maybe he didn't spit at all. Maybe he totally got jobbed. I don't know. Unfortunately, his reputation doesn't really help him out much in this case.

I think he means the punishments wern't equal. Pittman has no consequences for taking a swing at Taylor (where the rules state a swing = ejection, no if ands or buts). So if Taylor got ejected, Pittman should also have been ejected with offsetting penalties.
