View Full Version : What will you do if the Skins lose to Seattle?

Sometimes it helps to do some forward thinking to imagine what you'll do or feel if the Skins should do the unspeakable and lose to Seattle.

What's the first thing you'll do? And how will you make your peace with a defeat?

Probably just take a deep breath and let out a long sigh, reminding myself that this was a very good run for a team that almost EVERYONE predicted to be WORSE than last years team.

After I wipe the tears and blow my nose, I'll remind myself that the Skins have advanced further than anyone in the NFC east, 1 game shy of sweeping the division and finally that we will maintain the coaching staff that helped bring us here for next season.

IF we lose the first thing I'll do is thank each player I see for all the hard work they put in to make this year a great building year to something more. And I will tell them fans at ExtremeSkins agree. We wanted to win, but, we're proud of the step they took to improve us and make us competitive again.

Then, I'll come here and see garbage and wonder why we bother :).

I'll write the NFL and respectfully request that the Skins be givin a few years of NFC West play seeing as though the Cards were in our division for some time.

How sweet would that be, guys?

We'd get to play the crappy NFC West twice a year, make it to the playoffs on inflated wins and inflated stats, then get blown out in the first or 2nd round.

Be thankful for how far we got, knowing that next year will be better... and then root for the Bears!! Purely becuase Seattle will NEVER make it to the Super Bowl even if they do get past us.

It's not funny though--because of realignment--it's totally true--all these B.S. teams get bye weeks because of strength of schedule

I'll shake my head in disappointment and then look back happily and what was a successful season. We swept the Eagles, swept Dallas, got revenge against the Giants, and had a winning season, after no one expected us to do anything at all.

The state of the franchise is good, and I'm glad to know that we have Williams back next year, and get another year of continuity with the current system under our belts.

I actually think we are going to destroy Seattle, though. Seriously.

Peace with a defeat???

I will be VERY happy with our season.
6-10 last year.
11-6 this year AND in the playoffs (if we lose Sat)
What more could you want?????
Be practical.

I have not even thought about it. I think the Skins will make quick work of the Seachix!

Listen, I was far more worried about the Buc's than I am about the Chix!

I think we will control the entire game.

I don't know why, I just do.

We're going to win. I just have a feeling, and they're usually right.

That being said, i'll be fine unless we lose in spectacular, heartbreaking fashion. It took me forever to get over that 14-13 Tampa game in 1999

Ellis
January-10th-2006, 05:37 PM
I'm not worried about losing. It won't affect my attitude at all.
I'll be so happy becaus we get to prepare for a MUCH EASIER season next year.
Just look at this...

HOME GAMES:
Division teams... Dallas, Philly, NY
NFC teams... Atlanta, Carolina, St Louis
AFC teams... Jacksonville, Tennessee

AWAY GAMES:
Division teams... Dallas, Philly, NY
NFC teams... New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Minnesota
AFC teams... Houston, Indianapolis

There's about 7 garaunteed wins in there just looking at the list based on the 2005 seasons performances. Next year is gonna be great!

I'll be dissapointed and angry, but I'll know we had a good season so I'll have that to fall back on. Luckily we are in a position where we have very little to lose. No one expects us to win anyway.

January-10th-2006, 06:01 PM
I wouldn't be sad at all.

I've been really excited these past two weeks because I feel we have nothing to lose.

The way I see it we're playing with house money. I've already long considered this year a success.

I'll be sad for a bit because Redskins Football will be done for the next 8 months, but I"ll look at this season as a success either way.

Any year when the Skins sweep Dallas and Philly is a good year. Even if they didn't make the playoffs I would be satisfied with that fact alone. Getting revenge on NYG and Tampa made things even better. I will never forget how FedEx was when Dallas got crushed!! This was a great season win or lose against Seattle. Coach Gibbs and everyone are building a contender which people will find out next year!!

I will drink heavily into the wee hours. That's what I normally do on a saturday night.

What am I supposed to do? Rant and rave? Slit my wrists? We have come so far as a team this season, and you know what, we'll be even better next season. The longer our core group plays in Gibbs and Williams systems, the better they get. This late season run is more then enough evidence.

Sure I will be a little sad if we happen to lose, but I have my health, family, and a winning season to be happy about.

a reiteration of what other people have already said -

think of how much more of a team we have become. think of how much improvement we have shown, and how we, according to the experts, "shouldn't" be where we are.

i'll also remember week 2, and the absolutely sensational comeback, and the feeling i had the next morning when i had class and got a copy of the Post. read wilbon's article and got chills when i read about how this was the sign of a joe gibbs team, and the sign of things to come.

what would i really have to feel bad about? we overperformed and became a frightening team in the NFC East, just like we used to be. we made the playoffs, and i remember this board in week 1, and all the pessimism of the ramsey/brunell switch, the lavar stuff going on after the first giant's week, etc...

we overcame it, and that is what playoff teams do.

MikeB
January-10th-2006, 06:33 PM
I'll just smile knowing that we have had a VERY successful season. I'll also bask in the joy of knowing that next year we will have minimal turnover on personnel, and none on coaching (again, finally!)

I'll know that we are one good DE and one solid #2 WR away from challenging for the SB.

Every one saying they were going to finish last no one and I mean no one said that they were a playoff team.

First of all.. this is sortof a downer of a thread...

But given the fact they play the games for a reason and there is a possibility we could lose, I'll play along.

IF we lose and we played our hearts out.. i.e., Seattle wins the game and we don't shoot ourselves in the foot. I'll be fine. I'll be excited about next season and the fact we have a stable coaching staff.

Then I'll get warm clothes on and make my way down to Redskin Park to greet the team and tell them THANK YOU for a wonderful year.

Personally.. I just have a good positive vibe about this game that nothing is able to shake. That's usually a good sign for me. I'm not overconfident and I am nervous, but I don't feel any real negativity.

(Oh.. if we lose because we shoot ourselves in the foot, I'll be angry and frustrated, but will still go greet the team and thank them for a heck of a year!)

Then like all else, I'll come back here to watch the threads on having _______'s name on a platter. (Fill in the blank appropriately).

I'll get angry, very angry, at the thought that Mike Holmgren could outcoach Joe Gibbs in a game of this magnitude, particularly because Gibbs won earlier this season, so losing would suggest the Redskins haven't improved as much as the Seahawks. I'll probably put a hole through some wall, thinking that perhaps we let Brunell play too long injured.

I'll look back on us sweeping the cowboys, sweeping the eagles, keeping the cowboys out of the playoffs, beating every nfc division winner, winning joe gibbs first playoff game since he came back (more the parcells can say), record setting years for our number one running back and number one reciever, and look forward to the upcoming year. this team has far exceeded my expectations the day it won its 9th game, so i wont have much to complain about.

Why?

Yes, every Skins' Fan, including myself, wants Washington to beat Seattle. Of course, it is a very tough assignment. Regardless of the outcome, I am still proud of the Redskins on what they accomplished throughout the 2005 NFL Season with a 10-6 Record in the playoffs. I just think that Joe Gibbs, coaching staff, and the players would probably have to work more harder for the NFL 2006 Season as they address their certain needs in the offseason. With the 2005 Redskins, at least Joe Gibbs and the coaching staff has something to build on now from hereon. With a little more continuity within the whole Redskins' organization (Coaching Staff, Players, Management), the Washington Redskins will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in years to come.
